I love the close ups where you want to show us your snakes. You have so much obvious respect for these animals but I can tell you're proud of them too. I know that if they didn't make you happy, you wouldn't have them, but I'm glad we get to see that connection from you. Thanks Jason for another awesome video!
Thank you! I'm going to do another video kind of geared on what interested me in snakes.
Was waiting for this!!!! Just got a 7 month old BI, this is great info.
Thank you!!
I just got a BI last week. We’ve had pythons, etc but this is my first boa.
@@carrieanneatreides6240 any updates? Lol
@@shake4259 they all died
@@saintedcat3140 how do you know that?
I love the smile you give when you show a close up of a snake you're super proud of 😁
Thank you ! :)
Tho I just recently subbed, I always liked how much respect you bring to the hobby! Just having a healthy content animal instead of bragging how big and heavy they are for instance, good on ya bud...
Thank you!
Oliver Stein what’s wrong with being proud of the size
Zuma Dude making a huge fat snake in 1/2 year is not an accomplishment.
@@therealshino4607 sry didn't see your answer til now! If you look at boids in the wild they usually are way leaner than in captivity usually bc of overfeeding, too small enclosures n lil to no enrichment. Breeders have to make cuts here keepers don't. An overfed animal will most likely die way earlier...
-Natasha - oh true
I am taking in a BI from a friend who can't care for him anymore this week, so this was helpful to see! He is close to two years old, so he still has a bit of growing to do.
"They dont live in these bins" well thats a relief 😅
Easy Kimpin
Yet he has 100 bins behind him with other snakes living in them lmao
Krak3n Jr if he breeds and sells them, that’s kinda how it’s done. I doubt they stay there forever
@@littlevillagepythons9636 they are babies
Yeah they do don’t lie
@@gwkgb8474 no it’s actually true a lot of people don’t really check the temperature
Wish there were more videos around like this when I first was getting into boas, years ago. They do vary in size even as adults, but this video provides an excellent representation of what to expect on average. Thank you for another great video on boas, and keep the boa morph eye candy coming! 🥰
Thank you!!
Bro, you’ve inspired me to start collecting! As a kid I was obsessed with snakes. So much to the point that I’d ride my bike up to Petco almost everyday to hold the snakes and help feed em. The employees were super chill about me constantly bugging em so that made it nice. I recently got a Ball Python and now I’m getting a BCI Boa-you’ve convinced me, I know I can handle that size eventually as I see now that the growth rate can be slow! Great informative videos-glad you didn’t get tagged up like that other time haha!
Haha thanks man. Glad you like them! I used to do the same thing at a petstore near me so I 100% relate to that one.
Thanks for a giving good visual idea of the sizes! I have a 1.5 year old female boa I ordered arriving this week and am really excited to see how she grows over the years. She's just a pet since I don't breed or anything but the handful of snakes I currently have are all smaller species so a snake with some size will be really cool.
thank you for taking away my apprehension about the size, im getting a imperator baby (born in june) mid december. now i know i have about 3 years to build his final enclosure.
Great way to start my weekend thanks jason keep them coming
Thanks man! I'm trying to get atleast one a week on saturday mornings. I might add another on Tuesdays, but want to make sure I get atleast the Saturday morning videos up.
I have a male hypo boa imperator, and this video made me feel alot more comfortable about buying him. I really like the snake, and have been afraid of his adult length. So by seeing the adult male you had showed they can be very manageable. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
What ya Instagram
It's really interesting to hear you talk about the different snakes. My grandma was a sheep breeder and I've had some sheep as a hobby and also a small breeding project, and you talk about your animals in a way that reminds me of many breeders I've met. In particular, it reminds me of my grandma, because even though at one point she had almost 100 sheep and was regularly breeding them and had them as a business, she was really passionate about them as a project and cared for all of them as individual animals. She had to sell most of her sheep because she was getting older and her flock was a larger breed that she couldn't manage as well as she used to, but she still has her smaller, much more manageable goats and a couple favorite sheep.
This video is perfect. I have a 6 month old bci and my wife is terrified of it growing up.
I predict it might get to a little over 8 ft. long and around 30 lbs., but they aren't giant snakes like Burmese pythons. They're just large snakes.
@@Darhan62 I agree completely. She just has a hard time visualizing what that means and somehow always imagines something from the movie anaconda.
This was one of your better videos, keep it up great job.
Thanks man!
Brilliant. It's good to show how long they take before they are basically full grown . I always thought about 5 years for most species but it's not always the case ,it can take even longer than that
Excellent video! Incredibly timely, too, I just got a Guyana Boa Constrictor, or a true red tail, he's absolutely beautiful. I think he's less than a year old, and adult male boa size seems just perfect for me.
Omfg finally! Thank you! Nobody has good educational videos for boas on here except a select few!
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed this video and it was fun watching you working with the big male and female trying to educate us on size. Great video buddy
Thank you!
@@JasonsExoticReptiles your welcome my friend and I enjoyed talking with you on Instagram as well
So excited by this video! Been looking for this kind of information for awhile so I can judge my 6 month old boas growth
Hah finally got to it
Love your honesty about weights n sizes bro. Great upload and beautiful snakes 🤘
Thank you!
