- On Monday, November 20th, we set out for late-night testing of Amtrak's new ALC-42 locomotives. They would perform their test runs on the Hudson Line for the future replacement of the GE P32AC-DMs. Enjoy!
I like the way they left the lights on in the engine bays. I've never seen that. They look so neat and clean!
I've seen that on other videos of Chargers. Don't have the foggiest idea why they do it. Sort of like a wrist watch with a skeleton back. Cute, but what's the purpose. In fact, why have that open part at all.
Makes them extremely identifiable from afar. I spotted a VIA Charger the other night while approaching a crossing at dusk.
You’ll see these daily when these enter service along the Empire Corridor in 2029 -2030
Enjoy those full P42 sets while you can, Im on the West coast and when those chargers took over, full P42 sets became rare.
Cool video! These look way better than the SC-44 variants.
Thank you! They’re stylish indeed.
Sweet catch of the MOW train at Croton Harmon.
1:08 interesting to see NH livery on something other than the New Haven Line.
It is just a heritage unit after all
They are soo quiet. i am gonna miss that beefy diesel engine sound of the P32.
They have "dual-mode" Chargers? Other than "dual-mode", what is so unique about the Hudson Line that there needs to be testing?
it forms the southern part of Amtrak's "Empire Corridor" as well.
Not yet they are under development at siemens.
Airo sets will soon takeover, which will use ALC-42E Chargers to power the sets.
I heard they already used the ALC-42s on the West Coast.
Yes, but not the East Coast.
Yup on the surfliner and coast star light I have some vids of them on my channel if you wanna check it out
@@lmsrail soon...soon
@@lmsrailyes they do, but not the east coast entirely.
@@lmsrail Are these the ones getting the Aux Power cars? the ones that can use the overhead when on the NEC.
Are those the Siemens sets?
The sets are still being built, with only a few cars nearing completion at the facility. These are just the usual ALC-42 locomotives that have been out for a few years now. This test is likely in preparation for Airo sets though.
かっこいい!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
that was awesome video
I thought Amtrak was replacing their P32AC-DMs with SC-42DMs!!!
They are these are just testing on Hudson line so when SC-42dm arrive they'll know what to expect.
@@TheRailcarbusguy Oh ok, I know Amtrak, Metro-North Railroad, and Long Island Railroad are getting SC-42DMs!!
@@kevinb8881 Good to hear 👍
@@TheRailcarbusguy Yes, and they're only being used exclusively for MNRR, LIRR, and Amtrak Empire Corridor service in and out of New York Pennsylvania Station, this should be interesting!!
@@kevinb8881 Yep
Sad the first of that order 300 is done already using it for parts after its bad crash only lasted a little more then a year.
are alc-42's allowed in new york penn or grand central
I don't know if they're allowed right now. But the Amtrak Airo trainsets they'll eventually run with will come with the electrification needed so that these ALC-42s run on electric mode without diesel power. I'm pretty sure at that point they will be allowed in Penn and Grand Central.
很用心的视频,很好看的火车
All trains in USA are old. In Latin America we have modern trains
Stop the cap
these are new trains testing. and no, latin america does not have modern trains. what a dumb comment
