I think that Gaunter O'Dimm doesn't just take what he wants by force is because he enjoys the game. He plays by rules because it's the only way he can lose and without the risk of losing where's the fun in anything?
@@HomerAndRoe Well, it's heavily implied that Gaunter O'Dimm is either Satan or some kind of really powerful demonic figure, and demons take sadistic pleasure in causing suffering to humans because it is against their nature not to be. Gaunter, much like Satan, isn't very overt with his power and rather is a figure of temptation who gives people power because they want to play God, this always of course comes at enormous expense of the fool who agrees to their deals.
@@WiseOwl_1408 Lovecraft monsters don't even care about humans or human souls, (except Nyarlathotep) because they are too high above them to even notice. Satan on the other hand, loves that shit.
IIRC Devils are bound to contracts to harvest souls. They need to play by the rules or they are themself sent to a hell even fiends fear. Also Devils and creatures from the Abyss feeds on the suffering on others and it's obviously shown through the DLC.
@David -01 if you look at the bar, everyone Odimm is killing is happy people, mostly because they made a contract with him, if you look properly he could've kill more boring people or people from the scenario, but he just choose to kill certain people on the bar. He isn't that powerful, all he use is magic, when you see him flying you can see that he put "block air" under his foot, that means he can't literally fly, but place magic objects under his feet to simulate fly, which means he is just a magic creature, nothing exceptional. A easy battle is just teleport him to an place that there's no magic, like ciri did. Ciri is actually more powerful than people think, I think she can even win against odimm as her time control is waaay more powerful
When he says it’s out of his reach I assume it implies that he cannot access other worlds like ciri. Since it is implied that the isle of mist isn’t on the same plane of existence, he cannot access it.
Moreover, Regis said the elder stayed in the cave every day in the hope to get a smell or leaked illusion of his homeworld from the gate. That's... like me watching food porn on youtube every day.
I think by far the coolest power of O'Dimm is knowing when someone is studying or thinking about him. The professor just started doing basic research on O'Dimm - somehow O'Dimm became alerted to that. It shows he may have some level of omniscience.
That is very true. This game was very well made even after 5 years its great to play it all over. Odimm does that because he likes to trick people, yet he follow the rules of his own games, just that he doesnt want you to know how to beat him.
How exactly could you prove that? Maybe the name is cursed with a tabu like the Banshee in the theatre in Blood and Wine? Maybe the name itself is a spell of sorts that requires only strong will and no training like the curses caused by evil deeds? Maybe the books that contain the name have been cursed to inform him who's reading them? There are many possibilities
Well, in the Witcher a lot of creatures brought into the human world by the conjunction were the source of many beliefs and legends, or they were interpreted as the manifestation of those legends. E.g., drowners were thought to be reanimated corpses of those drowned at sea, but in reality they're an entirely different creature. There's also multiple instances of creatures being worshipped as deities, like the lady of the lake (who is actually just an ancient nymph). The scholar at Oxenfurt explains that O'Dimm has been interpreted by many cultures, over thousands of years, and in all prior cultures he's seen as something along the lines of "evil incarnate". He also always makes deals at crossroads, and always takes the souls of those he makes pacts with (excluding Geralt and one other unknown person). It's pretty clear that, regardless of wherever he truly came from, in the human world he's the basis for the capital-D Devil. As to what he actually is? Well, he's certainly one-of-a-kind. He explicitly told Geralt that he's neither a demon nor a djinn. His control over time is something never-before-seen in the Witcher (books or otherwise). As you pointed out, he has also has some kind of omniscience. So he's special, and he's on a level far above any other entity described in the Witcher, but not much else is clear.
Into the thoughts of human beings. We don't know if he has the same ability with other forms of life. Vampires are entirely different species. And I assume, having lived since ancient times, they'd be familiar with both ancient and modern magic, and would have countermeasures in place at their "homes" given that they wouldn't want to leave themselves vulnerable to some human being wishing for one of their deaths.
O'Dimms "playful" nature suggests limitlessness as he's seemingly making his own rules to play by for no other reason than to not bore himself to death.
Indeed. Gaunter reminds me of an evil version of Mr. Mxyzptlk. If you're not familiar, he's a Superman "villain" from another dimension that's basically omnipotent. He can rewrite the laws of physics or reality as he pleases, create or destroy anything, he's basically God. He shows up, does some pranks, and generally makes a pest of himself. Supes can only beat him by tricking him into saying his name backwards (hard to even say it forwards...) which banishes him for a decent period of time. But he's also revealed the name backwards thing is just another game to him, and he doesn't have to honor it. He does because it's fun for him. Gaunter reminds me of the same sort of thing, except instead of looking to just amuse himself, he seems disgusted with the rotten bastards of the Witcher world (and really, aren't you?) and likes to punish them.
@@Veladus I got the same impression. Gaunter only loses because he chooses to lose. He loves his games and isn't too sore about meeting a worthy player.
