Hey hun I have bad flaky scalp as well and I have had my braid locs for 3 months. What I do to reduce flakiness is to dilute some apple cider vinegar and spray it on my scalp and rub it on my scalp then wash my hair with clarifying shampoo on wash day. Also I take pure tree tea oil and dilute it in my water bottle with water and spray it on my scalp every other day. Tea tree is small so its really important to dilute the smell is strong but tea tree oil treats flaky skin and scalp. If you are worried about the smell you can definitely mix it with whatever of your liking to make it smell better. Tea tree oil -apple cider vinegar is key!

Nice to hear a differing opinion about rose water. I use it currently (only one month into braidlocs), but idk if it's making a difference. Everyone acts like it's the holy grail.

I put peppermint oil in my oil mixture(olive4oz/advcado2oz/ castor oil1oz) for my dry scalp. Just massage it every 3 to 4days. I don't like rose water either I like aloe vera juice.

Same! Rose water seems to work for everyone else. But not everything works for everyone.

I agree. I do not like the rose water. I can’t stand the smell and I think my scalp didn’t like it

Rose water makes my hair flake up. I just simply didn't like it. Just had to accept that not everything works for everyone.
