When it comes to boa’s there isn’t even a channel that is close to Jason. The energy, the excitement for the animals, his attitude about when he gets bit. You the man J!!!!!!
Thank you very much!
I have a BCI. Light in color, no spurs on her saddles. Totally sweet personality. I heard BCC's can be grumpy. If you want to make a lot of money breeding get BCC's. If you just want a good pet snake get a BCI. My friend has a pair of suranams. Beautiful colors on them but not too friendly. Maybe they're wild caught.
I got my bci last year he is approaching 2 years old, I recently just got a bcc she's a peruvian and straight away I noticed massive differences although my bci is bigger and longer than my bcc the bccs head is literally twice the size and shaped like an arrow her head is huge in comparison to my bci, the bcc literally feels different to me when I hold her it could be in my head but she feels smoother and her muscle mass is insane, the golden yellow colour of her body and her tail markings are just beautiful I feel so privileged to owned such a stunning animal, both my animals are beautiful but the bcc is something els
yeah, both are great, but I agree BCC's Are Gorgeous!
the best channel on TH-cam. Greetings from Poland!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!
My knowledge has just been refined because of how you presented this video! Thanks again and I wish you a Merry Christmas!
Thank you. Merry Christmas as well!
If you wanna check out some great locality BCC, Brian Boas is a great place. Jason has the morphs( very pretty morphs at that) but Brian has the BCCs. I have a Guyana but I want a few BCI morphs. My plan is a rack full of Boas and 1 huge display enclosure to rotate them through every couple weeks.
Always love seeing a vid from you pop on my feed, happy holidays!
Yes! I love when you do these videos of showing us multiple stages
Part of the issue is that decades ago breeders wanted the markings and colouration of a Bcc but smaller and more manageable size of the Bi, so started cross-breeding. But the result is that we now have nicely marked Bi that have the red tails, bat wing markings and head stamps associated with Bcc, but also the size of a Bcc. 30 years ago you were pushed to find a male Bi of 7', with most averaging 6'. Now these days mal Bi exceed 8', which is more akin to Columbian red tails (and I'm talking from experience, my male jungle pastel is 8' 7" measured !!).
Yup, gone are the days where you do do a scale count to really distinguish between the two !
Fantastic video with out lots of useless B.S go right to it with good visual examples. Well done.
Side by side it really easy to see the differences.
Thank you!!
Thank you Sir. As always, very informational. I hope to pick one up from you soon. Have a very blessed holiday!
Thank you. You as well!
Merry Christmas and welcome back
Pure wild boas look the best. The rich earth tones look amazing. I favor those colors over the washed out cilors or boas that are stripped.
EXACTLY 💯
Thank you for the knowledge Jason!
Awesome video, Very informative. Have a Merry Christmas again brother.
I’m getting a captive bred Suriname in the spring and I can’t wait 🥰
Well done Jason, another one amazing film
Thank you!
Thank you!
I really think that juvenile boa constrictors are one of the most beautiful snakes i know, i just love their pattern and size
Another great video Jason!! Thank you & Merry Christmas to you & your family!! Please keep up the great work!!
Thank you! You as well!
OK cool - seeing them together really helps - I never noticed how different the head shape actually is- the smooth arrow shape as opposed the the chunkier blockier feeling heads! Now I just need to remember which is which :-) Great stuff thanks!
Awesome video. Definitely an interesting theory linking BCL to the IMG morph. That Longicata is gorgeous though.
Thank you!
Merry Christmas!!😁 lots of love to you and the missus❤
Love your Peruvians !! Great Video , merry Christmas brother !!!
Thank's for Sharing. That do help to do the difference between the boas.
Merry Christmas! I love you and your snakes
Fantastic video, thanks. I have a couple of Peruvian Iquitos Bcc's that I'm hopping to bread in a couple of years. They certainly are beautiful snakes. Cheers !
The Common Boa, one day, after I try my hand at a few starter snakes, I will level up to a BCI or BCC.
What a difference seeing them on video makes. No doubt I have a Columbian red tail bci now, not that there was any before... Thanks for the awesome breakdown!
Beautiful. Excellent info. Baby Boas are so adorable!! They all act the same 🥰
I've had a decent idea on differences of characrteristics on BCI vs BCC but this video helped further enhance my knowledge! Thank you.
