Wing foiling in sub-8 knots

- Thank you to Todd Brown for the footage.
This was my ideal evening at Lake Pupuke - sub 8 knots, with my light wind setup. I'm definitely getting a feel for my new equipment in these conditions, allowing me to foil in crazy light air.
BOARD: F-One Rocket Wing v2 (75L). I've grown into this board, and it seems to be a good all-rounder for my weight (75kg).
WING: F-One Strike 5M. Probably slightly too small for these conditions, but my CWC 6M was being repaired. I was surprised to be flying so easily with the 5M in such light conditions.
FOIL: AXIS BLACK SERIES - 1050 font wing, short fuselage, 400 rear wing, 90cm aluminium mast. I'm really happy it in light conditions - easy to pump up with good speed and glide.
These things still amaze me , nice drone work :)
Very beautiful vid, congrats. BTW there is a huge difference between sub 7 and sub 10 kts. E=1/2 mv2
Keep posting.
Really nice video! Have you tried the Axis 1150 PNG? Curious how it compares to the HPS 1050 through out the wind range.
I still have such a hard time believing these type of claims, even though there's video proof. I'd love to see your start in these conditions, how much slogging to get up on the wing. I guess I still have to refine my technique A LOT as I still struggle with anything much below about 14 knots 105L rocket V2 / Swing 6m, 100kg, Moses 1100 / 450. Nice motivational video though!
Thanks for the comment! I did have access to a near-realtime weather station next to the lake, indicating the speed. It was a hard slog to pump up that evening, hence why I edited it out. My arms and legs were sore afterwards..
I think if you dropped your board volume you'd pop up in much lighter conditions than 14kt.. combined with a 7m strike CWC.
@@SailChaser thanks for clarifying. i'm def keen to try a 7m CWC. honestly I was surprised that LOWERING displacement would help me in lower winds. I've always assumed the opposite.
@@JeffreyJDavis I think if I used a smaller board than my 75L, then light conditions would become trickier. I guess it's about the balance between too large and too small. Hope you can try the CWC - I prefer it with a slightly higher PSI than it recommends, otherwise, it feels a tad floppy when pumping.
@@SailChaser I think all F-Ones, including the original Swing need a PSI or 2 more than what's printed on the leading edge or they are too floppy, I'm guessing CWC is the same.
It’s very doable!