Thanks man this was a very informative video. I'm still amateur to snake keeping and as of now I have a two year old gray banded king snake, but wanted to get a boa in the near future. Your video has been very helpful with future planning for a new addition to the family. Also found your channel through the hypo motley boa vid you did. Good stuff man!
Very useful, thank you! We’ve had our BCI for about 8 months and she’s approaching her first birthday! Looking forward to continuing watching her grow.
Congrats and watching them grow is the best part for sure.
I am so glad I found your channel. I just got into boas and have 6 babies. I look forward to watching your videos after work at night. You have the most amazing info and have made me more confident in owning my boas. I've even been able to work with and hold my most defensive girl. She's really such a sweetheart but was so scared and defensive when I brought her home.
Thank you!
Great video!!...Really looking forward to the localities one
Not to schooled on boas so this video was very helpful, especially in the size variances from Male to female, young to adult This helps me make more of a conscious decision on if I will purchase one or not, thanks!!
One of the Best Reptile Channels out there! For Real 100% thanks so much for all the great information on Such Pertinent Topic Information.
Watching "The End Of The Reptile Industry" next. Even when i don't have time, I send these in a message to myself to watch later!
Never any BS coming from Jason.
Thank you so much!
This was super helpful to this new boa owner
Thanks so much. Excellent comparisons and comments!
Thanks Jason for an awesome video. I am preparing for my first boa and I've been looking for a video like this.
That's awesome to hear. I'm primarily focused on boas so hopefully I have other videos and make more in the future to help you out.
Great! Good to see how big a male can get, as I'm planning on getting one. Thanks for posting!
Great video! I feed a prey that juuuust leaves a lump and feed every two weeks. But I believe in slow growing my snakes only because I am not a breeder. Brilliant looking boas!!! The bigger they get the more beautiful they get.
Thank you!
Taevian's World of Reptiles! Z
Thanks, I just got ordered a my first boa constrictor.😊
Hell yeah! Good luck with him!
Your videos have really been helping me allot, thank you. And your snakes are beautiful!!
Beautiful Boas! I'm going to be getting my first one in a couple of weeks. Had pythons, corns and kings before so I'm excited about my first central american
My BCI was 8 ft. 4.5 in. long when she passed away at the age of almost 35 years, but I don't think she really grew much in the last several years of her life. I couldn't measure her length exactly when she was alive, because she would never quite sit still or straighten out enough. She wasn't very bulky, as I never fed her all that much. Mainly I just fed her large or jumbo rats at a maintenance frequency. At her maximum weight I think she was about 28 lbs.
Did she ever try to attack you or any visitors at any point in her lifetime?
@@obinnaobiekwe4726 She bit me maybe three or four times, but it was always a feeding bite, not a defensive bite (i.e., she mistook my hand for a rat, or aimed too high while I was dropping the rat in, which is why some people use feeding tongs). I think there was once when she was small that she got agitated because there were a lot of people around and she made a bluff strike, but she never actually bit anyone apart from the feeding bites I mentioned.
Wow you must have given her a really good life to live that long
@@IntoTheMystery13 I kept her fed and watered, but didn't overfeed her. Tried to maintain a decent temperature and humidity, and held her occasionally, or let her crawl around in the backyard. I was always gentle with her, even when she bit me. There were times when I took her for granted that will always be a regret, but overall, love and gratitude are the two main emotions I have for her. I'm glad she was with me for that long. She lived ~34 years and 10 months, give or a take a month or so. For over 34 years of that she was in my care, except that my dad took care of her while I was away at college.
She wasn't growing because she was too big to eat just rats . If you fed rabbits she would have been prolly 12 ft .
Man, thank you so much. This video will always be useful! It may have been made 3 years ago but it’s helping me out so much!
I was thinking about getting a boa, so I'm really glad u post that much stuff about them. I am still not sure if I want a BCI or BCC.
Either way, Thank you!
Michelle Maier i have a bci but if I were you I would get a BCC they are beautiful even without a morph their tail is super vibrant
@@Bowser_PlayzWZ I thought I should go with BCC, though I still need to do a bit more research generally before I'll decide
If you aren’t that experienced you should get a bci they are a little shorter and cost a little less
Michelle yeah what did you get?
Great video, Jason. Keep ‘em coming bro.
Fantastic size comparisons, it helped me solidify my decision on getting a female. What can I say, I love the look, size, and girth of them.
Thank you!
This is amazing. I wish every species had videos like this.
thanks for this video :D i've had a ball python for about 2 years now and i'm looking into getting a bci so this video was very helpful
Jason Thank You so much for ur videos an sharing this video . I've raised my boas off ur videos an I thank you so much for all the boa videos.

Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Great video Jason thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏
Thank you!
Wow thanks for doing this video I’ve been looking at getting a Nichog boa and u showing sizes really helps me finalize my decision to get one thanks. Your snakes are beautiful by the way.
Thank you
My male redtail was about exactly the size of that last snake, he was thick and strong and went 25-30 pounds. I fed him as he got 4-5 feet, three rats at a time as big as I could find- he would eat once a month, as he got bigger sometimes I would feed him rabbits but mostly the 3 rats were his normal meal all the way to 7 feet long... he was beautiful, just a glossy mahogany brown fading into more red towards the tail area...
