Steel Rain to go nuts in the middle of traffic is what I call "tries not to affect anyone else" too! It's 100% cool in everyone's book! btw nice photo, man, you must be #1 hoolingan in your area, real baddie >:o
I've seen people drive like this guy rides in London all the time. Difference is he's not angry and swearing at you because you've slowed him down. He just cycles around you, job done. And those who say 'if he crashes he deserves it' maybe but how many fatal we're caused by cars this year. A massive ton more.
You are 100% correct. I've been cycling, fixed gear, for about 5 years now and people think the aggressive way of riding is actually unsafe. Making judgement and riding that aggressive is actually safer than riding casually in a city setting. City drivers are aggressive as well so you need to make yourself seen. This is 100% correct riding and I love how he also has respect for drivers saying that he doesn't want to be a disruption or bother anyone. This rules.
I'm 24, work as a full time engineer and still ride my bike everywhere. Best form of transport and believe me, it is much faster than any form of motorised vehicle during rush hour traffic. Plus a good workout too.
Not sure why every video about messengers on YT has angry people being aggressively negative. If you hate people who ride fast so much, why even click on the video? What else could you possibly expect to find?
Kender I andre gode genveje inde i/omkring byen?
jwawawa2 What the fuck, did you seriously go back in my comment history, JUST to say that? You're such a goddamn inbred shitkid that I am amazed that you can be such a fucking idiot. To even think you would spend time going a year back in my comment history to say that shit, and you didn't even spell I'm or wankstain right. You are obviously 10.
that's funny about the 3:00 p.m. deadline for court filing, because here on the other side of the world, we have same 3:00 p.m. deadline at some courts. they have a computer which generates your number to wait in line to get something filed. show up at 3:01 p.m., and you don't get no number, and can't file. you'd be a great court runner/process server lol
FOR ALL THE PEOPLE ADRESSING COMMENTS DIRECTLY TO JUMBO: HE IS NOT THE ONE RECIEVING THEM, AND I DON'T THINK HE REALLY CARES WHAT YOU THINK ANYWAY... I AM A FILMMAKER LIVING IN NYC, SOON WITH MORE ASPHALT FLICS TO COME - LIKE IT OR NOT. I'M HAVING A BLAST! -THANKS FOR WATCHING AND DEBATING!
yep you can say that about all the messengers on youtube. I only find it refreshing that he's at least aware of his impact on traffic and somewhat tries to not cause heavy problems
This is the same style and philosophy i have when it comes to bike riding in a city - cyclist find their way around 'objects', none moving and moving(humans are also objects for a cyclist). No one should care about the cyclist or move out of their way, that is unexpected move for us and actually makes everything harder.
Five years are gone but still... While I have the same goal and principles as you and this guy, I think one should care about pedestrian boundaries, is very natural to get freaked out/surprised/scared/annoyed if a guy pass just by your side/in front of you while you are walking on the crosswalk or the sidewalk, and whatever our skill level we are putting them in a non-asked, unnecesary and plain absurd dangerous situation while they are existing in a supposed shared safe area... there are enough 4ssh0l3s in cars sh1tt1ng on them already, let's be just little smarter and human than those. People are subjects, with their own inwardness, experiences, feelings etc, not objects.
To outsiders it does indeed look dangerous and probably ruthless. The secret is to not be seen by other people before it's basically too late for them to react. If you pay attention, you may notice that in the "dangerous" situations he either approaches other people from behind or passes by very quickly - out of the nowhere (from their perspective). Of course this requires massive experience. To get an idea about what distances messengers typically cover in few days, take a look at this nice time lapsed animation of GPS tracked rides: lab.bikecitizens.net/cycle-courier-rides/
+Steve Warris Depends on his weight, how often he skids, and the quality of the tire. Companies like Panasonic make tires reinforced for skidding, like the Soma Super Everwear tire.
A bit optimistic on the numbers there aren't we? In NYC the rate is $4-$5 max per delivery. In London, England the rate is 2 GBP max per delivery. There is not a delivery every 10 minutes, couriers can deliver as little as 10 packages as many as 40 in a day. What this works out to is that beginning couriers average $8-$12 per hour for the hours they work. Experienced couriers average $11-$15/hr. Then there are the "stars" that are capable of $15-$21/hr. For this last group there are very few.
51/17 = 3 48/16 = 3 therefore for every full rotation of the cranks the wheels rotate 3 times. starting and stopping at the same points. therefore either ratio has the same number of skid patches
Great! Welcome to Russia! We don't have bike tracks and we don't have tickets for bikers either! :-) Was nice to see familiar places of Kobenhavn, thanks!
0:47 it's really too bad there wasn't someone to give you a ticket for that reckless move. it's no wonder I have so much trouble riding without drivers giving me a hard time with people like you on the street. there are plenty of traffic loopholes cyclists can *safely* exploit. look into them.
Stop whining. I ride that exact spot several times a week. If you know the traffic lights this is one of the more easy crossings, because it is a 3-way intersection with several stops for cars making left/right turns. So he is in fact exploiting the very loophole that you talk about. And if you are not from this city, do not comment about the riding. You do not know the streets or the lights. So shut the fuck up, dude.
@AsphaltCPH It's probably been asked already and you've probably answered it, so in advance sorry to ask.... again ;) I wanted to know what bike you ride and most of all what's the brand and the model of your wheels. Cheers keep cruising with that great style of yours and most of all stay safe. PS: I had some great rides everytime i was in København, great city, great spirit PEACE from Paris :)
I once rode through with Antonio Da Cruz in Sydney AFTER the Olympic Games RR in 2000. He was awesome through traffic, anyone who thinks Pros would struggle to match a messenger in traffic should be made aware this is probably not the case.
I am 20 years old and I always love riding bikes but recently I figure out that most of my friends have stop riding their bikes and are more focus on cars now. They say I need to grow up and get a car now bcuz girl dont want a boy in a bike. I kinda believe them but idk.. I still enjoy biking am even thinking of buying another bike but everyone tell me to save up for a car now. Am I just getting to old for this? Since I am the only one with a bike now. Or should I continue riding but now solo
I appreciate people who live life on the edge like that. He's skilled and tries not to affect anyone else, that's cool in my book.
Steel Rain to go nuts in the middle of traffic is what I call "tries not to affect anyone else" too! It's 100% cool in everyone's book!
btw nice photo, man, you must be #1 hoolingan in your area, real baddie >:o
Thank you, I run block with my homies.
Agreed! Its not in a show-off kind of way at all
"My goal is to ride without being in anybody's way," my respect for you just went up another +10.
I've seen people drive like this guy rides in London all the time. Difference is he's not angry and swearing at you because you've slowed him down. He just cycles around you, job done.
And those who say 'if he crashes he deserves it' maybe but how many fatal we're caused by cars this year. A massive ton more.
Cars are on track to cause about 8 billion deaths with the climate change disaster
You are 100% correct. I've been cycling, fixed gear, for about 5 years now and people think the aggressive way of riding is actually unsafe. 10 years later and this is the man behind the Omnium cargo bikes! 🔥
Hey, any brand in particular?
Oh fuck I need one now. I've been coming back to this video for years!
Finally a featured bike messenger who actually takes the other traffic into account as being people.
0:51 ...not really.
Not sure why every video about messengers on YT has angry people being aggressively negative. If you hate people who ride fast so much, why even click on the video? What else could you possibly expect to find?
TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLO
sick one handed wheelie around the turn !!