Not strictly true. Loki isn't the devil, but behaves very similarly to gaunter. In fact I'd argue that applying our concepts of "good" and "evil" to higher powers is entirely subjective. Most pantheonic religions and mythologies don't have "good" gods and "bad" devils. You tend to only find this concept in the monotheistic religions that came after them. Given the the Witcher universe draws very heavily from pre-christian pantheonic mythologies, I think it more likely that there are simply gods, of which gaunter is one. Which begs the question, are there more powerful deities than gaunter? Most likely. Are they "good?" well, no. Not really, in the same way Zeus or Odin weren't "good."
I find the Unseen Elder a very good concept because of that, not all of us, but some of us do have conditions where it actually pains us (physically even! In some cases) to speak with other people, and if you have this condition you just won't be able to want to kill him because of how much you relate to his condition
More than anything O'Dimm strikes me as... bored. He plays games, treats everyone as his own toys. He's also unnecessarily theatrical, he could be much more efficient in his soul- harvesting, but he seems to genuinly enjoy playing with his victims. It's a bit like a well-fed housecat playing with a mouse before eventually killing it. Unseen elder or a peasant, I don't personally see it making much of a difference. I love the fact that they didn't include all the details, the "mystery" is what makes O'Dimm my absolute favorite character. The lack of specific information is what makes our humble merchant of mirrors so god damn interesting.
@Ivan Exell Eredin is your typical evil warlord; ambitious and ruthless. Gaunter is, by nature, a far more interesting character. We've seen him killed a man with a spoon and threatened to take Vlodimir with him - which proves that he never needed a contract to kill someone or take their soul. This, combined with the fact that he actually gave Geralt a chance to win their game, showed us that he's doing what he did for fun.
@Ivan Exell eredin is not that mysterious he is just an aen elle who leads the wild hunt, killed his king and wants ciris blood/power to control the worlds
I agree he's sort of like Q from Star Trek the Next Generation. He can do anything change reality distort time and space and alter any Dimension as he sees fit but instead chooses to play games. Like God playing chess with his very creations or choosing Mortals to act in a play created by the Gods. It is an opera
Wow got goosebumps when I re-watched that moment. Gaunter O'Dimm is the best character I've ever seen in any game/movie/TV show and the Hearts of Stone expansion the best story in any game I've experienced
BMnine the clap is just something O’dimm made up. I doubt gauntlet is even a physical being. I wonder why this is even a debate. They’re not even on the same spectrum of power levels
@@bmnine264 It was him being dramatic. He can do pretty much whatever he wants, he just hates boredom so he has a whole bunch of rules to have some type of "risk" to it.
This seems pretty silly. A being with godlike power and the ability to stop time against what's essentially just a super vampire. It's not gonna be much of a match.
@Wim Rougoor ITs not unthinkable that Gaunter o'Dimm could just pull that off, yet he wouldnt EVER dó that... simply because he relishes in the chaos and desperation in the world. The fear caused by this chaos allows him to manipulate people into his most twisted games...
@@thegreenreaper6660 No you are wrong o`Dimm doesnt cause fear or anything he looks like perfectly average Joe. He just uses his magic to play with interesting people and the game is to outsmart them. He succeeds most of the time but sometimes fails and it angers him because hes banished for it. So the rules of the game are he can pretty much do whatever he wants to make people choose their destiny but if he fails he gotta go so it eventualy got boring using plain old fear and bully so deceits and jokes toying with people makes the fun in it even more so when theres prospect of him failing to "win", tho he always wins because what human consider wining is another thursday for him.
Roach is still the real winner. A horse as skilled as Geralt when it comes to climbing houses, much better than sorcerers at teleporting (well she never got cut in half, did she?) and even has witcher knowledge.
O dimm walking in. Gets stabbed by the Unseen and then casually begins to explain the clauses of his contract. The Elder slashes a few more times, O dimm gets pissed, claps twice and gives the Unseen the spoon. Neither die and have a in depth conversation about life.
O’Dimm is referred to as “evil incarnate”. He can literally bring suffering to a ghost and if Geralt fails to solve his riddle, O’Dimm will just appear behind him and turn him into dust. I think he could easily tear the elder apart if he wanted to.
Yeah. Like, he causes a ghost-an incorporeal, non-physical being-to writhe and scream in agony, seemingly with no effort, significant motion or real 'trick' to it. He just.... *willed* him to suffer, and he did. What in the HELL is the Unseen Elder gonna do? Even if we assume the UE moves fast enough to stab/slash at O'Dimm's body-which he doesn't, because O'Dimm can control the flow of time-we have absolutely 0 reason to believe this would even BEGIN the process of harming O'Dimm. The scholar says G.O'D has records of encounters going back *thousands* of years. That strongly indicates he's a Pre-Conjunction entity, which is terrifying in its own right. At bare minimum, he's able to teleport, stop time, walk on air/manipulate gravity, and control the weather at will, and this isn't even accounting for his ability to grant wishes or inflict curses, seemingly of limitless complexity and flexibility, at will. This isn't even a question of "Who would win", it's a question of "How long would O'Dimm torment the Elder before he gets bored?" Try to tell me O'Dimm wouldn't *DELIGHT* in making something that thinks itself virtually invincible feel completely helpless.
@@plgrn8r683 however even o'dimm has to follow some rules for example, once geralt solved his riddle its almost like he was pulled away from him by some higher force i doubt o'dimm would mess with an unseen elder and vice-versa. we have no idea how powerful and knowledgeable they actually are