*I will poke fun at the 30 times you caught yourself saying bcc/bci and vice versa haha ;)
Haha thank you.
AWESOME video and very educative !!!!! Thank you so much for the explanation.
I have always appreciated the different lines and species of boas my favorite ones are the true redtails like the Surinam, Guyana and Peruvian I love the deep reds in the tail and all the Hugh's of pinks and purple you don't get with the other subspecies I wish I would have kept mine in 04 when my grandfather had the rat farm and the reptile business. From g&g rodent and reptile I say great job
Great video.. thanks Jason!
Thank you!
Does a bci and a bcc depend on size or just on where they originated from?
It’s where they originated but they are also genetically different subspecies of boa.
@@JasonsExoticReptiles alr cool
Great stuff man. Theres so much BS out there. Reptile people love to argue, ive never seen anything like it. Dead wrong people still argue their points. Coming from mma, this isnt new to me but the lengths these people go to is incredible.
Ok but can we just appreciate the fact that the snake is so calm and not aggressive. They have a compelling nature to them
There's something about bcis or bccs that I just find so enticing.. I've never seen any live and neither will I be able to have one myself.
But just watching videos of them gets me, they're so pretty, especially their heads and the kind of split coloured eyes right down the middle.
Also, I kind of imagine them being rather gentle, despite what they look like thinking about their possible adult sizes.
Boas sometimes remind me of my male cat.. O.O
I hope that you will be able to find one and get one as a pet soon! They make for amazing pets and companions.
Are we allowed to have those are in New York state
As far as I’m aware you are, but always best to check with your local fish and wildlife as the laws are always changing.
Very informative thank you I learned a ton.
Thank you!
I have 37 of them mixed no sure exactly which is which thats why imc hecking this video out, i have caught them in the wild here in puerto rico😂❤
I have always wanted a boa (im not TOO concerned with BCI vs BCC) but I do want to know what i am actually getting. On my way right now to pick up a baby so I'm gonna use this as reference. I'm so happy right now. Legit my dream snake for the last 6 years lol
How’s it going with the snake?
@Conradmlarsen he's doing awesome! He is a normal BCI. Gonna have it sex'd next month at the vet (just a check up. I take all my animals around every 6 months) he was so cranky when I first got him! Haha it's my first baby snake so getting to work with him and seeing him calm down and trust me is such an awesome experience.
@@christophercarlin6782 any advice for making BCIs calmer? I'm getting a BCI later this month and want some tips :) thank u
Jason excellent video brother. I have the same feeling about the IMG and the BCL. It's what makes the most sense that people bred BCL to something else to make the IMG and they just are hiding that. How else did we get imgs? Lol anyways great content!!
Lol! IMGs get even darker though I think. That said I keep considering a BCL but think I wanna get some dwarfs first. IMGs also seem to be like an actual single gene based on the way they pass down. I agree they look similar sometimds tho haha
Img is a common morphology amongst reptiles. Ur same argument could ne said about any morph, how could we have albinos and so on. Its a rare genetic mutation, it happens. Were just lucky to get the morphs from the wild when we do. You see pete khal’s original IMG he bought from colombia. If not u need see it, and he explains in a video where he got the morph
@@420bandit hmm interesting, where can I find the pete kahl video? The IMGs look so similar ho BCLs it's almost identical lol
I want a boa but a smaller one like a dwarf boa lol is there a difference in size bci vs bcc
We have a Suriname Red Tail and she has quite a lot of a salmon color to her, she’s absolutely lovely and pushing 9ft at the moment
My first ever snake is almost a twin for the first snake on this vid.
Love all boas, all of them have their pluses and minuses. Hog islands and Argentinas are a good fave. As are Dumerils.
But I’m more than happy with my dude
Awesome video man thank you
Great video.. Very clear and informative. Background color is a good way to tell, particularly as babies. BCC/BCA often have a silver or goldish background, and BCI often have more tan or darker gray.
Speaking of morphs, to me.. I truly believe vpi have BCA or BCC (saddles do not look BCI at all), and Arabesque has BCL (head stamp, color, saddles). What are your thoughts?
Out these 5 boas size and girth rate top to bottom 1 being the largest. Nicaragua boas , hog island boas, pearl island boas, emerald basin's boas, Brazilian rainbow boa? I know there all arboreal. Can any of these breeds mix?
