That set up of stacked command tokens and crystal in your Goldyx card is so funny 😂, I’m like “why is it inverted?” Before reading the yellow text 🤣. Dang I can’t wait to play this again, I’m discovering new things always and sometimes, some rules error I committed. But for some reason I always get excited to try a game again to fully cover those mistakes and newly discovered tactics instead of getting annoyed or discouraged. This game is really something.❤
Great video! When I first got MK, I didn't understand the rules at all, and this vid helped my get a grasp of the game. Now I know which expansion to play next!!
Awesome! Just a note, when leveling up First take the skill, if you select yours then you can choose any AA, but if you select a Dumny skill from the pool the you’re force to always pick up the last AA . By picking up the skill first it is easier not to make a mistake ... congrats!
According to the Official FAQ: Do Wounds count as cards in your hand for the purposes of the Tactics “Planning”? Yes. The ruling about Wound cards not counting as cards is for the purposes of things like Improvisation, not for cards in hand So after you conquered the keep you should've drawn up to 7 cards not 6
I have been playing the base game now for about 3 weeks. Once I get a good grasp of the rules, this will be my next expansion play. Really enjoying your videos. Thanks.
Hi again ! good teaching. you will help people with their gaming. turn 2: I 'll follow your strategy, not adding other possibilities;MARCH + IMPROVISATION sideways 3move assault KEEP; 2 wounds; MANA DRAW; RAGE + gold & SWIFTNESS + white 7 attack; TRANQUILITY heal 1 wound :-) thank you for reading, Michel
Thx for this! Just learning this game. Just to clarify (cause I wanna make sure i'm understanding) at 24:30 if your Golems didn't have physical resistance they would have taken 2 wounds and you would have taken 1 in your hand and 1 in your discard?
Good first round! Mana search is always good for the first night. Alternatively just pick tactic 1 to ensure you go first (which saves you a turn on the Volkare deck), and then take mana search in the second night.
Contemplating pre-ordering the Ultimate Ed which includes the core game and 3 expansions. Due out around September, I think. Looks like a fun game for a rainy wknd (like this one here). Thanks for the upload, OSCS
Learning how to play on table top simulator, I wish I could play with you or someone that explains as well as you do haha, great video! loving the game so far
Love your videos, love your enthusiasm for the game! Also a great teacher :-) keep up the good work and please do more Mage Knight videos! Haha. Also I was curious which dice tray that is? It looks nice
What a great game, I am currently playing through all the characters for fun. LOVE IT! As for the dice tray, search on Amazon felted Dice Tray you will find it!
For tokens at first I used to put them pointing down and crystal in normal stand position to make some differentiation, cuz later in game when u won several of those and different colors, was easier for my playing group keep track what its what for the first games ( even more that some cards keep track if u use a mana token or a crystal) excellent video! Colin u need to play at least one scenario each 6 month 👍
well this first video hard focus on explain rules could be longer and take more work to edit but maybe a next scenario u can play it faster and just focus on strategy XD hehe
I like your thinking!!! We shall see the hard part is there are tons of other games to showcase, and Ricky has so many good video's of this game I am a bit redundant at this point. Still though, great advice and I will take it and mull over it. For now though, let's enjoy this one!
Hmmmm good question. So far I prefer Life and Death scenario from Tesla which will come out this Sunday. But I think it all depends on what you want to do. Conquest is just so fast with no worries about moving Volkare but it means you don't have to worry about movement as much. So I think it's nice to have the variety in scenarios!
Since your guardian gollems have physical resistance wouldn’t the attack of the mage be inefficient so that to wound them 6 physical attack points are needed."
yes I think you are right, when units have resistance and can soak the entirety of the incoming damage, they do not get wounded. Page 9 of the UE rulebook, under Assign Damage Phase.
No. That's not how it works for units. The only thing resistance (for units, not enemies) does is it lets the unit subtract their armor value once before wounds are assigned then all wounds are assigned normally. Without resistance, units first take a wound (or two for poison) and then subtract their armor. If incoming damage is greater than the unit's armor, then they will take a wound even with resistance. The only way to entirely avoid a wound is if a resistant unit has armor equal to or greater than the incoming damage. This is still better than without resistance as 5 damage against a non-resistant unit with 3 armor will result in a wound on the unit but 2 more damage to assign to either another unit or the Mage Knight. If the unit were resistant, the 5 damage is reduced to 2, then that 2 damage causes a wound to the unit but then the damage is reduced to zero so no additional damage remains to be assigned.
You know, they tell you that owning a keep is great, that you can use it for extra storage, it's defensible, prestigious, all the kind of stuff you'd expect. You know what a keep is not? Cheap. Yeah they don't mention that part. You gotta pay for staff, guards so that the staff aren't too scared to do their jobs, maintenance costs, you need to keep it stocked with food and weapons and armor, you gotta defend it from every jerkwad and their dog with a catapult and the big enough ego who think they can take it for themselves, repair costs, you actually have to defend the surrounding area from bandits and highwaymen... Honestly it's better to just ignore real estate as a hero, no one expects anything from you that way. When you swoop in and destroy some terrorizing monsters everyone's a-gush with thanks and gratitude. If you own a keep, well, then you only did your job, what do you want a medal? Yeah. It's a world of difference.
Hey Colin. When you fought the two mages and the one with poison attacked your Golem, Shouldn’t it’s damaged have been inefficient, so that it was halved?. In other words, you would have subtracted 3 from the 5 physical attack and then taken 0 Damage on the golem?
close! First you reduce by the armor of the unit if the unit is resistant. Then if there is any damage left over you wound the unit and reduce the damage again by the defense. Make sense?
So ones that have no resistance take a wound first. THEN you reduce damage by the armor. Resistant units reduce the damage twice. Once before taking damage and once after! How about that, make sense?
I am newer to Mage Knight, why wouldn't you use your Golem to block the Monk instead of Ice Mage? That would mean the mage then attacks the Golem and you would only get one wound on him instead of two since you blocked the poisonous monk. What am I missing?
Remember the Mage has Ice Damage and the golemn is not resistant to it, so he could only take one wound and I would take one wound. Plus for me I preferred taking out the ice mage as I thought the monk would be easier to take out in a later turn. But it is all up to you on how you want to play the cards. :)
For sure! Thank you for watching. Also know that I may make imperfect moves in the game as I am playing in real time, and hind sight is always 20/20 :)

