Thanks for the video, I would like to mention that SATA is a data cable i.e. it transfers data and has nothing to do with power. Hence, it's better to avoid using the terminology "SATA Power". There is another cable to provide power to the drive, so basically there are two cables for every drive whether it's HD or SDD: one for the power and the other for data.
thats what everyone thinks when they hear *BUILDING A PC* and they think about the cables and think there are like over 100 parts u have to plug each one correctly while it is as easy as building legos i will literally teach my young brother and make him build his pc at the age of 13. ill be waiting for that day
There is typically a cable that connects the power supply to the wall, that is where your power supply will recieve the power to power all the rest of the components in your pc.
If you dont have a gpu or some optical drivers and only one hard drive than yes. But you need to connect the 8 pin and the 24 pin to at least make the pc work
What is the best source of info as it relates to what cables are necessary. I am a first time builder and have a basic understanding of how it works I just want to make sure I am not screwing it up by leaving cables out that are needed
Well every component needs power. So your motherboard will take the 24pin/ top left cpu power (the 4 or 8, some have even more, depends on the board), harddrives and DVD roms need sata power, and if your graphics card requires power you'll need to plug whatever it needs into it. Might be a 6 or 8 pin, depends on the graphics card.

Max's Tech no the small desktop business pc. I’ve been wanting to upgrade but don’t have the money. So I upgraded a little bit with a graphics card. Now my pc won’t turn on. The psu is fine and all idk what happened help. (I used dual psu to power my graphics card) (it worked for a month then my screen went blank and now it won’t work help please!!!)
Are you able to plug in your monitors directly to your motherboard? Try that, if it works than the issue is with your graphics card. Possibly not receiving enough power
Max's Tech alr so I took my graphics card out. Then I plugged the hdmi into the motherboard and nothing worked. Like when I turn my pc on it blinks then doesn’t work
My power supply does not have a 24 or 20 pin connector. It has a slot for it on the motherboard. It has a 2x 12 pin connectors that fit the slot but then nothing gets power. The motherboard is fine and was tested OK and on the front disply on the case it shows that its getting power from the power supply (its using a different connector) .What do I do?
Having a problem. Put in a new psu and my pc isn’t getting any power at all, I’ve checked all my connections and the only thing I would think would be the molex connector
Just came across this video I have a question I have a rosewill 650watt modular power supply and i just recently upgraded my grsphics card that uses an 8 pin to 8 pin power cable i don't seem to have that cable so is it ok to use any modular power cable or does it need to be specific to my power supply?

Theoretically should be fine. As long as both P/S are on, you may have a hard time finding a spot to install that 2nd power supply though haha unless you use an open case
You may need to get some kind of 24pin splitter though so the 2nd power supply knows to power on. Ide look up some videos on how to use 2 power supplies at once.
24 Pin or 20+4- PIn, powers motherboard 4 Pin or 8 Pin CPU Power, commonly found top left of motherboard PCI-E 6 or 8 Pin or 6 + 2 Pin for powering graphics card Molex, for old stuff but still used if needed
my cpu requires a 8 pin cable but my old psu has only a 4 pin cable if i buy a 4 to 8 pin adapter will it give the power it needs or should i change my psu
I just ordered a rtx 2060 super that requires one 8-pin pci express , minimum requirement is 550. I have a new Dell XPS8930 with a power supply of 450. How do I know if the power supply I upgrade to has the right connector?
Under the specs of any P/S it should list what connectors it comes with. You'll be looking for an 8 pin pci-e power cable which is pretty standard on every modern power supply.
Max's Tech good to know so I don’t need to worry about any 700 watt PS not having the standard connector for the RTX 2060 Super? I assume the 450-500 watt power supply that came with the PC isn’t enough for the RTX 2060 super ?
PC PART PICKER- The Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Corsair CX 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it. Please explain this message. Thanks
So its basically saying the power the board offers would be limited. So the 4 pin is *additional* power. Where your cpu will have plenty of power to run without it, but the board is offering extra power if you decide to overclock the chip. You can still O.C. the chip but eventually you will be limited by the amount of power, this extra 4 pin power gives you extra room to O.C. even further if you want