Actually, they both have time stopping abilities. Remember the scene where the ancient one is moving all over the walls and like teleporting? Well that's not teleporting at all. He's stopping time and moving to that area in a graceful manner, because higher vampires are more intelligent and has a fine taste for grace.

Sadly, I don't think it's possible to defeat Gaunter O Dim on a physical level. You have to beat him in his own game; he will respect the rules and leave you alone. But, If he actually wants to kill Geralt or any other character by every means necessary, he can simply use his infinite Za Warudo, and the confrontation is pretty much over
I watched this video (again) and I’m in the Hearts of Stone expansion on my current play through. And I just noticed something. While wandering around Oxenfurt after Dead Man’s Party, some random citizens are saying random things as usual. But then something piqued my interest, a random Redanian near Wiley’s (former) hideout said “that mark! Mark of the devil!” I’ve never heard anyone say that around Geralt before. Only thing close to that I’ve heard is “that’s the mark of a dangerous guild you wear” in reference to Geralt’s medallion.
Im pretty shure i also heard this comment like you did... And in my mind Gaunter ODimm is the Devil. Nearly all of Gaunter reminds me of Mephistopheles from Goethes Faust. Its like they adapted Mephisto into the Witcher universe.
Another thing about O’dimm: after you got the bad ending in main quest and play HOS, you would have a conversation with O’dimm, talking about children(he would ask if you have a child or not), and if you choose to say “I had a daughter but died”, he will tell you Ciri is not dead, she just don’t want to see you anymore
i guess GoD would have the upperhand with ease, noone kinda knows how old he is, we dont know if he can travel time, he migh seen many shit and with that comes wisdom in a kind of form
It depends on what question it is, but in cases like "what is love" Gaunter could probably use his (near) omnipotence and ability to manipulate time just for the sake of surveying the most common pattern, then condensing that into an answer.
What if while playing both DLC's we get in the unseen elder cave and start the cut scene where the unseen cut Geralt's throat but suddenly gets stopped by O'dimm cuz he still need Geralt's help to deal with Olgierd, that would be mind blowing.

