Late as hell to this game and your videos. You’re the only person who made actual informative and comprehensive content which is my favorite kind of videos. Thank you for all your effort. This videos are superb.
As a biotic player i utilize mostly "Charge" and "Nova" combo skills so i use the N7 Armor with Biotic and shield boosting augmentations. And i always carry ONLY one Gun to reduce my weight to the minimum. Less weight faster recharge timers. As for Profile i am using Mostly the "Adept" one. So my whole combo is revolving around faster recharge timers so i can Use "Charge" more frequently to replenish instantly my shields so i can use "Nova" (my nova is using shields instead of timers)
Thank you, Xaine! Yours are the best MEA weapon and armour guides out there. Exhaustive, sincere and with loads of visual demonstrations. I was planning on testing out many combinations myself but many of the weapon fire mods disappointed me greatly and I gave up before even starting. You are saving us so much time and trouble with these. Not to mention that your views on the pros and cons of all items are 100% spot on. Here's hoping that someone from BioWare's dev team comes across your analyses and gets inspired to improve and expand what we already have in game.
Another brilliant analysis video. I wish more people were doing these. You're absolutely right about the Shield Oscillator - fitting to that a chestplate just totally outperforms the other Special Augs. I ended up fitting the Heat Inducer to the Hyperguardian greaves and I can +1 the sheer impact it has (no pun intended). I can't tell if it has any particular increase against armour though. The only thing I will say is that might be an idea to give a bit of background on the Cryo Pod that opens up the extra Aug slot - I don't think there's many videos that explain the best pods to pick, it's likely people puzzling out armour crafting don't realise.
+Chris Mallon thank you :) and I have a cryo pod one planned, just not had chance to unlock them all yet as too busy making all these to finish my play through lol, but it's on the list :)
Xaine's World is there any chance you can do/have already done a video on the affects of weapon mods? For instance, I have no idea what exactly an SR scope does, given all SRs come with scopes and already shoot precisely where the crosshair is. Would be good to know which mods are duffers.
Thanks for the vid; helpful! Personally use the Electro augment in the chest piece to defend against surprise enemies that can get behind me (eg; those stealth critters). This, plus the EMP drone from the Engineer profile can grant me several seconds to decide my next actions: retaliate, withdraw, etc.
The heat damage module occasionally primes enemies for fire combo. It wrecks face when combined with the jump melee buffs from combat tree. Also, as VG every enemy you hit triggers shield siphon, so a group of 3 enemies completely fills your shield bar.
I'm a _religious_ user of the Disruptor leg augments, seeing as I'm very often finding myself against shields or synthetics. Fire is incredible for priming, but the sheer utility of Disruptor is undeniable. It seems like overall, be it gun or armor, Kinetic Coils are just the best stackable.
Captain Lackwit mostly. I'd probably still +1 the damage/recharge buffs for your chosen power set but yeah, outside of that, I can't see any point to anything other than kinetic coils. I guess shield boosters are useful if your armour doesn't already provide them. Coils don't work on anything not a chest plate.
Shield Accelerator (Stackable Augment) was inadvertently missed from the stackables list (just a general error) it's effects are 2% Health and Shield Regeneration Delay Reduction. Jump Melee Priming - @Chris 07 with a few after have confirmed that it is possible to prime with the jump melee when augmented with the leg special augment, though it is not a 100% proc and even with the melee primer skill is somewhat scarce. Had to put them both in the one comment to ensure the missed augment was visible to all.
I can confirm at least with the disruptor on the legs, you can prime enemies for tech combos with the jump melee shock attack. Although it doesn't happen too often even with the priming passive from the auxiliary systems. Most of the time I ended up killing most enemies outright with the jump melee before I could even proc the primed effect.
Yeah, if you are spec'd for melee the jump melee with any of the leg augments is borderline OP. It's like Nova on steroids. On insanity, I can charge a group of 3 red bar enemies do a jump melee and kill them all. Nova just sends living enemies flying.
Chris 07 What melee weapon do you use? I find this with the Asari Sword. I'm wondering if jump melee is based on a formula related to melee weapon damage or if it's calculated independently. I need to do some tests.
I believe Shiled Sensors could be actually really good pick for super tanky life based builds. I can imagine something like Sentinel in full Revenant Armour set with Fusion Mod of Health and Energy Drain with regen over time perk. Life Support will be probably main source of sustain but Shield Sensors are definitely going to help.
