    Replace the grips with ODI Longneck SL grips. they are 12 dollars and you will forever thank me. most comfortable grips for this set up and they are actually for BMX bikes lol.. but they work amazing on this.

      just bought odi lock grips for mine lol .2 sets as there is 3 grips and cost me a third of what the gimbal cost me hahah but i think 120 dollas for a full set up 2 batteries and grips and hard case is s steal in my opinion

    The "suitcase" mode can be used for lower shooting angles, this makes the task much easier. You just carry this "suitcase" in one hand and don't get tired as much as if you were bent over and shooting with two hands from a lower angle.

    Glad to see people still rocking the Ronin-M! I had a Zhiyun Crane V2 first with my Panasonic G7, but after moving to the G85, Viltrox EF-M2, and heavier Sigma 18-35, the V2 didn't cut it. I almost went with the Crane 2, but I prefer dual handles and the Ronin-M seemed like a perfect fit. Haven't looked back since! I'm now using it with a SmallRig ring & feet, and it handles my A7III with a cage and Sigma 24 & 50 f/1.4 primes with no issues. I did build a DIY backpack support for it, since it's a bit on the heavy side and I'm weak, but I have no plans to move to a one-handed pistol grip gimbal anytime soon. The new DJI RS2 looks pretty awesome, but still just doesn't quite have the stability and smoothness of the M, in my opinion. Also I had a Monoprice hard case for mine, but it was a huge pain in the ass to set up and tear down every shoot, so I just leave it on the SmallRig ring with velcro straps holding it all in place and flat. So far so good!

      Awesome write up and so good to hear your experience with similar stabilisers to the ronin S. I’m in the same boat, stability has always been an issue with those ones, and never getting the same results as the M, especially with heavier gear. What was your experience with the RS2? Can’t imagine it being too different to the S or Zhiyuns?

      @@hellopopo315 I’ve actually not used anything other than the M and Crane V2. I’m only going off footage I’ve seen on here. The RS2 and Crane 2S seem to be the best pistol grip gimbals out.

    Pretty damn good gimbal, they are somewhat let down by their batteries where if you don't keep them topped up to 60% or so, they brick themselves (on the upside, I've picked up a used Ronin-M which was is perfect condition, which only needed a new battery for around AU$130)

  • @TheBoyandHisPiano

    Quick question: I use the canon 80D and sigma 18-35mm art lens (doesn't have IS) for shooting music videos. I know slow motion footage takes out micro shakes but for the music videos I do, slow motion isn't ideal.
    So I'm wondering how steady this gimbal will be for my camera and lens. I'm sure you know that any shakes ruin cinematic shots, so I need a gimbal that will be really smooth.
    Thank you.

    • @hellopopo315
      @hellopopo315  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're after extremely smooth footage, then this is the gimbal for you. Single grip gimbals like the Ronin-S won't give you as stable shots as when using a Ronin-M. Just remember that if you get the Ronin-M (or any other gimbal for that matter), you will still need to have good technique with everything else (ie. Walk smoothly - as though you are trying not to spill a cup of tea, reduce your up and down motion as best as you can so that it doesn't look like you're walking/bobbing up and down, do your pan and tilts smoothly and in a "cinematic" way, etc). Let us know how you go!

      @@HashashiyyinDex A couple of things come to mind. Firstly, are you using an image stabilisation function on the GH5S and does the 25mm lens also have stabilisation turned on? If both have stabilisation, sometimes this can actually have a negative impact on your footage, because it may try to overcompensate the over stabilised footage. The second thing i can think of, is have a look at the app > Motor > scroll down to live data. All of the numbers under the "Power" column should be as close to 0 as possible. If one is out, then try re-balance this one movement. Let me know if either of these helps at all.

    • @HashashiyyinDex
      @HashashiyyinDex 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hellopopo315 thanks for your advices! In fact - GH5S do not have stabilisation and neither has the lens. And the motors show 0-1 power on all axis when the gimbal is
      steady.. so it has to be something else..
      I have been trying some more optimalisation last days and it seems that when I gain stiffness it gets better, but never is perfect.. and most of the people use just the auto-tune function and get perfect results (according to youtube)

    • @hellopopo315
      @hellopopo315  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Filip Nosák try updating the app and the ronin m’s firmware as well. Then try and do the rebalance again. I had the same situation where I thought I properly balanced the ronin, but went through everything again from the beginning and fixed it. Let me know if any of the above helps. Also, have a look at the link I posted in the info from YCImaging and try his settings! Also try this: th-cam.com/video/cqAg9ZsHyco/w-d-xo.html

    Great video mate. Same as you, even though I thought it was cool, I've never used the remote control. Also share you're issues with the stand. I've been thinking of getting that giant ring wth a stand.

      Hey mate, no swelling of batteries. I try to keep them out of hot weather and definitely not left in the car more than say 30 minutes, even then on a hot day, just not at all.
      The ring seems cool, but just increases the footprint of the system that much more I feel like I wouldn’t use it, just my thoughts. Good to hear you had similar thoughts as me!

  • @Orvulum
    @Orvulum ปีที่แล้ว

    Of course this is an old video, but for those who may be watching it now, there's a lesson to be learned: dji products are "throw away" items. The Ronin-M is evidence of that; even though it was a good gimbal, it was rendered a worthless hunk of junk when dji pulled all support for the product by halting production of proprietary "smart" batteries and auxiliary power adapter, leaving thousands of customers in limbo. If you can afford to "throw away" a dji product and simply replace it with a new one (or a new model) if it happens to break... If you can afford to do that, then you are good to go. If not, then perhaps you should think twice about your purchase!

  • @BruceRichardsonMusic
    @BruceRichardsonMusic 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have come from the FUTURE to say that the thing you need to know the very MOST about purchasing the RONIN M is that it's a wonderful gimbal that DJI will abandon totally, so that your significant investment is a TOTAL WASTE. DJI was apparently so obsessed with ensuring that no one could make aftermarket batteries to replace their horrible failing ones, that you cannot power this gimbal any other way.
