Can you cover any more information on the Axel types fitted to the One Ton, wheel size and any ratio changes??👍

Quite straightforward. Series IIA had ENV front and rear, except the final few which had Salisbury rears. Series III went back to ENV front and rear, before changing to Salisbury front and rear around 1974. Later still the front axle changed to the reinforced, 4 pin Rover diff type, although some very late vehicles were still getting Salisburies. Axle ratios were always 4.7:1 as per the standard Land Rover. Wheels were normally 6.5x16 with 9.00x16 tyres. Some late vehicles ran 7.50x16 tyres (still with the low geared transfer box!) seemingly with normal 5.5"x16 wheels.

I'm tempted to band my stock steels slightly to suit 900x16 tyres. They do look awesome. Then I'll go round telling people it's a 1 tonne just for you 😜

    Hi 👋🏻
Are you sure that Landy at 2:26 has 9.00 tires? 🤔

    Dear Sir,
A friend of mine ,years ago, bought two of the x-army series 3 109s ,they have very stiff and drop suspension with very low gear ratio, they have a 2.6 l engine,I was wondering weather they are 1 ton or not, year of make is 1971, shouldn't the chassis no. Indicate? Sorry they are series iia and not series 3

    Good video!
If you put “Land Rover series Harvey frost” into eBay there looks to be what seems a 1 ton……. Maybe! Series 3 but 2A front?? I’ve asked if he would advise me on its prefix numbers. I will let you know if he gets back to me. 👍

I see no evidence it's a 1 Ton, just a series 3 six cylinder with a IIA front. There seems to be a trend these days of adding the 1 Ton tag to pretty much anything series related, quite frustrating really! Considering how rare they are you can pretty much guarantee they aren't one.

It *is* on deep dish rims which is probably what's making you think it's one. Do let me know if he comes back with numbers, but I'd be very surprised if it was one.

@@onetonlandrover I was just intrigued seeming it had the crane on from new and was owned by the council. Doesn’t seem to sit very proud though. I will let you know if he sends me the prefix numbers. Some people think you want to clone them.! Lol.

      @@onetonlandrover prefix 941 so it’s a standard series 3, 6 cyl. Was worth a look though!
