    Great video, thanks for adding in the equipment and wind data in the description! We get some really light days around here too and its fun to explore with a wing where you could never go with a kitefoil.

    Great footwork! This is so insightfull to see how you pre position frontfoot just before the jibe, Then have both almost next to each other after exit jibe and then only a very small step to change them! 👍

      Thanks for the kind comment! Yeah, I sort of shuffle as i prepare for the gybe. The downside to this technique as it can be tricky in the surf to maintain balance.

    Watching in slow mo.. .. I drag my tip on bigger wings when pumping.. your wing seems to just bend(or flap as per Steven Carter)r enough that it doesn't catch the tip. Also i feel like i may be pumping my feet backwards watching you. Very Impressive and thanks for posting one of the only videos of light wind foiling where you show the process of getting up on foil.

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I wonder if my wing bends simply because it's quite old and bagged out. I do try to now pump it to 9psi (8 is the recommendation). Thank you for the feedback on the video too :)

    I was one of the guys asking you to show your pump up on foil. Also good to know for on the 1:1 weight to board volume. Hoping to step down to neutral next spring after the winter thaw. Thanks!

    your gybes are great to see, i notice you step both feet in the center, then change feet during the gybe, i would love to learn this as i am currently gybeing into toeside. I could at the very least use this gybe from bad side gybing into my goodside. Can you give some more info about this half-way switch feet during gybe (maybe call it the windsurf foot change gybe)

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use this method in light wind as making smaller movements provides more board [and foil] stability. I think this is partly how I'm able to stay up during manoeuvres. I also found that shuffling my feet was a good way to learn gybing on both sides... it may not be the prettiest, but it seems to work okay. I wouldn't recommend this technique in the waves though.

    • @apricotscrub
      @apricotscrub 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SailChaser I have yet to attempt any foot switches. Is it easier to learn the shuffle step foot switch during gybe as you have done in this video. Or is it easier to learn the switch foot jump from toeside to good side like all the other gybe tutorials are recommending.. to me it seems easier to do the shuffle step while gybing as you are doing in this video

    Thanks for the Video. I really like your jibe style!! Do you think with a 7 or 8 (I have your same wing but in 8 sq m) in the same wind conditions, would it be harder or easier to Foil? Martin

    Looks very cool, great video and tips! Besides the 1050 HPS, what is your fuselage and rare wing size?

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers! I use the short fuselage, but I'd recommend the ultrashort. My rear wing is the 400 flat speed.

    • @DownwindFrother
      @DownwindFrother 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      May I ask why the short fuse? I assumed the longer fuse would have more glide. Is it possibly harder to pump up to foil?

  • @apricotscrub
    @apricotscrub 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does the 1:1 weight volume ratio work best, or does a slightly higher volume board work better, im on a 1.2:1 volume:weight ratio.

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience a 1-1 ratio works best. I've tried board slightly larger than my 75L (e.g. I tried to F-one rocket 85L), and it was certainly 'stickier' when trying to pump up. What I haven't tried is an even smaller board (e.g. 60L).. hopefully one day soon.

  • @stevencarter6350
    @stevencarter6350 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks very light, awesome. When pumping seems to be a lot of flapping in the wing and wing tips (playback at 0.25 speed). Is that good? Do you change pressure for light winds?

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting observation. I don't change the pressure for light wind, but this was at the end of my hour long session, and I have recently noticed the wing losing some PSI (I've been using it a huge amount over the past year). The canopy and general shape of the wing is certainly looser which has negatively affected my upwind performance, but I still seem to be getting up just as easily. It would be interesting to try a brand new identical wing (then I'd be able to give you a better answer!). Thanks for the question.

  • @apricotscrub
    @apricotscrub 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    what about using the 8m cwc instead of 6m, wouldnt the 8m give you an advantage or is the 6m better than the 8m due to needing to pump? I have the 8m, nd cant get going in the winds you are getting up in.

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never tried the 7 or 8m. But from what I've seen, the wider wingspan might make it more difficult to pump up with. Also, when I'm in flight, you'll see the wing tip very very close to the water... if the span was wider, I wouldn't be able to have the wing as flat to the side of the board (it's most efficient mode). But with taller people, this probably isn't an issue. I'm a cm short of 6ft.

  • @wingfoilingsimssee

    Same technique. Same board. 70 kg. For the no wind time😂 I use 8sqm and 1440 FW. Great feel…
    For the lulls it needs pumping the board only sometimes.

    why did you go with the hps 1050, is it because of the high aspect ratio? Why not use the 1300 or 1310 they are also high aspect ratio and are supposed to work in low winds.

    • @SailChaser
      @SailChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I chose the HPS1050 over the PNG wings for speed reasons. Yes the 1300 would get you up super easy, but they're not as playful once foiling. I would love to try the 1310 at some stage though (probably for dock starting).

    • @apricotscrub
      @apricotscrub 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SailChaser when you say less playful, do you mean less ability to turn? when you say speed reasons, do you mean hps 1050 is more efficient at staying up , or are you not concerned about staying up, rather just going for a higher top end speed?