Hi, I've just found out your gameplay and I am astoned by the level of its quality. Well done, man! One question: I didn't get why you can wound Guardins twice. I play MK occasionally, so I might forgot the rules, but I thought you can hurt unit just once. Is it because of that poison? Or it is because of level 2? And shouldn't it get 2 more wounds from second attack and poison? Thanks in advance for the explanation!
Hmm, I'm confused about your keep attack. You did not block it and played 4 cards to take it out while even wasting a move point. That seems excessive. Why didn't you play March for the regular 2 move and play Mana Draw sideways for the missing 3rd move point. Then take the 2 wounds from the enemy and play Rage with the gold mana for attack 3 and Improvisation with discarding Swiftness for a total of attack 7. This would have left you with Tranquility and you could have instantly healed 1 of the 2 wounds again!
That set up of stacked command tokens and crystal in your Goldyx card is so funny 😂, I’m like “why is it inverted?” Before reading the yellow text 🤣.

This is so good editing and explanatory video! I can see the whole lot of work that was put in this, congrats.
It was fun! Thanks for watching!

Great point thanks!! Doing that going forward!
"Oldie but a goody ". Good to see Mage on the table again.
Such a great game, rule heavy but who cares! Worth it!

@@OneStopCoopShop Just saw that you corrected that on your second video, sorry about that.
@@PatryckeF No problem at all! Thanks for watching!
This show why I like this game so much, always a lot of ways to use your cards. Great playthrough.
exactly I love it!!!
I have been playing the base game now for about 3 weeks. Once I get a good grasp of the rules, this will be my next expansion play. Really enjoying your videos. Thanks.
Nice!! Have fun and good luck!!
Guardian Golems are one of my favorite early game units! I was so excited when this vid showed up in my feed!!
WHOOT WHOOT! Yeah he is my favorite until I wound him 2 times hahahaha!! Now to figure out if I can heal him. . .
Fantastic explanations. Great job Colin.
Thanks Kevin!!
Just bought “Ultimate”. This video is going to be indispensable. Thanks
Enjoy and have loads of fun!!

Thanks George! Yeah thinking of Mana Search!! Thanks for watching!
Love the editing! Well done!
Thanks so much for watching!!
He Colin, yet another AWESOME (also called the „Colin word“) video with great explanation - thanks for keeping these coming up!
Thank so much Mixo!! Gosh DARN I love this game!! :)
At 24:15... I thought that Ice attacks could only be blocked by Fire Blocks, and not normal blocks like you mixed in from the Golems. Is that correct?
Normal block works just does half defense!
21:55 Ice and Fire damage can both be efficiently blocked by Cold-Fire as well.
Cool, I did not say that? Shoot sorry!!
Yesss! One of my favorite solo games!
Same here!!!

Been waiting for this!!
Whoot!!
Great playthrough. Goldyx is leveling up nicely.
So far so good!!
Not sure if this was already commented on, but wounds do indeed count as cards in hand for planning.
Yup i think I mention in the next video!
@@OneStopCoopShop I see that now! Liking the videos!

That die roll at 6:57 defied the laws of physics
BUHAHAHAHA Yeah the leather dice tray with the small dice. . I may change that next vid I don't like how the dice rolls. . . or doesn't roll
Is managing volkare worth the effort or do you prefer solo conquest
Hmmmm good question. So far I prefer Life and Death scenario from Tesla which will come out this Sunday. But I think it all depends on what you want to do. At 18:12, did you forget to move Volkare? You rerolled the mana die but I don’t think you moved him.
I think you are right! Bummer. . . I haven't recorded the next section I can fix that.

Great Video, like your close up views. But why didnt you get a knock out when receiving 2 wounds when fighting the enemy in the keep?
You only get knocked out when your hand size is equal to the wounds you have.
One Stop Co-op Shop ah, thx alot. I thought the wounds count already with the other non wound cards for watching if its equal the hand limit. :D
No problem thank you for watching!!
I received LL as a gift just yesterday! Can't way to try it!
Enjoy it man, it really makes the game better IMO. Having an essentially "moving" city is really fun to go against!
congratz!!!!

Not only did you make me laugh out loud but also gave me food for thought for a roleplay fan expansion for MK with the same kind of humour

For that again and it makes sense now. You are correct.
Cool for anyone else reading this details on page 8 of the rulebook! Upper right side.
