Some have mentioned/asked about STL files for the case. Here you go.

The "meh" one is the one from the video. The less meh is one I tried to tweak a little but I've not printed.
    Handle is pretty self explanatory.

Ya know I'd be here again reminding folks that Jamie's Hack Shack has the most thorough Hackerboxes unboxing and build videos. Period.

The Kenbak-1 replica looks fantastic! Nice job. Wasn't familiar with it so I will check it out.

Hackerboxes kept me sane during the pandemic - gave me something fun to do and learned new skills like soldering. Looks like a fun kit!

I’ve been using the online simulator together with the reference manual for quite some time now. It works flawlessly (as far as I am able to tell) and is surprisingly good fun.

Looks like a fun kit. I think my son would enjoy the binary counting part, but then again he learned how to use his fingers to count in binary

I think you're bashing your modeling skills too much, the case looks good. Are you going to post the STLs anywhere?

It's kind of wonky and stuff. I need to make both lips for the handles match. I'm really a bull in a china shop with tinkercad. I lack precision. I could share as is and still clean up. I think there is also one linked in instructable. There is also one I found while editing that is pretty good but may need a slight tweak to fit and match the angles of the panel. I'll find that one and reply back here when able. Thx for watching and commenting.

I dodged a bullet when I started to solder in two machine pin headers for the PicoRAM 6116 that I recently built. Thankfully I tried a test fit of the Pico into the header, and realized that I would have had to drive over it with my car to get those fat header pins on the Pico to mate with the machine pin sockets.
I buy my resistors in the large variety kits. The latest one has 3120 resistors across 156 different values. The reason I go this route is that there is someone in the universe whose job it is to label the header of each strip. That's the person we have to protect at all costs! It's worth the ~$22 bucks to not have to root through a pile with a meter to find the resistor that I need. Although I am notorious for saying the heck with it and just grabbing "Something in Brown/Red/Orange, whatever". Which is a natural reaction to rooting through a damn pile of resistors one too many times trying to find a specific value.
Your enclosure came out great! Can I encourage you to put it up on Thingiverse or one of the other sites? I had a Creality CR-10 until I gave it to a 13 YO kid. That'll teach him to not trust old folks... I have a Sovol 08 on the way, I'm pretty sure that it won't be a 29 hour print with that thing. It'll look nice next to the Qidi X-MAX3. :)

      Test fit FTW! :-D
I like the resistor packs with them all tagged. Those are nice.
About my enclosure, it is good from far but far from good. I would like to tweak it a bit. It is all very rushed in the details if you look closely. Like the little lips that the handles stick on aren't even the same length. I redid one handle with a deeper recess instead of taking the knife to it. :-D I should get one side perfect then just copy/flip it and set the correct middle distance to ensure symmetry. I should force myself to properly work with it to work smarter-not-harder. Oh that Sovol would be quick I bet! Mine is just an Anet A8Plus (original a8 here too)Thanks for watching/commenting.

    • @MrWaalkman
      @MrWaalkman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@JamiesHackShack That enclosure would make a good project for OpenSCAD, and then you would have it able to be modified parametrically (if that is even a word). Tweak it to your hearts' content.
Oh okay, I had the Tronxy Anet clone. It was hands down my most reliable printer. Mine was the baby brother to your Plus, something like 200mm on each side.
As for my old Creality, I had replaced that cursed toolhead that came with it with on from Micro Swiss, so he actually got himself a decent printer. But Core XY is the way to go. And the Sovol is cheap at $549.
And far more trouble with those machine pin sockets than they are worth, it'll be quality double-wipe ones from here on out.