This is exactly what I’ve been wanting to find out!
That's awesome to hear!
Thanks for another good one, I found your channel a few months back and going back through them. A lot of good info
Thank you!
great vid, cant wait to see the future one on localities!
Thank you
I really love ur content, I watched every video since I subscribe. Pls never stop doing education vib about boas, it seems like your the only one on TH-cam that’s knows what ur talking about.
You should do “which one is better plastic tub or glass tank” video
Thank you!
thank you for this!! so helpful to see these side by side comparisons for boas like this :)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this it really helped me out ❤
my FAV boa channel
Thank you!!
The video we were all waiting for.
It was cool to see a male hypo full grown. I too own a male hypo with het albino. I agree with you in that size and growth are not as important as just enjoying them at every moment. Its not cool to pass up on the journey and ignore the ride just to only care about the destination. Stay up my brother.
Thanks man!
Great job, Jason, I really enjoy your videos, staight forward, absolutely no BS and really informative. I appreciate it bro.
Thanks man!!
Appreciate the hard work, keep up the content, very cool dude,i have done buisness with this guy,man of his word,NOT full of hype, like most!!!!!!!! Respect jason, take care, love wat u do

Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! It was exactly what I was looking for!
Awesome to hear it helped!
Thanks for making this...subbed
Thanks for watching in subbing!
i just found your channel, keep doing what you are doing. Please, the info and the range of snakes you have, answering questions i had from years of snake keeping. I have only had one boa before and was wondering how and how fast they can/do grow depending on food. AWESOME stuff man
Thank you!!
I think you're spot on when talking about feeder size being as important to end size as schedule. I think growth/body condition is more about total food consumed than how you deliver that food. I think a lot of the reason females get bigger is because they have a little more genetic size potential, they grow faster, get moved up in prey size faster, and get more total food in the first few years.
I cover much of this in my feeding video
1:46 Happy baby so happy him struck out to bite. Being a baby probably got spooked or felt warmth and movement looking for food. Didn't bite handler so no worries.
As always another great video....
Thank you
Please do this for bcc, great video!
Great video as allways.
Thank you
Awesome snakes one of your other videos helped me confirm I had a BCC at the shop I got it they had it labeled as a Guyana red tail
I am watching this helpful video in 2021 thanks....
Loving the Boa stuff
When you start arguing with people in the comments over bins before you get to the part of the video where it becomes clear they were all joking...
Haha atleast we hope they were joking.
Thanks for the video I've got a 6 week old BCi he has doubled in size in the month I've had him
There are some male boas out there that just throw the concept of their average size out the damn window. Emily over at Snake Discovery has a male BCI that is almost 8 feet long.
They absolutely can. I have a few males that are pushing 8-9 ft. They are not the average though. Kind of like a 6.5-7 ft human. Above average
*Everybody loves Doug*
Thank you. LOVE seeing where my guys (2) pet young boas will be as Adults.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Great video man, good info. You already said you're going to do a video or videos on explaining the differences in localities so I have nothing better to suggest. Though, I'm definitely looking forward to that since finding that information isnt all that easy for the less popularized localities.
Awesome vid, love the channel.
Thank you!
Holy moley your 3 yr old male is like twice the size as mine! I just got mine from my local reptile show last weekend, so he may have been slow grown so he can fit in the display case for longer. But he turns 3 end of next month and is a little smaller than your 1 yr old female you showed.
Appreciate the video! Always enjoy them, highly informative.
Love your boa breeding videos, there aren't a ton out there and yours are very informative
Thank you!
Thank you ! Love your vlogs. Happy Thanksgiving !
Thank you! You too!
Really useful thank you.
this is insanely helpful!!!
Hi Jason, this was a great video, and thank you for filming this. I needed to see some sizes to compare to my Hog Island boa cross Female, who was sold to me as a 2017, but I do not think she has the size of a snake that old. So, thank you again for this video.
Great video.. Keep them coming!
Thank you!!
Fantastic topic brotha
Thanks man!
So helpful. Thank you!
Thank you!
Video looks much better. Perfect lighting.
Question? How do you feel for follicles? How can I know what I’m feeling?
A lot of it is just experience and knowing what you are feeling for but I did make a video on that about a year ago. I believe the title is how to palpate. Take a look through some of the old videos in you should stumble across it. Hopefully that helps, but it really is difficult to show in a video. It's one of those things that once you feel them you know what they are and you know what to feel for.
Jason's Exotic Reptiles that video must have slipped my mind. I’ve watched every one of your videos. I’ll take a look. Thank you.
I finally got my first boa just a normal Colombian male, he’s still so small so it’s nice to see a general reference how he’ll grow the next few years. Is it normal that he just curls around my hand and hardly moves? Lol he’s very inquisitive constantly looking around and flicking his tongue, just doesn’t move much
awesome video, Thanks!
Good stuff man! I have a 2 yr old BCI. She is prolly around 5 ft!
Thank you man. I want a boa.
amazing info thank you
