@@elipticalecliptic481 this is the problem with 3D pokemon. pre 3d battles were abstracted and your mind fills in the gaps. but once you introduce realism, all levetate pokemon should be off the floor becaue thats what would make sense in game. the suspension of disbelief only does so much when its not abstract

i would much rather have these animations that occasionally contradict in game lore, than the current lifeless animations that make me wish we were back to 2d battles

Y'know as neat as these animations are it does bring up the uncomfortable question on what Unown feel like, are they fleshy? Rubbery? They're clearly not just rigid shapes so what are they made out of?

Well they're what the alphabet is based off of, so I can only imagine a sort of hydraulic-like internal structure allowing for fluid movement, but instead of water, it's alphabet soup.

@@Skullkid6996 not even Gamefreak knew much about how to handle their own creations back then when Pokémon Stadium 1 was developed. It became the base of everything that came after.

Colosseum's animations have made me see Unown in a new light. They're adorable! I especially like "T" and "W" animations

Modern Unown have unique animation too, though. Unown’s one of few Pokémon that don’t have an inexpressiveness problem in the main games.
I think the point was this game gives them even more expression and movement and differentiates them heavily.
I noticed that when I played BDSP and caught em all for the hell of it. It's cute.
Not about Unown, but in Colo and XD, Lunatone and Solrock would have different idle animations if they're out together. This is something modern games severely lack!

Most "fans" robbed themselves of this experience, by still purchasing GameFreak games every time they release something. So they'll never feel as if they need to change anything. Why would I as a owner spend more money when I can take advantage of people for less quality while making more money

I honestly love Unknowns so much. Something about their designs eminates charming mysteriousness in a very effective way. I guess it's because they are just letters with eyeballs , which is an abnormality in something very familiar to humans.

This game is nearly 20 years old and has better animations than SV. Genius Sonority really deserves another chance to develop a mainline Pokémon title.
Well this game wasn't made by Game Freak so naturally it's going to have remarkably better quality.
That's not even true as the DP remakes weren't made by Game Freak.

b) Game Freak isn't the only bad studio
Also FYI, it was pretty well revealed that most of the game code for Diamond and Pearl was reused as many of the same glitches work in the remakes.
Plus, as BDSP revealed, it may not necessarily just be GameFreak’s fault but rather the timeframe a Pokémon game demands.
Please stop throwing GameFreak under the bus.
If they had more time they probably could... but TPC has to tight deadline them leading to logistics issues.

That's not an excuse when their games are bare bones already. They have all the assets they need, the Pokemon models, basic player models, etc. If they were making a game from scratch, or making something along the lines of an actual AAA game I'd agree, but they're not.

What an era for Pokemon. I still adore Colosseum and the Stadium games. I just wish they were given proper full-on ports for Switch so we could import some favorites into them and mess around.

What I find interesting is that some Unown have seemingly unique personalities, as the one that looks similar to "i" shows a bit more emotion in it's movements. This game was incredible for its time.

This should have been the next big spinoff series for this franchise. Every year that passes without a sequel/reboot a piece of pokemon dies for me

They used to care so much they made individual animations for every single form of this pokemon that nobody would ever use
Back then, videogame companies put genuine, non-crunch-driven effort into their creations. That is the only reason they went through the trouble of animating every Unknown in Colosseum differently.

The difrrence is that nowdays well known companies are so stablish and well know that their name alone sells any sh1t, so they started to dont care anymore for most of the time.
