That is the easy one the back rocker is a real pain “Great engineering by HD” and on the M8 you have to remove the oil lines. No big deal moving the oil lines but a couple of those back bolts you have to get creative. Great video 👍🏻
Master, showing in video the removal and installation of the cover in the easiest place is simple, I believe everyone came to this video to observe the removal and installation of the most difficult place, that is, the rear cylinder cover, you owe it.
I would suggest to always blow out and ean your bolt holes out thoroughly. If oil gets trapped in the bolt holes when you torque it down it could crack your head if theres oil trapped causing excessive pressure
Great video. I Appreciate the detailed walkthrough every step, for me 10x times better to see it than read it. Just subscribed to this channel, thank you!
Great video! I have the exact same bike just in red. It’s been leaking through the rear rocker box and coming out of my air filter. Now I just need the proper tools but thank you for the video!
I've never removed a gas tank before, do you need to empty the gas first? Just want to make sure I dont have gas go everywhere when I disconnect the fuel line
Hi there, your video as are awesome thanks!! I have a question, after put the bike on 6th gear do you have to pull your clutch to be able to turn rear wheel? So you can see when rocker arms move, thank you!!
I am going to remove rocker box covers as well as push rod tubes and the bases for powder coating . My question is once front piston is top dead center can I remove rear rocker box covers with front tdc ? Or does rear need to be tdc? Also any videos on push rod and base removals install videos? Thank you for any help or Tips with this.
Hello I'm about to replace the rocker gaskets on my rear cylinder, my question is do I need any special tools to properly torque down the bolts, I have a 2014 SG 103 also, engine is still in the frame, asking because of the confined space between the top of the rocker and the frame, any tips are very welcome
You did not mention cleaning the bolt threads before putting on the blue or cleaning out the bolt holes by squirting brake cleaner to remove any oil that might have leaked into the hole. If there is oil in the bolt holes and you cram the bolt you will not get correct torque setting and you can crack the head, according to some of the UTUBE "experts". Glad you are using a torque wrench.
It’s just the breather bolt holes you have to shoot air in them and blow out any oil. I’ve cracked one before. Now I always clean em out. Or you can chase the lock patch on the new breather bolts so oil can move past it.
Hello Ryan, two ?s please. If rocker arm cover gasket is bad, Can I also lose compression? How often should the bolts that secure cylinder to the crank case be checked, I imagine some compression could be lost due to them loosening up. Thank you very much.
If you pull the rocker cover off, instead of just re-tightening the bolts, then Yes you should replace the gasket. It's also possible you have a warped cylinder head not making straight-edge contact with your rocker box. That will keep leaking no matter how many gaskets you replace.

Great video, great details, and extremely short compared to some others at 1+ hour. Thank you.
Always wonder why videos never show the rear cove being worked on ..?? it looks as easy as the front one....:)
very helpful video

Great video! I’m confident I can do this job now!

Same question...as mine is torn down in front of me atm

Would that be the same procedure on a 98 Evo road King
Hi Ryan, mine is 2017 SG, is breather hosing using metal gasket or rubber gasket, having an issue oil comes to air filter, thanks for reply

Do you have one for an M8? Appreciate all the content and time you guys put into these videos. Keep up the great work.
Sorry, not yet.
And with the rear rockerbox is the same Game Right ?
Same steps for rear jug?
I liked your vid, but why not have a Sportster? faster & cooler? I love mine :-)

No compression loss through rocker cover gaskets. You could however lose compression with bad head gaskets.
Do you put lock tight on the rocker arm support plate bolts?
Was wondering the same thing. Did you ever get an answer on that?
I redid my rocker gaskets and just leaked again only put 12 miles on the new gaskets, do I have to rebuy new gaskets again

@@rgh622 it never leaked before till I got the jugs bored out and now it leaks wonder if it did get warped when boring out