I think I finally realise why Gunter O'Dimm has a thing about wooden spoons - if anyone hasn't mentioned it befpre. The term "won a wooden spoon", means that you've got a bum deal, come last, lost out. I think this is CDPRs way of saying you lose everytime you bargin with Gunter O'Dimm.
"He who sups with the devil should have a long spoon" is also something worth mentioning, the long spoon is there to keep the devil away, when you make a deal with Gaunter he breaks the spoon, meaning youre in his grasp now, or that youre his.. "associate".
O' Dimm doesn't appear aggressive, but hostile. He wouldn't physically attack the Unseen Elder with no reason (within his character rule) but messes with his victims' subconscious. Though smart, the Unseen Elder's flaw is his temper, it's an easy win for O' Dimm
dont forget that certain types of magic that work on humans dont work on vampires, that's in the books. O'dimm might be very powerful but maybe his magic would not work right or on him.

I feel like Gaunter O Dimm wouldnt really want to fight either way considering he is a manipulator. He is absolutely a power house yet he never goes into direct confrontation except the one time when he is annoyed. Also, he enjoys the game of playing on emotions so he would have no gratification of just... killing which he probably would consider banal with his theatrics.
The unseen elder hissed his defiance as gaunter o'dimm strolled through the entrance to his lair. In a blur of motion the elder rushed at o'dimm to strike him down, and as he swipes at where o'dimm's throat should be, he stares at his bloodless claws in confusion. "My my, you are very fast I see" says gaunter as he admires the lair several feet behind where the elder is now standing. The elder commands his brethren to his lair. "One as powerful as you must want for nothing" said o'dimm cheerfully, "you have total command over other vampires, strong enough to over power anyone who gets in your way. I bet there is nothing you could possibly want". The elders brethren formed a cautious circle around o'dimm, hissing and snarling, some appearing in clouds of smoke. "Just my peace" snarled the elder. "You have intruded on my solitude". A mischievous grin forms on gaunter's face and as he stares directly into the elders eyes, the circling vampires freeze. Some mid snarl, some still floating as puffs of smoke, all motionless. As gaunter begins to casually walk towards the elder, the immediate area around them darkens and the background fades away. "Well then" says o'dimm, as the background begins to form again, replaced by a misty, desolate terrain that the elder doesn't recognise. "I may have a proposition for you". The elder attacks, swiping furiously at where o'dimm stands, but for some reason this does nothing. Gaunter stands there as substantial as the mists around him, and chuckles as if at a personal joke when the elder stops. "I'm a man of many skills, the mirror man some call me, and I have a proposition for you. What if I could give you all the peace and solitude that you could ever want? Asks gaunter. And again with his mischievous grin gaunter glances toward the moon, "or make you more powerful than you could ever imagine. I can make it a reality... for a small price"

