Three things make humanity the greatest force: (1) The ability to martial an entire civilization for war. That has been done multiple times already. (2) The drilling of military practices. Newfound combatants are not sufficient. Correct practices must be of a near automatic nature. (3) Most importantly, innovation. War changes and so must tactics. Those that can't innovate will fail.
For hundreds of thousands of years, humanity has fought and killed eachother. Even in the age of primitive cavemen, they bludgeoned eachother with clubs. Conflict has only grown and become more horrifying, with humans inflicting pure cruelty on one another in the name of nations. We are a species built for war, to retain our indomitable will and spirit in attrition. For the stubbornness and adaptability of humankind will not allow itself to be extinguished in the face of extinction. If humanity unified under one banner, we can only look outwards. The best way to describe it would be a well-oiled war machine constructed to mass produce conflict, conquering, and triumph. Even the weakest of hearts would take up arms if it meant our people were under threat, if the human species as a whole was under distress, we can count on every person to volunteer in the name of the defence of humankind. For war, is in our nature.
I couldn't agree more, science fiction is such a great place to showcase humanity's glory and cruelty in the face of an unkind universe. If you get the chance check out the "Forever We Fight" Halo trailer which illustrates how Master Chief if the culmination of thousands of years of human bravery. He is us, and yet we are him.
