I appreciate folks like yourself who effectively ask for players to hit the breaks a bit and try to see the big picture. Lotta guides and the like tend to assume players have all the characters or have high investment, meanwhile the average player is often not really that far along, or worse, they have followed a lot of advise for damage and the like and have made their late game experience worse.
As a long time Genshin player I didn‘t get the 1. point for such a long time and then wondered why I kept dying in MoC. I was so stuck in the Genshin mindset of giving supports more damage as soon as their main requirements are fulfilled. I only started dropping this mindset after starting watching guides in like 1.6 and afterwards clearing became so much easier with the same team now that my eg Pela and Tingyun don‘t get one shot anymore lmao
Yeah in Genshin there is a lot more dmg dealer off field that also give some buffs or massive buffs, and since is an action game you can actually bridge the gap of being squishy with playing better and dodging enemies attacks. In HSR and any other turn base combat game you can't avoid enemies hitting you, so defensive stats become more valuable.
Something that's worth mentioning about power creep is that, if done properly and with a little moderation, in a way it does also make the game more accessible to newcomers. If you come in deep into the game's life and the game expects you to have all these 5 stars from all over the game's life to be able to clear MoC it's going to be incredibly hard for you to ever get into endgame content because you're going to have to wait for reruns that might take months or years to come. On the other hand, if you're able to just jump into the game and casually pull an Acheron, Pela and Gallagher from Acheron's banner you now have a fairly viable (if not necessarily optimal) core for at least one of your two MoC teams (and which you're able to use to farm other content), and you're able to enjoy much more of the game than if you were sitting around hoping for like, a Seele rerun because she's forever the best Hunt character. It's only when the difficulty increases too much to accomodate for power creep and Acheron, Pela, Gallagher is no longer a good enough core so you NEED like Acheron, Sparkle, Fu Xuan to even stand a chance that problems start to happen.
Your videos have helped me get back into HSR and feel more comfortable with letting go of the min-max mindset that originally killed both Genshin and HSR in my mind. Like you always say, there's nothing wrong with playing the game that way as these games almost feel like a "chose your own adventure", but I fell down the rabbit hole of min maxing anyways. Glad to find creators with your type of thoughts, thank you.
Awesome, awesome video. I really like that you discussed these topics in a way that brings some perspective and helps us think about own our situations rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all approach. I think our perspective on powercreep is skewed right now by Acheron. She was going to be the best DPS on release no matter what, both to induce sales and to avoid the kinds of complaints Genshin got when Raiden Shogun wasn’t as overpowered as she could have been. That’s what happens when they try to avoid powercreep, and they’ve learned their lesson.
I’ve decided to go a bit more vertical investing. It just takes soo long to build a character that I can’t keep pulling new characters so much. I just decided to grab acherons s1 because of that. She’ll be someone I use for a long time and I have sufficient sustains for my account that I won’t miss aventurine
I actually like your way of talking, the vibe feels very genuie relatable and probably makes you a bit different from others. And don't be pressured to answer people's character building questions. Forgive me if I be rude but I don't get why people ask those specific questions, to me those are like math questions (at least easier than tho cuz I'm dumb). You have a problem, find the recipes online, have some considerations, takes some time but done. What I find more difficult to find is knowledge obtained through experience, like what you've been telling us all this time. So yeah keep going, keep rising, keep nutting, nut nation shall one day rule the world 🗿🔥
Instead of a video about stat allocation should have been about stat enabling options like Aventurine or Fu Xuan because they easily enable you to build supports for sub DPS while taking away most of the risks that come with it. Cba to watch the entire video before forming an opinion, altho I dont have said two characters mentioned,I do know that this is the easiest and safest way to ever enable going for supports as support/sub DPS/filler damage
Man as soon as I figured out Stats > Sets, it was a game changer. Now I just farm generic sets, so if I get lucky and get 2 or 4 peice that help, cool. But yeah my best characters are all rainbowed
Sustains are the only non-dps units I will even consider building outside their "main job." Gepard and March want effect hit rate, and my Lynx is build for break effect cause she's consistently overhealing anyway, and doesn't tend to need huge speed (running around 120 w/ hp boots).
Nutty, you’ve become me favorita honkai Star Rail CC. You talk about things i always wanted other cc wanted to talk about. (Rly not a fan of “Nut nation” thingy, but rly like your humor and not making every video in a boring “gamer room)
loved the intro and the outro, so fun, lol Also I think HSR does encourage more horizontal account building because it has more element in place to make just about every character viable, whereas Genshin can be punishing just due to A) characters that cant reach the enemy, B) the dreaded kill both boss enemies within a short time or they respawn C), some characters clearly are meant to be off the field supports. on the other hand, the infinite reviews (basically) in Genshin means folks can just whip out revice food midbattle, HSR, only has one reviver. Also SU blessings also make just about every character in HSR viable
You make a great point, but I definitely build my Tingyun for damage for the sake of her dmg boost to my Clara. But other support like Pela and Asta, I agree the kit offers attack options but I'm not using them for that anymore.