Great video. You've already covered armor modification on another video, right? I mean removable modules like Adrenaline boost that remove cooldown on kills. Lol, we can't use multiple Kinetic coils with it's +5 Defence so that we can't stack them for balance reasons, but can use multiple Support Power Modules that give a % buff to defense and above it a power recharge speed? Where is the logic in that? There are a lot of perks that increase it during some moments if I recall right and it can go beyond 200 at those times, which would already put it close. I would have thought about Medi-Gel regulators when going for a tank, however as far as I've noticed, there aren't enemies who're using Overload to remove your shields entirely this time. I can't recall a time in Andromeda when my shield was downed without taking a beating from weapons before that so it seems... useless? So either Shield booster or Support module? If of course it's second buff to power recharge works for all disciplines. Did I get it right? I still have a question about Biotics strength, the last stat that remained a mystery after armor was explained: does it still work as before ie increasing slam damage, weight of enemies lifted, distance they're thrown or lifted off the ground? Because I haven't seen anyone being able to lift heavy enemies like Euroch or Hydra up yet. Though it also seems that armor is completly immune to biotics now.
Thank you and yes the Fusion Mod video cant be found either on the channel page or in the card of this video on the right of the screen you can popout the card menu, I linked it there. I think +5 damage resistance is just worth more for the average player than all other 2% augments, so they made it a chest only item, it is stackable, just only on chest, +20 is still bangin'. The difference between support and shield booster is mainly whether you use resto and or defense powers, if you do use support if you don't then it's pointless. I have no idea how it worked before as this is myt first ME game and it makes sense to me that armoured wouldn't be lifted, it seems that unless you take a skill that explicitly states otherwise, you can do effects like pull and throw on shielded and armoured foes, only the force hits etc. I'm not very well schooled in powers, pretty much know nothing about biotics
Xaine's World so it's not +2% for ALL powers recharge? Only for support ones? Which of them count as this. Sorry, mistaken Kinetic Coil for being unique too. Good to know it's stackable even if only on chest. Definetly goes on Remnant one;) Previosly biotics force worked as... force ie physical characteristic. It was even shown in kN. Basically when it exceeded the weight of the enemy, you could send them flying, before that it was just slowing them down slightly and damaging a little. And the more the enemy weighted the more damage it got from being lifted and slammed down(you're basically playing with artificial gravity controls after all. 0G, 2G, 0G, 2G, 0G...). After all armor isn't creating a mass effect field around wearer like shields or barrier so it's a bit strange for it to be unaffected.
Power Restoration and Defence = Any Skill that has "Shield Restore, or -Defence Effects" Things being like Charge, Energy Drain, Invasion, Annihilation (perk) Biotic defence on effect (Perk for primers) It is not to be mistaken for player defence. Personally it is a worthless stackable as with the right Armour/ Class Rank / Perks you can get stupid amounts of power restoration and defence, Without ever needing to pick it in an attack skill/aug. 100 Damage Resist = 50% damage taken. Post 100 scales down.
Great video, as always. Every one of these analysis videos you've made has been SO helpful. Quick question, though: what exactly do the "Power Restoration and Defense" stats do? I've tried Googling it, and the results are very mixed...
yes it's worded annoyingly with no explanation. I'm fairly certain it is essentially a buff to all powers that restore health on action or buff armour etc, so a vanguard type passive that gives health on melee hit would give more due to this buff. I can't say exactly what it effects.
The restoration part multiplies thing like the amound of ahields restored by energy drain, biotic charge, shield drain specced pull, shield restore specced annihilation and it also increases the "health" restoration of your remnant vi and assault turret(if the restore perk is choses at rank 5), the defence part as weird as it sounds....reduces the amound of shield used when using powers like a shield powered lance or nova. Not sure how(or if) it works with health (when using the bio-converter for example)
Hey again:) as always, incredible guide, helped me immensely. My question is, does the shield oscillator stack if you put 1 into weapon and 1 into chest? Will you get 25% shield on kill + 25% shield when the clip empties? thanks in advance
Thx a bunch for the vid! I also wanted to ask, do you have any strategy how to get bio converters? I only have one and need at least 1 more, but its impossible to find any:( They dont seem to appear from those hidden caches (after taking the perk) nor by any merchant. Ive heard they drop from Kett Anointed, do you have any strategy how to farm it maybe? thanks in advance
+Peter Gejdos they can drop from most thing but have a varying low drop rate, the hidden caches have a good rate but it's still very low, the best are the big caches in vaults and the ones from architects, it took me most of my play through before getting a second then I got like 3 really quickly, basically just hunt for caches and play, eventually you'll get another. Out of the mobs shielded and such are more likely to drop than red bars.
I just found out prolly the best way how to get them. Ill just post it here, it might help ppl in the future. I dont take credit for it as this was posted by "ChrisHoxaTron" in gamfaqs. Also, spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution. "Felt like posting this, because it's a really good augment, having unlimited ammo and not depleting your spare ammo. You can farm it through killing a bunch of anointed (Heavy machine guys) after killing the cardinal you're expected to defend until extraction and leave with the moshae, however you can stay and kill and a never ending spawn of anointed until it drops the bio-converter. So this is how you get more than 1 bio-converter augment if you already used the one you researched using your heleus research data."
love your vids man very helpful!!! but i think you forgot to put "shield accelerator". I mention it cuz I put it in all my set armor piece. great video still, cheers :)
+Joey Albert Malig shit you are correct, I had it written down, artwork done and everything, but missed it when writing originally, dangit! Cheers for the heads up!