I'm new to the reptile keeping so I'm really struggling to understand what's being explained here but I managed to understand most of it the one I don't understand is what's the thing about HET what is this?
One day you will rewatch this video and it will all make senses haha.
Het is short heterozygous. It’s the incomplete form of a recessive trait and therefore, not visual. Like is said, one day this will all make sense when you need to know it.
That bcl was the most beautiful snake on show in my own humble opinion. 💯
Awesome video it helped me see the difference awesome snakes Jason
My Suriname is captive born from wild caught parents and he was 300. I definitely tend to over stress myself on his care, even though he should do better than a wild caught individual.
Saddle count is also another factor I have heard. Is this also a viable (usually correct) mothod? Obviously there are anomalies with everything.
It can be. Just like the head markings and red tail, it can vary.
Congratulations on the Peruvian litter and happy holidays
Thank you bro!
hi man i have a boa but dont know witch one i have can you help can i sen a pic of mine im from Aruba
I've seen some Abberant/Jungle-like BCCs too. Plus theres the locality specific morphs like Nic Albino, Sonoran (Pure) Leopards/Hypo, etc. Albino Argentines too! Boas get complicated when you start wanting pure locality specific stuff, morphs or not - ask me how I know lol. And yeah there's Colombians that have damn red Tails too. Great vid man!
Would you recommend a Central American boa for a beginner?
Absolutely.
Why does bci and bcc matter and is there a size difference?
Idk what mine is it's a light color baby very red tail from petsmart I paid 300 and something for
It really does make a big different but they are different subspecies. It’s like a carpet python vs a diamond python. Other than looks, they are very similar. Yours is most likely a BCI.
@@JasonsExoticReptiles ok bro thank you very much
I got my BCC from petco but I was an employee and special ordered it
Woah, did not know red square morph is from a bcc, that’s crazy because I bought a red square thinking the guy was bullshitting me and just trying to sell a Bci as a true red tail since it was my first snake
Thanks! I awlasy just thought the bci and bcc were always just interchangeable haha
I love ur website but why only local pickup on coco fiber
The cost of shipping is too expensive for me to compete with just buying direct from freedom breeder.
How should i detect baby normal red tail boa from baby columbia red tile boa???
Please help me
Just need to understand what they look like. My biggest recommendation is to buy from a reputable breeder. Otherwise, there is always a chance that it’s labeled incorrectly or a cross.
It’s kind of like if you were to take all the branding off a car. How do you tell the difference between car brands and models. Just need to understand what they look like and how to differentiate
another great video! I love my bci :-)
Just got a bcc, and no one believes me until they see it in person I just can’t find the locality:(
Why didn't they bite you at around 10:00? My bci gets snappy when touched on the head, no matter how hard I'm trying to tame her down
Is there a way to tell the difference when the boa is Albino?
If it’s a morph it’s a BCI
I have a Guyana BCC I got a year ago and he's been my favorite snake to work with. I have read about exporters and breeders alike who suggest Guyana and Suriname are just marketing terms because they are found in the same range separated by political borders. They even suggest that both snakes produce litters that look exactly the same. I'd like to hear more about this topic, is there a real difference at all?
Hey Jason! Can you do a video on scale/body damage to boas and what you can/can't do to help with this?
I just adopted a 3 year old Hypo-Albino Sunglow Boa Female, she seems to have quite a bit of scale indentation and scarring.
What are some BCI localities ?
What typically get biggest Peruvians, Guyana or Columbian, Suriname?
Turns out I don’t have a BCC, I have a BCI. I was mislead but I got a great deal (2 for 200$) and I’m super happy with the snakes.
Very common for people to call things boa constrictor or red tail boa and they are not
Love the BCI Heads, But The BCC Body Patterns & That Red Tail
Love BCLs. Have/do you currently work with any Bolivian Short Tails/Amarali? A couple EU lines with the patternless dorsal have popped up, really interesting looking boa.