100% agree on stats > sets. If you get good rolls on a rainbow set it's completely possible to have better stats than compared to mediocre stats on a 2/4 piece set. Ofc having god rolls on set is ideal. But if your rolls are good enough on off set pieces just upgrade them. It works just fine
Just celebrating my first month playing Honkai Star Rail. 👏👏👏 Thanks for taking into consideration newbies like me. Your video is very informative and helpful.
I love how everyone is still pushing for Nut Nation. 💀 That’s a banger right there. Haha Side note, I don’t think power creep currently exist in HSR the way the community keeps trying to push.
yo you going outside touching grass and talking about hsr is very cool, would like to see this again. edit: nut nation is best nation, thank you for allowing me in nutty
I guess that I say for all the, now dead, Nut Nation: you're the best english speaker content creator for HSR. Your advice always take into account the gacha nature of the game and try to be devoid of sensationalism (aka "clickbaity things") while also beign very honest and polite. Excellent job!

Great video. That being said, never go into voice acting please :D
wanna mention bc you talked about rainbow sets that rainbow set is pretty good when you're starting to build characters like i'm starting to build my asta at tb level 70 bc i realized how much i need her build i'm aiming for 4 piece hackerspace but currently i have a rainbow set just better substats she does have 2 piece hackerspace already and my sparkle kinda has a rainbow set as well having 2 piece hackerspace and i want 2 piece longevous on her as well but the crit dmg body i got for her has no speed so she's using a wastelander piece that used to be on my dhil just bc of the speed substat it makes her speed just high enough that i can comfortably use her so don't ever pressure yourself to put a full 4 piece set on a character esp when you're only now starting to build them same goes for planar ornaments my friend's tingyun has a broken keel hp orb with really good substats but the closest thing to what she needs for a link rope could only be achieved by giving her rutilant so you can do that too if the stats are better than the piece from the needed set and replace it when you get a good piece from the other set
As far as being worried about power creep is concerned, your point is well taken. It's a game... nothing more. If power creep gets out of control we will all just quit playing lol. The problem will take care of itself. If you hate your Jingliu because of Acheron or because of Boothill or Sam etc. That's on the player not the game developer.
Thinking that powercreep would render some characters redundant is a bit dumb. If you look at the nihility path today, its pretty broken with acheron and black swan doing tons of damage while also debuffing enemies. The thing is, last year when kafka initially released, a DoT nihility team is considered pretty niche as much better characters like blade existed and kafka needed a bit more investment. Until now i dont really regret getting kafka at the time as personally, DoT teams are really satisfying and fun to play with. There may be much better teams who do more damage but the point is to just do your own thing and have fun, its not like anyone's forcing you to pull for these characters and there's always reruns.
Could you make a video about the best times to use your buffs and debuffs to maximize their effectiveness? As an example, I never know when to use my Pela ult to maximize it. During her turn, after her turn, during the dps turn? I habe no clue.
Ah, what an insanely good video with based takes as expected! Some well placed humor here and there (had me laughing so much). Very good work Mr Nutty, keep it up! Can't wait for next video xdd
Man, I need to see how they even eat to higher difficulties in MOC and PF, cause I just cannot hit thresholds without getting the exact relic piece i need for say, speed or EHR. It still baffles me how you can even get to 135 SPD
Awesome video, I’m considering to give my black swan one def piece just cause she’s so squishy 😅 I have a question about aventurine, if I wanna use hyper speed sparkle would that ruin his shield rotation? I’m tired of farming speed stats for my hyper carries. lol
Phenomenal video. I'm over here about to make a joke about how you're getting isekai'd into Nut Nation as you slide out of your chair and then you just fucking did it. You actually did it. Absolute madlad 11/10 👏
I'm working on vertical investment right now. Acheron is my project and I won't be finished farming Pioneer set or World 9 SIm Universe until her relics on set are stellar. So I will probably be living in those modes for 2 more months lol. My Silverwolf and Pela that I always run with her are not in optimal builds either and don't even have level 15 relics yet haha. Yet im 35/36 stars on MOC and close to clearing Pure Fiction full stars but not quite yet. Seems to me my problem is sub par gear not teams or champs. Vertical investiment is where it's at once you have 8 or 10 good champions.
btw for sups choose sup over main stats i fopr example hv a 9 speed fire dmg bonus orb fur my asta and i wont replace it for surviability because the 9 speed is just so good
23:00 But ... I guess I'm not human cause I'd be happy if all the limited characters were equal. 😢 I'm happy Acheron is broken because she's cool but I'm gonna need Hoyo to slow it down cause I'll be really sad if everything after is this strong. I would like to use favorites instead of newest. 😭
I think Gunaifen is better than Asta for Acheron. Although as a unit, Asta provides more to a general team, Gunaifen can apply a lot more debuffs frequently (can also use Resolution Shines). Generating a faster ult uptime for Acheron is more important imo. She brings increased atk, skill, and ult dmg through Acheron's A2 trace, just for being on the team. Guin also reduces effect res at E1, which is helpful for her and other team members land debuffs, and obviously Firekiss. I think the new player team comp is: Acheron, Gallagher, Pela, Guinaifen. Replace Guin with 5 star debuffer later (Black Swan, Silver Wolf, new unit). Just imo.