The whole (or the most of it) Heart of Stone story line is based on "The wedding" by Stanisław Wyspiański (1901) a polish drama describing the wedding of a noble man with a peasant girl in Bronowice, a part of today Kraków (Cracov). Thats the wedding part. Second inspiration was old folk tale about Twardowski, a man who fools a devil and make him his servant. Twardowski promises that he would meet the devil in Rome to pay for his service but he never intended to travel to Rome but after years, he was in travel. In the dark night he saw a light. It was an Inn. Then devil came back. And asked for his soul. He refused, but then he ask about the Inn name. Twardowski looked at the inscription on the door. The Inn was called Rome. Then devil took his soul and leaved his body on the moon. This expansion was very familiar to the polish community because we know the original story and then we saw the CDP adaptation.
Ah, there you go. Just made a comment about O'Dimm and I couldn't remember the name of this piece of folklore. But he was also inspired by another fairytale which was very familiar to the German community. The power to know his true name and his obsession with spoons is basically the character of Rumplestilskin. A miller claims his daughter could spin gold out of straw. So the King takes her and orders her to spin the gold overnight, or else she would die the next morning. There comes the devil, in some versions he flies in on a spoon, and offers her to do so for her if he gets her bracelet in return. Ofc they agree and the king encounters a room full of gold. He promises to marry the girl if she can pull it off a second time. So the next night the devil returns but this time, he demands her first child. She agrees. Years came and went but someday the devil returned to claim her eldest child. The royal family offers him any riches in the land but he wants the thing he is owed, the child. Seeing her tears he smirks and offers a new deal. If she can outwit him and guess his true name, then she can keep her child. She has 3 days to accomplish it. Later she sends her subjects to spy on the devil in his cave, where spoons hang everywhere from the ceiling, and the devil dances around a fire. As he dances, he sings about his true name, "how good is it, that no one knows, that my name is truly Rumplestilskin". Then they banish him by calling him out. Oh and the name comes from Stephen King's the dark tower.
o´Dimm draws from too many legends, myths and characters to be truly pinned down, some inpsirations are more clear then others, his name coming down to God, o´Dimm is astoundingly close to Odin, who also frequently appears as a beggar among men to judge on their behaviour without them knowing and seal their fate based upon it, basically somewhat playing with them, while his demeanor is close to Loki (mischief and games that only he understands). The tongues he speaks and the way the books talked about him imply a Demon from any sort of Abrahamic religion, or possibly even the Devil himself. Twardowski btw. also drew from Gothes Faust. Its just a big tangly knot, which makes it all that easier to make him somewhat understandable yet deeply abstract. He just is Evil incarnate, cold, somewhat reasonable, yet also capable of the most random outbursts of senseless violence, sometimes even more so psychological then physical. There just is no absolute outplaying him, since he invented the game, cause in the end even his loss against geralt is barely one move on the chessboard of a match thats been going on for millenia.

Spoons gaunter o dimm turned that one girl into a wight he can do anything if gaunter suddenly decided he wanted the unseen elders soul he would do it easily
The character he is based on was the devil, not god. Though the devil would like people to worship himself as god and would like to think about himself as god. Proof being he is not, he is defeated by Geralt a man. The character makes deals with people at cross roads, which is an old idea that you can make deals with the devil at cross roads. He makes deals with people in hopes of taking their souls, this also comes from ideas about the devil. He doesn't force people to do his will but manipulates them to do it, also the devil's M.O.
Exactly, no matter how powerful the Unseen Elder is he has limits; the only limits Gaunter O'Dimm has would be the ones he places on himself to interact with people and make things more challenging/interesting for himself.