I've noticed on sets where the chest piece also uses the arm and leg slots, that the fusion mod you put on the chest, multiplies to the arms and legs. it even shows this on your inventory view when you equip the armor. I tested it in combat, and sure enough, if you use the assault mod for example, you now get 30% damage boost instead of 10%. I was not able to tell if augments also get multiplied however. I don't think they do, just the fusion mod.
I think it's due to the levels they are calculated, so the fusion mod would be applied after the previous buffs have been summed then applied, meaning the fusion mod multiplies a larger buff pool. Augments are summed then applied on a single level
righto. just being clear. I also compared to maverick armor at same level of weapon damage boost, and there clearly is more damage from the heleus with the assault mod. for my build, I prefer the extra weakspot damage, but for a soldier build, I'm thinking heleus is actually better than Kett, especially with the other bonuses.
I wonder - the arm augments, they specifically mention 'hovering' - presumably aiming while airborne. Does it have to be that or simply triggering the power in the air? I can imagine Charge + the biotic aerial one would be awesome but I never aim down the sights when charging.
I love coming back to this Doc of Damage Resistance docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eCiE0wINFP9IYPmS9fWBofJbUmdncxAv_DX6gOUSeyY/edit#gid=0 Long and short, the 20 Defence you get from the cheat means 16.7% less damage, that's pretty damn significant! Awesome vid as always, I love stacking shield buffs for the OP energy drains! Do you think you'll do an opinion vid about skills? I've found myself taking another look at cryo beam/invasion combo for blitzing down armoured foes and general laughs smashing frozen dudes with a krogen hammer
WTF? This is a bit false. There's no information on Shield Accelerator. Just talks about the stackables that improve damage/powers, but zero information on the defensive stackables other than chest. I have been using 2% max hp and 2% max shield. I have 2 each on arms and legs. My helmet has 2 Shield Accelerator. And my chest has the Kinetic Coils. Plus mumbling. WTF?
+Ecruos Edoc I do mention all defensive Stackables except for the accelerator which was an accidental oversight, my hand written list I had built wasn't fully straight and after looking back I realised I'd missed the shield accelerator, but that's the only one, making your comment saying there's zero info on the defensive a bit false really. The missing of the Shield accelerator has annoyed me greatly but no need for exaggeration.
It's not false. It is true statement. I wasn't referring to mentioning it. It is fact that the only ones discussed are the damage/power ones with zero on info about the defensive ones other than mentioning it.
I was being a little pedantic as you said Zero information, which the information for all but the accelerator is there on screen and I mention the fact that it is 2% to max health etc and as they are flat increases and very basic, they need no more explanation (referring to 7:49 )
Circular. This is completely irrelevant to the actual point. Then don't make a video if nothing needs actual explanation. Considering others were actually explained with zero explanation on the defensive ones. Anybody can see basic word for word information on all the augmentations. None of which gives information on what players should be using.
You would be surprised how many people haven't checked the vendor a number of times to ensure they know which ones actually exist or who would like to just see them on screen at the same time. I didn't say nothing needs explaining just not max shields and max health, the restoration and defense could have benefitted from it sure. You are ignoring the greater point of the video explaining exactly how things work, can only have 1 special augment, these are what you have to choose from etc etc, just because you already know something doesn't mean everyone else does. You came here, I didn't shove the video in your face
Late as hell to this game and your videos.

you have to aim and hold to enter hovering mod
9:40 - Combat Power Modul just triggered some OCD :3

+Biff Bash Bosh aye, I'll be doing one on my favourite loadout soon which involves cryo beam for that very reason with full skills armour weps etc
What cryo pod offers an editorial augment slot? I can't seem to find it.
I can't remember the name but it's doesn't appear right away, there are 28 pods total and a bunch of them unlock as you play, I think it's in science.
Thanks for responding Xaine. Ok I probably haven't unlocked it yet, I'm level 24 and there's only 19 cryo pods available.
+Eric Dunthorne nws and I think it's one of the later ones aye, just keep an eye out, you'll get it soon, I got it around lvl 40
how can i retrieve back an augment if i sold it without notice it. my last saved game is like 5hours before i notice.
+DovahkiinYuggoth87 unfortunately you can't get it back without going back, unless it's super important and super rare I'd prob just continue playing
Xaine's World im fucked up then. i lost plasma seeking and electric conduit. fuck 10 hours of wasted time! ty man keep going with this videos.
:( good luck in those drop rates man!
ComprehensWIVE? That's almost as bad as CarniFLEX :P
Holy shit, how the hell has no one mentioned that typo in the past 16 and a half months :O
