      Welcome aboard and I'm glad you're enjoying it! Timeless is peak nonsense, it's so fun! lol

      @@priorityholder Seems like diet modern for better and for worse haha!
      Tho I've noticed you mostly play tempo/mid-range/good stuff piles, I might be unfamiliar with the format, but is control not something people indulge with in timeless or is it simply not that viable?

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@gobomania Yeah Timeless is like some sort of Modern/Legacy hybrid. It has stuff like Dark Ritual, Show and Tell, and Reanimate from Legacy, but also Modern stuff like I showcase in this vid.
      I'm not a control expert, but I do have some control decks I'm working on. In my opinion, they are harder to both build and to pilot. Control in Timeless is tough because you're fighting on so many axes, you have to fight hyperfast aggro decks, value-y piles running The One Ring, and various combos like Belcher, Storm, and SnT. It's just hard to have the right tools at the right time. BUT it's not hopeless, I battle against control decks frequently, so there's people fighting the good fight lol!
      I personally tend to find more success on the prison side of control. However, draw-go control is certainly viable. There's amazing tools like Mana Drain, Swords to Plowshares, Dig Through Time, and Leyline Binding.
      Also, I play exclusively best-of-one, and control probably feels a lot better to pilot in best-of-three with a sideboard to help you out.
      But yeah, definitely give Control in Timeless a go, and hopefully I'll eventually post a Control video lol

    Thanks for this video! This old modern player likes it!
    That game vs angels looked like a classic jund match. Nice.

      Hey glad to hear it! Can you imagine if we got Splinter Twin + Pestermite on Arena? lol

      @priorityholder That would be amazing! I've been trying to make affinity work but it's like 50% win rate so meh.

    You should definitely run surveil lands, sure its not "old school" but it makes your deck consistency so much better

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I could definitely feel the lack of surveil lands during some of those games. I think one or two more creature lands would have helped combat mana flood a bit more, but surveil lands would be nice. This nostalgia build was mostly to see how the old guard could compete. I do want to try to make an updated Jund deck (complete with surveil lands) sometime though.

      @@priorityholder YUHHH id love to see it! It was still some very fun games to watch it's just those few turns off I was thinking "dang I really wish they had surveil lands"

  • @tomtherainbow
    @tomtherainbow หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I appreciate the commitment to theme, even going 50/50 with the all-time 50/50 deck. Really good games, too. I'm sure people prefer wins, but the losses showed off how tough it is to win, and how easy it is to lose.

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I'm always a bit apprehensive about posting vids that aren't all wins and sunshine, but like you said, losing shows how hard it is to win. Another tough aspect, is that upon editing I start realizing all the decisions I could have better. I think at least two of the losses could have been wins with better play. It's annoying in those cases knowing that I could have done better, and that I'm making the deck look worse lol.
      Also, knowing how decks lose is as important as knowing how they win. Anyway, thanks for chiming in!

    What's your ideal home for Dark Confidant? Lurrus shell? Classic Jund? Death's Shadow? Something else?

    • @lestoro1
      @lestoro1 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think dc today is a bit outdated card... In the current timeless meta there are so many good response cards against it.
      But anyway I loved the video and the deck, I went way back in the old memories 😄😄.. I'm really interested to see a modernized version of the jund deck!!

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@lestoro1 Glad you liked the video! Yeah the biggest knock against DC in Timeless is the popularity of Orcish Bowmasters. Not to mention the influx of powercrept cards like the entire core of RW Energy deck (Ajani's token, Ocelot's token, and Bombardment are all bad news for DC and DC can't trade with Ocelot or Raptor in combat). And many popular cards that would otherwise be nice alongside DC would be painful hits since they have high mana value: Grief, Fury, and The One Ring. And The One Ring sort of does the card advantage thing even better.
      But one thing DC does have going for it is are super low to the ground Lurrus decks. I could see it finding a home there. But maybe I'm not the best person to ask since I like playing very questionable cards lol
      I do want to explore Jund's full potential in Timeless. The hard part is deciding which direction to go in.

      @@priorityholder One of the best time travel films. Period.

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JeremyDeere Yeah it's so good, love how grounded it is and how thoughtfully they designed the parameters for how time travel worked in the film. Also like how they left it sort of fuzzy/ambiguous how the technology operated. Better than tying to anything in specific, makes it more timeless that way... and you know I like Timeless lol

    • @JeremyDeere
      @JeremyDeere หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @priorityholder Your videos got me hooked on Timeless. I've built radkos scam, mono blk shadow scam, and mono blk midrange for "meta" decks. Currently I've been testing a delirium list that's actually winning often. It's all in on the midrange plan with hand disruption in sb.
      Funny thing is the deck is 90% standard legal. Lol

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JeremyDeere Hey that's amazing! I'm glad you're having fun and success! I'm also a fan of Scam decks. The pitch elementals make some other clunky cards more viable since you can always use them to evoke a Fury or a Solitude lol.
      Also, you get to play Dark Ritual in Timeless which is so dang sweet! Turn 1 Dark Ritual into a scammed Grief into a Bowmasters is just good clean living haha
      Delirium is on my radar. FOMO alone really boosts the power level since it rummages and provides enchantments for the graveyard which was previously not as trivial. Are you on Lurrus companion for your Delirium deck?
      You mention your nearly Standard legal Timeless deck and I think something most Magic players don't realize is that there's more cross-format viability than they think. Like if you took a stock Standard burn list, or a strong midrange pile like Delirium, you'd get a couple of wins in Timeless. Maybe not an amazing win rate, but it'd put up a fight. Now add a couple of upgrades and you're off to the races. I mean, there exist Draft decks that can beat Vintage decks. Magic is just so cool!

    Why no surveil Lands for goyf?

    • @priorityholder
      @priorityholder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only reason they were excluded was because this was a nostalgia build, so I was just trying to use old favorites. But it would definitely benefit from surveil lands. I do want to try an updated take on Jund sometime though
