    I've taken my 2000 PreRunner over all kinds of crazy terrain. It's a workhorse of a truck. Great seeing others put these 2wd mountain goats to the test!

    Very cool…congrats!!! Yup a rear locker will make a 2wd Taco do some cool stuff. Re-gear it and it will crawl a lot easier over those obstacles.👍🏼

    Thanks for sharing your experience, looking to overland at Big Bend this year in my 2wd 2017 Tacoma!

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I have an '04 Tacoma TRD PreRunner myself and have been on many off road adventures with it. You find out just how capable they really are. Eventually I wanted the ability to tackle tougher trails (Which is why I bought a 4Runner).

    Great video! I know it's a old video now but let me back you up. I have a 1996 suburban c2500 with a G80 locker. The 42 gallon tank behind the axle with the factory locker and the 3/4 ton hight that's almost as high as the 4wd version is a beast! Snow and mud no problem with tire chains on highway tires. I Mainly do forgotten forest roads so the terrain is mainly flat with over growth. What really gets my goat is that how many people thing 4x4 is unstoppable in snow or ice... I carry chains regardless and have owned allot of 4wd drives. For me chains are a must. Great vid!!!!

    lets go! I just got a 2022 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x2 because a 4x4 in my area was a many month wait for a new truck and I wanted a new truck now, it was the right time in my life. I was worried at first and hesitant because I wasn't sure how much difference the 4x4 would make and if the 4x2 would fill my needs. After watching this video I feel much better about my purchase and feel that with the right mods and practice we can perform even better on this trail than you did here. This video was a great down to earth and honest experience which is exactly what I was looking for. Great job.

    Big Bend is our “home park” and we are out there at least twice a year if not more. Great video and it is definitely much more gnarly than the video conveys. I did it the opposite direction and climbing that obstacle was fun. When I did black gap it was wet because of recent rains.

    So awesome to see you accomplished your goal, I just got my girl a 3rd gen 4Runner it’s RWD, soon we will be installing a rear locker, it’s amazing what they can do for not being 4WD

      Thanks for watching and the kind words! I bet she will love that 4 runner with the locker. Makes it a very capable vehicle.

      4WDTACO what locker were you guys thinking of adding? I have the same rig

    • @4wdtaco678
      @4wdtaco678 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bryanrocha7468 either ARB or a true trac diff lock, the lockers are like 2k installed and the the diff locker will run you about 1k installed, difference being the diff lock will activate anytime your wheels start feeling some spin, with e locker you can pretty much turn it on as you please

    I have a 04 red just like yours. I would love to do some things like that, I have already done so here in Alabama on Cheaha Mountain. Now I've got that itch to do more, great video. I've taken a lot of guys camping in the Boy Scouts in the past. Now I would really like to get out in the middle of nowhere.

      Thanks for the kind words. We really do love these first gen Tacoma’s. That are amazing. And red is the BEST color! Thank you for watching and go get out there!

    I've always been a chevy guy and had to get rid of mu beautiful 89 k1500
    I just got an 03 Toyota tacoma with the RR Diff lock and it's all new to me it's got 227K and some nice mods rock sliders and a sweet front bumper I just wanna know of these trucks really hold their value in reliability and this video made me more confident im still a little hesitant to take it out on a trail but I really wanna do it mostly to get muddy. Can these trucks have just as much fun as a 4x4

    • @nathanknight7443
      @nathanknight7443 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! The rear locker makes these trucks very capable and in some situations better than a truck with 4x4 and no locker. I would encourage you to add a reliable winch and make sure you have a good tire for off road. I drove mine all over Arkansas through mud and river crossings etc. with no issues. Only weakness was a slick muddy hill. Winch would have helped me a ton! That’s why I added it. Thanks for watching!

    Momentum, used to hit 4wd trails in rear wheel drive cars years ago....

    • @ozark_outdoor_family2783
      @ozark_outdoor_family2783  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s true. As long as the suspension can handle the impact, or you don’t mind the carnage, momentum can get you to a lot of the places a 4wd can. And in a much funner fashion!

    Is your truck lifted at all and what tires are you running?
    I have a stock '21 TRD OffRoad with full RCI skids/sliders and have run all of Old Ore Road with it on the factory Wrangler Adventures but am looking to upgrade to better tires for the next trip. How much clearance do you have underneath ?

    • @ozark_outdoor_family2783
      @ozark_outdoor_family2783  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This truck was stock with slightly larger falken wildpeaks. No real extra clearance beyond factory. The wildpeaks have really impressed me. Our goal was to go wider with our tires for traction not really go taller. Thanks for watching!

    Is your truck a prerunner worth the rear lockers?..or is 4x4?

    • @ozark_outdoor_family2783
      @ozark_outdoor_family2783  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s for watching! The grey truck in this video is the prerunner. Our red truck is the 4wd one. The rear locker was more than enough for the trail. In fact I barely used it.

    Did you air down all 4 tires or just the rear?

    • @nathanknight7443
      @nathanknight7443 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I lowered all 4. Helps with the ride if nothing else.