Well powercreep in gacha games is a permanent topic. We can split the word "powercreep" in two main "problems". And these are 1. consistency and 2. pacing. And here's the big problem with consistency in Star Rail in my opinion. Every pure DPS character will fall off the high ranks in tier-lists eventually, it's gacha. But. Let's look at Jingliu. Yeah, she was strong, comfy to build and to a certain extent comfy to use, and now she's gradually falling off. And, on the other hand, we have DHIL. And that's where things are getting, in my opinion, nasty. He initially had some natural restrictions in his kit, but he was still strong. Strong, but not overpowered. Harder to build but shining brighter when optimised. Also he's Imaginary which is always a plus and he's much more flexible with his damage distribution which makes him generally the same level as Jingliu. Jingliu is forced to E when she's in her buffed stance even if there's a lonely mob with 1,5 HP on the field in this wave while DHIL can do anything he wants with his SP at any given moment. So one could've clearely see their pros and cons before pulling one of them. I made my choice and pulled Jingliu since I was OK with her restrictions and wasn't OK with DHIL restrictions (his SP consumption obviously). And then The Sparkle Incident happened. DHIL suddenly got buffed so damn hard he became just broken. And what about Jingliu? She didn't get any new supports since her release, her best supports are still a 4* Tingyun and a standard banner Bronya. Then Seele got buffed in mono Quantum as well (and who knows what Robin might bring to her, I saw some footages of Seele in Pure Fiction simulation with Robin and it was crazy). Jing Yuan too (though he instantly got powercrept by Acheron again but still, he rised up and now he's higher than ever in DPS value list). So these three guys were buffed , some of them overbuffed, and some characters (Jingliu and Blade) got nothing... well, technically Blade got Lynx but you know, it's a minor improvement. And it kinda makes me (and I guess should make everyone else) think wether I should choose characters to pull by reading what they do and how they do it or by guessing characters that are beloved by HoYo (I mean, Jing Yuan is getting buffs again and again, and he's everyone's favourite). And the right answer in the latter I guess. It's already hard to find a way to buff Jingliu in my opinion (maybe a crazy Harmony that gives a ton of ER to a single ally but that will buff other characters significantly as well). For Blade it might be a some sort of taunt. But. Will we get these buffs? Will HoYo look at these characters ever again? There's no telling, and that's what saddens me. Again, if you powercreep, make it consistent, make it for everyone, make it fair and not "OH LOOK THERE'S-A-SPARKLE, LOOK AT DHIL SUDDENLY BREAKING HIS FAIRLY PLACED LIMITS BECAUSE HE'S HOYO'S FAVOURITE". Bleh. Damn, what a big chunk of useless text I wrote. Sorry for that.
Powercreep is annoying to think about, but the alternative is "characters with different hair colors and hats coming out and just doing the exact thing that other characters already do." Reverse 1999 (off topic I know) was interesting because the "base" outline for the characters were all the same in terms of what single target attacks do and what AoE attacks do. But newer patches have characters that have the usual defaults and then a ton of other extra shit (including a certain character who is so strong that the Prydwen tier list invented a new tier just for her). Characters being more interesting and stronger means that combat can be more interesting, but because you're not guaranteed to have them, it means you can slowly get phased out by content, or at least FEEL like you are, which is the important thing. Gepard as a tank still works just fine, but Fu Xuan and Aventurine do his entire kit with just their skills with some cool extra stuff on the side. It's also insane to me that miss "literally gives you more skill points" and "instakills world enemies" came out like, back to back.
Honestly i dislike this train of "must pull" crap, like basically every single characters from Ruan Mei forward is putting the bar higher and higher, while they dont give a crap about at least some farmable shuffle item for the god awful gear, my DD is sitting on like 140% crit dmg and barely 50% crit rate for Planar requirement, and its actually worse with rainbow gear since some set give great bonus stat like %atk/%dmg dealt.

Jingliu + Luocha storyline isn't over yet, so that's something to consider. For that matter, Tingyun's as well.
@@yubaa, it doesn't mean she'll get any buffs though. Well, only time will tell.
10/10 yapping 👏

believe in the unicorn set,
optimisation and 4 piece set is an illusion.
You cant kill nut nation. 😤 its an ideal that will live on for eternity
Bro where the fuck did you
Bro is carving a unique niche in a gacha community and I am here for it, would be difficult and slow but the community would be *chef kiss*
Can someone explain the context for this nut nation thing? Lmaooo
He just randomly said nut nation once as a joke in the intro and people stick with it
Cause you know, nut jokes
He does a different intro joke each vid. 2-3 vids ago he said "Hello nut nation" and the comments went crazy about it.
Still can’t wait for the full video CD > CR because the game gives you 5% CR for free you just have to hit all your crits to do damage
Remember: Drink Water Evryday And Eat Well
Have a good day :)
bro just used dragon ball z as an example for powercreep hahaha 19:35

You don't have to acknowledge the nut-nation, but we are what we are. 🫡
Phone power creep is real fr 🥲
If I can learn to be content with my present situation in a gacha game, that can apply to real life too huh