@@lucifers.morningstar3805 I'd say that there are rules that the... universe...? is placing upon Gaunter. Like he said - everyone who learned his true name is dead or worse. Or with the profesor - as long as he stays in the circle he's safe. I have a theory that it is not something Gaunter does to his "victims". He could simply chose not to hurt Geralt. It's more of a thing that just... happens. Mortals are not ment to know about him and Universe is just correcting itself whenever they do. Which would mean that Gaunter is bound by some universal rules. Might be too complex for us to understand, but they are there.
@@mar2506 I guess some people don't like the idea of an evil incarnate so much that they decided to consider a vampire who doesn't care if an entire city burns down, more powerful
@@thepowerlies Someone here in the comments wrote that gaunter is nothing but a cheap Trickster like q from star trek, knowing q is omnipotent 😂 He says that gaunter doesn't know how to fight, he can't beat elder 😂it's hard to understand to some people, I agree gaunter is like q, but q can do time travel, teleport anything through time and space, can freeze people, erase and create people, much weaker version of q destroyed entire planet with a thought across galaxies. They think q is Trickster as well 😂 He says gaunter cant do anything but cheap tricks, but gaunter almost did everything although he rarely appeared
It's not that O'dimm can't take your soul on a whim. But being all powerfull with life eternal must be a boring existance. Thus he creates rules for himself, as some sort of game. He makes contracts with mortals and observe them for entertainment. O'dimm simply craves to be entertained, if he wished for the destruction or domination for the world he would have done so long ago.
The Unseen is just very, very strong vampire, while Gaunter is personification of evil or curse by itself, with goals beyond of our understanding. Even if Gaunter has ultimate powers, he still seems to use them humbly by some rules we don't know. So in the end, Gaunter would not even fight Unseen, killing him would probably give him nothing anyway.
O'Dimm is just a trickster who burns up and gets banished for losing a bet and can only get souls from scamming people. The Elder is unbeatable and ends Geralt instantly. His army of undead would find him and lock him in a jar or something like a Djinn.
@@thefinalroman Why is Unseen Elder defeating Geralt something that proves he's stronger than G.O.D? Gaunter sucked an immortal man's soul in seconds and he manipulates time and reality.
@@leoortiiiz no actually he didn't do that only if you let him. He has a bunch of stupid parlor tricks and wasn't able to get the soul without going through a bunch of stupid process and he ends up losing anyways and then burning up like an idiot. Why don't you go step in the elders cave and see what happens to you....
@@thefinalroman Just because he placed limits on himself doesn't mean his is weak. Given that for Gunther, a bet with the possibility of you winning is part of the fun.
I think you should consider making this into a series, where you take two characters and compare their different strengths in order to draw a conclusion on who is the strongest. I don't know if it would be as interesting as this particular episode though.
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? This is a logical analysis of a philosophical question innit? If we’re to take the rule that only a higher vampire can kill a higher vampire(which were by no means obligated to, since GoD appears to be the exception to most if not all rules) then GoD could theoretically turn himself into a higher vampire the kill theUE, but would that make him vulnerable to the same rule?
O’Dimm is definitely an equivalent of our depiction of the devil cause his charakter & the whole dynamics between him and Olgierd is heavily inspired by the Polish legend about Pan Twardowski, in which a noble man sold his soul to the devil in exchange for magical powers. Thanks for all your work, really enjoying it!
Dear xLetalis, since Heart Of Stone expansion is based on themes from a Polish legend called "Pan Twardowski" or "A Legend Of Pan Twardowski", I would definitely classify Gunter O'Dim as the devil himself. The source material deals with a character of Pan Twardowski who made a deal with the devil and does everything in his power not to fulfil it as doing this would mean his death. There is even a moment when they meet in a tavern called "The Moon" to finalise the contract - this is reminiscent of what''s going on in the game.
The final piece of the puzzle for me was the professor referring to odimm as evil incarnate. As in he’s literally the devil not just a demon. In that sense he’d definitely be able to win any battle even thought he has the rules he’s has to follow for some reason
O dimm is the literal devil. He is a cosmic entity, probably fully immortal and immune to any kind of damage. He is also a master of time. The elder is fucked.
O’Dimm could freeze time and push a spoon through the elders eye... not that they’d ever be in a violent confrontation, Gaunter literally has god like abilities.
