  • Hey guys , so I’ve been working on my truck and I was finally at a level where I felt ready to take her off road . I hit a trial that’s not that well known but never the less it’s a great trail and recommend it for any one trying to have a good time ! It’s located on the San Bernardino National Forest and it’s on road (1N09)

    Took my 2WD '99 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9 off road up a couple mountains over the weekend. Was a little surprised by how well a 2WD can do off road with a little bit of patience and common sense. Might need to get a small lift on my Dakota though, as I did scrape the ground a couple of times, though not too hard thankfully.

    Super stoked to see another 2.7L 2WD guy out there. I also have a 2.7L SR5 2WD 6 speed auto trans. So far, I've installed a 7" suspension lift, 35" tires, and I have a Fab Fours steel bumper. It's a daily driver, but I do need to trail ride more with it. This video definitely gives me the inspiration to do so! You got yourself another subscriber, sir.

    • @odyssey_4x482
      @odyssey_4x482  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ernie garcia tbh Big Bear/ San Bernardino has a lot of off road trials where 2WD high clearance vehicles can make it through. I did Holcomb Valley road (3n16) * not Creek* all with the Tacoma with out a problem . Just aired down , and took my time . Regarding this trial you should have no problems as long it hasn’t rained days before .

    • @meateaterwhitetail7291
      @meateaterwhitetail7291 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you have a traction control or lsd. You should do ok. Lockers even better. Airing out your tires down to 20psi helps.

    • @mauriciojaracuaro6111
      @mauriciojaracuaro6111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good clearance, good tires, and choosing the right lines is all you need most of the time. Obviously not going to go rock crawling but there’s a lot of trails in SoCal that don’t require 4wd I’ve done quite a bit in my taco, 2WD also btw. Id recommend Holcomb valley rd, it’s an easy fun trail to just get out of the city 👍🏼

      Pretty much ! Ngl I paid a hefty price. This trip went well, and it was fun . Few weeks later I went to big bear and ended getting stuck , it cost me 400$ for a 4x4 “recovery ” I also had to walk 40 minutes to get service to make the call , I waited 2 hours thinking some one would drive by but nothing . the guy spent less than 5 minutes to pull me out of the hole I was stuck in . 1 week later I bought a keep and traded the Tacoma in lol .

    This isn't "Off Road" this is "Dirt Road"

    • @odyssey_4x482
      @odyssey_4x482  4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The definition of ROAD “ a specially prepared surface in which vehicles can use” - google . So this falls short of that definition, the word OFF is defined as “away from “ -google so if you put both words together based on definitions it would be “ away from -prepared surfaces for vehicles “ . So yes It’s off road , now there is different levels of off-roading . easy trials to hard trails to rock crawling . This was on the easier side of off roading , with out a doubt .