I used to but not anymore
Happy Holidays Jason. Do you have Big Snakes 🐍 There
I went to local store that ordered my supposed BCC she's about doubled since I brought her home last month so she very well may be
Yeah it's just a healthy BCI the local store is shady
Last 2 🐍 s look amazing
My beginner ass got very good at telling the difference right away simply because I wanted a BCI (since everyone said it's better for beginners) but kept almost getting a BCC. Apparently everything I think looks cool on a boa- deep colors, cool head shape, major contrast- is friggin a distincting BCC trait.
look for specific morphs in BCI such as IMG they tend to get darker and deeperin color, if you look around you'll find a specific morph you really like
I have a four year old female BCI but I have no idea of what her locality or morph could be. I’m fairly certain she was captive bred but I don’t really know her background. Anybody know examples of what to look for to try to diagnose morphs on snakes without known lineage history?
What do you think about Brazilian bcc?
I like them and have some!
@@JasonsExoticReptiles here in Brazil they are the most common snake pet. Please consider do one video with your Brazilian BCCs. Thanks!
I have a couple of BCI that just breed for the first time June 11 2021. I've been told that they may have some different genetics in them other than a common bci which is what I thought they were. Is there a good place to have this checked or do you do that for people. I love mine and I'm just curious more than anything else.
MorphMarket is a great place to be able to see a bunch of different genetics and examples of combos to compare yours to
Great vid bro boas are the best 👍
A good example is comparing a retic and super dwarf retics they have both a different shape head and body shape. Both are located in different areas huge retics are from Asia. Then super dwarfs retics localities are only found in the small islands located in Kalatoa, Jampea, Selayer, Madu, Karompa, Kayuadia, and Tombolongan.
Do you have the peruvian boa for sale? The ones on this video???
I believe you may just have solved a riddle I've been try to solve regarding my supposed Nic. It would appear he is a hypo Nicaraguan het BC. Someone trying to get a true Red Tail dwarf perhaps?Cheers.
Great way of breaking things down. Gained my follow🫡
Thank you !
That snake looks terrified 😂 I have a bci my dad bought it 3 yrs ago she is ginormous
I have a female Nicaraguan Tpos and a male Nicaraguan. I feel that I can now provide the proper husbandry for a BCC and when the warm whether makes shipping safe again, I plan to buy my first one. The hatchlings are adorable and I love the way the adults look.
How can I buy a boa constrictor from you
Everything available is on the website. Www.jasonsexoticreptiles.com
Can BCI have a speckled belly
I have a baby bci she is a jungle Hypo. She is very orange and salmon colored
I got a male boa thats about 2 years old yesterday for $250 an hes super dark but also going into shed
Bcc I mean bci what is it
There are sooooooo many mix breed and people can't tell the difference.
Crazy part, Surinams Peruvians were MUCH cheaper (I bought my Surinam from Gus for 3 something) until maybe 7 or 8 years ago
Do you want to trade a baby CBB white throat monitor for a boa
I got one for my gator on trade had an american alligator traded for red tail boa
Every example I see has me more convinced I have a hybrid bci bcc of some kind. They’re from petco so bci but their pattern is extremely clean and they have a speckled belly, plus they’re more greyish than brown and their head shape is more like a bcc’s. I am currently hoping that my bean whatever he ends up being either bci or hybridized with bcc stays more on the bci size range lol. I love them tho and chose them for their personality over what they are.
I would guess if it came from petco it is BCi. They rarely have bcc and it’s very unlikely to be a cross. Remember these are general guides and I can’t show everything.
@@JasonsExoticReptiles true. tbh tho again i chose him cause his personality so its more just a for funsies thing for me to figure him out. i work at the petco i got him from and fell in love with how hed greet me each day when i went in to care for him and his sibling. the other reason to figure out if hes full bci tho is size, bit easier to care for a bci at 6-8 ft vs a bcc at 10-12 lol. im only 5ft as it is XD
Man you have some incredible snakes, I would love to have a super clean 2nd generation BCL, the one at the end of this video cannot be improved upon in my opinion.
I have a two bci and two bcc: vpi t+, normal, and Guyana pair.. They are all beautiful animals and I don't get this stigma that comes with a normal bci, like they are somehow less worthy of praise than a bcc.
100%. People will rave about a BCC but crap on a normal BCI. Then they struggle to tell the difference lol
My normal bci Ebony also seems to have more of an outgoing personality than Jack and Sally (Guyana). And she doesn't squeeze super tight like they do, so I'm more comfortable handing her off to my children than them as well. The only time I've ever had a regurgitation was with a bcc as well.. There are so many pros to common boas.