7:37 When O'Dimm tricks Olgierd to stand on the Moon and prepares to takes his soul, Olgierd doesn't even try to pull out his saber and swing at Master Mirror. Olgierd didn't have anything to lose at that point and the sword was a cool demon saber so you'd think he would at least _try_ to fight back. Or maybe he had tried that before and it didn't work out?
Just think what O'Dimm did to him for being a smartass (with those contract conditions). And try to imagine what he would do for an attempt at cheating.
The extent of the Unseen vampire is never fully explained they say ultimately only a vampire can kill another higher vampire and Regis says something about them not really existing in a corporeal state to begin with but probably Guanter if you can check off all his abilities it’s easier to just write down yes to all
O'Dimm is clearly - the Devil himself. I mean THE devil. So, as a divine creature, he will definitely have no problem. Vampires are supernatural beings, but this is divine, in a way. Clues about O'Dimm are everywhere... Grants wishes (which backfire on the one wishing them) and takes away one's soul, signs a contract, follows a certain set of rules... Those rules exist only because there is one and only one force more powerful than him. Plus, this story is inspired by a tale about the devil and a man trying to outplay him by saying that contract will be fulfilled once they meet in Rome, clearly having no intention of ever going to that city. Only to enter a tavern named Rome one day... I find his name also a clue... Initials. That is a form of mocking and disrespecting the only force more powerful than him and is really in accordance to who he is. Or maybe a way of developers saying "The devil is the god for the entire Witcher universe". Which is plausible considering what it looks like and what creatures live there...
Picture the Unseen elder as the big fish in a fish tank with all those tiny feeders, O'dimm is the naughty kid tapping on the glass and swirling the water with a spoon
I’m like gaunter is like a demon and the unseen is an actual creature. Might be very old but still just a creature. Gaunter can literally defy death and change reality at will...
O‘dimm since Geralt did not really kill him. Geralt can’t kill O‘Dimm. He simply banished him from our realm for some time, which others have done before Geralt. O‘Dimm is either some type of demonic creature or the devil himself.
@Wirr Ling no, he's not. Plus, as somebody already said,, O'Dimm made rules for banishing himself. It's like elder brother saying he will go out of your room if you do sth. It's not like Force of the Universe will push him out if he remain inside anyway.
O'Dimm. Hes got to be some form of Deity in the Witcher universe. A lot like the Devil actually. Making bargains/deals, eternal existence, strict adherence to his word (usually to his own benefit, but refuses to cheat). He's either the Devil of that universe or just another Deity being.
While this isn't even worth discussing as a power ranking since it's completely one sided, I think it's to their credit that they made a new character feel so incredibly intimidating and powerful AFTER we'd met O'Dimm. You'd think any new threat would seem like a joke by comparison, but the Unseen Elder was both terrifying and fascinating.
O'D is unstoppable,... He can do whatever he wants, he knows everything.... So mybe he know how to kill a H vampire without the help of another..... Or tormenting the unseen by just making a lot of noise next to the bridge of his dimension, making him made to the point of kelling himself... Lol
Goddammit, I really want another Witcher game, or even DLC. I just love the slow-burn story telling and character development. I know cdpr have said geralt's story is over, but they could do DLC or even a full game with any of the main characters and it would be amazing (just not multiplayer. I do not want a quality story ruined by other people). Oh well. Just have to wait and hope.
i would do anything to actually be allowed to get more missions from 0dimm, by far the coolest concept with awzome rewards, wish there was a option to say, if you ever need me, ill be only a request away. i personally claimed that vodka bottle, so i get infinite potions
@@Obtite Yeah... I normally save him and get the viper sword, which, once you get the viper armour, is going to see you through until you get Aerondight. I don't think he's that cool, in the grand scheme of things. He's essentially Sean Bean but without the class. I'd prefer to play a DLC as Regis, for example.
I think O'Dimm is Witcher's version of Loki
O'Dimm literally made a normal person immortal. He stops time. He can see through time. Nothing can come close.
awfulinternet ciri is stronger
When he says it’s out of his reach I assume it implies that he cannot access other worlds like ciri. Since it is implied that the isle of mist isn’t on the same plane of existence, he cannot access it.
Braeden Conti don’t think so he did see ciri future and knows a lot he probably have limit but if ciri can go through other world he def can
Braeden Conti plus he also live in another plane so definitely can travel worlds

@@callumpawley2540 facts
O'Dimm could defeat the Elder by just talking him to death.
"Speak of the devil and he doth appear" Perhaps it works for reading as well
Into the thoughts of human beings.
True, very true.
Gaunter's true identity revealed :) th-cam.com/video/dLNb0Jd4_ws/w-d-xo.html&t=23

Freight train on steroids
Not just the devil, full on Nyarlathotep, So the super-devil on Eldritch steroids.
@The Ivan His depiction is consistent with depictions of the devil in folk lore and other literature. He's also evil af. He's the devil, not God.

The onky reason why he dosnt just kill off is bc he can do what he want
@Ivan Exell Eredin is your typical evil warlord; ambitious and ruthless.
Gaunter is, by nature, a far more interesting character. We've seen him killed a man with a spoon and threatened to take Vlodimir with him - which proves that he never needed a contract to kill someone or take their soul. This, combined with the fact that he actually gave Geralt a chance to win their game, showed us that he's doing what he did for fun.

This isn't even a question of "Who would win", it's a question of "How long would O'Dimm torment the Elder before he gets bored?"

Oof idk about that
I feel like Gaunter O Dimm wouldnt really want to fight either way considering he is a manipulator. He is absolutely a power house yet he never goes into direct confrontation except the one time when he is annoyed. Also, he enjoys the game of playing on emotions so he would have no gratification of just... killing which he probably would consider banal with his theatrics.
Yep. He even said he dislikes simple solutions. Dont think he would like killing someone upright.
He fucking takes souls and kill people with spoons yeah my money is on gaunter. He can kill directly but doesn't coz it's boring for him then
Killing would be boring.

Unseen Elder is my spirit animal
Sits 24/7 in a dark room
Sleeps a lot
Hates it when he has to socialize

Chances are O'Dimm is just a very powerfull demon, not the devil. He mentions in his first encounter with Geralt that he is not omnicient and since we know O'Dimm never lies, its safe to assume he has limits when it comes to his powers. So yeah, this situation is likely far close than you think.
I would guess its a post-conjuction demon who doesnt have a actual manifestation in our world, he isnt killable but he isnt that powerfull either.
If that old vampire was Kain (Legacy of Kain series), I wouldn't make any bets there.

The story with the heart made out of stone is also inspired by the german folk "Das kalte Herz" (1827)
o´Dimm draws from too many legends, myths and characters to be truly pinned down, some inpsirations are more clear then others, his name coming down to God, o´Dimm is astoundingly close to Odin, who also frequently appears as a beggar among men to judge on their behaviour without them knowing and seal their fate based upon it, basically somewhat playing with them, while his demeanor is close to Loki (mischief and games that only he understands).
Fascinating. We have similar folk tales in Romania, just south of Poland xD

Gaunter O' Dimm is almost for sure devil himself. Hearts of stone expansion is based on polish legend about Pan Twardowski (Mr. Twardowski), who was polish nobleman.
Pan Twardowski sign pact with devil, which said that devil can only take his soul in Rome. But eventually he end up in inn named Rome. Of course the devil used it and kidnapped Twardowski.

"never... EVER make her feel as if you've sold her out"
*10... 20*
I DIED AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
There are no divine beings in Witcher, dafuq?
Hows the devil divine?
@@fatboysexclusive8096 He was once an angel. That makes him "of God". So, as smb coming from that level...
@@Vincinate Read again, carefully
@@fatboysexclusive8096 He was an arch-angel.
Picture the Unseen elder as the big fish in a fish tank with all those tiny feeders, O'dimm is the naughty kid tapping on the glass and swirling the water with a spoon
3:50 - you also meet Go'D at a crossroads which is the usual place to make a pact/deal with a demon or devil :)
Gaunter O Dimm, would play with him first... then after some torture and laughs, he would dispose him. Gaunter O Dimm is basically inmortal.
I’m like gaunter is like a demon and the unseen is an actual creature. Might be very old but still just a creature. Gaunter can literally defy death and change reality at will...
I think that Gunter O'Dimm is the most powerful being we've seen in The Witcher so far
"Force him to socialise with people"
It just sounds too light coming from the devil
Gaunter would win so fast, there'd still be time left to chat about gingerbread recipes!
O'Dimm's theme song alone will beat any Higher Vampire...Unseen or not!
That Uma Yen is scary lol
O'Dimm. Hes got to be some form of Deity in the Witcher universe. A lot like the Devil actually. Making bargains/deals, eternal existence, strict adherence to his word (usually to his own benefit, but refuses to cheat). He's either the Devil of that universe or just another Deity being.
"Instead, may just choose to torment him somehow, by forcing him to socialize, perhaps?"
Oh, I can't think of worse torture than that.
If a simple Yrden works on higher vampires, there's no way O'dimm's global selective time stop wouldn't work on the Unseen