"Quiksilver" baby one of my favorite movies!!!
is this the guy that designed the omnium cargo bike?

The Black Keys, or Dan Auerbach's solo album, can't tell. LOVE THEM.
Adds colour to the city and as he said, if your not causing trouble then good luck to him. Is the fastest way to get important paperwork around town.
wow hes like the first messanger ive seen on yt who actually cares about other members of the traffic ...and hes still fast -very impressive
Did you even see the video? He doesnt care about anything or anyone in traffic. All avout the rush.
yep you can say that about all the messengers on youtube. I only find it refreshing that he's at least aware of his impact on traffic and somewhat tries to not cause heavy problems
dont let them get you down!
you make some great videos.
Cool guy, great rider. Reminds me of an old melbourne messenger named Dan Ash, best courier i ever saw.

What's that thing over the back wheel for? For holding packages?
This dude is awesome.
+Joachim Peiper he'll also be dead soon.
Cambaudio Maybe. Maybe not.
Victor Fath Well, there are goals and things I want do with my life rather than act like a careless Juvenile :)
Dope!
That was quite fkn awesome really guys got great bike skill
how often he needs to change reartire?
+Steve Warris Depends on his weight, how often he skids, and the quality of the tire. Companies like Panasonic make tires reinforced for skidding, like the Soma Super Everwear tire.
ok. i tried the "thick slick" but they doesn´t impress me. so i stick to german tires like schwalbe or continental sportcontact
+Steve Warris try continental gatorskin, supersport plus or vittoria randonneur
I use really cheap tires, have to replace them about in every 3 months
chainring and cog combination of good that's how, so that feels light skid??
thank you
amazing.. im from southamerica, my boyfriend its a fixie rider, greetings, sorry for my english

Great video.
Couldn't of picked a better song.

oh man, this guy rules.

what frame did he use?
Awesome dude! It's always a rush to ride with speed and dodge traffic!
Does anyone know what helmet he's wearing?
51/17 = 3
48/16 = 3
therefore for every full rotation of the cranks the wheels rotate 3 times. starting and stopping at the same points.
therefore either ratio has the same number of skid patches
0:52!!! ohhh shiiiit! ;-) nice riding skills!
Awesome!
what is the brand of his frame
was this beginning footage shot with a VHS GoPro?
what gear ratio is that?
Thanks alot, join on FB if you like -see link above. New Asphalt episodes from NYC coming up soon.
what frame he rides?
what bike is that
He broke his own rules by making that truck driver panic.
Man you are too cool on that fixed wheel. Stay safe bro!!
Am I right that this is a guy who won trackstands in Dublin 2007 Bike Messengers World Championship?
Anyone know what bike he's riding?
isn't there a movie like this coming out?
what is the first song of this video?
What`s the song in the end?
That Rocked!!
@Austin393 wats the song? thanks in advance
This is great!!! Can you remind me who plays the initial song please?
reply 8 years later :) The Wizard from Black Sabbath's debut self-titled album.
Christina for the win! Nice

Great! Welcome to Russia! We don't have bike tracks and we don't have tickets for bikers either! :-)

whats the world championship race he talks about?

Thanks baws!
Great song choice Sabbath kicks so much ass man
*WOW!*
What's the advantage of having no brakes?
less weight
Love the Danish for "worst case scenario" 2:00
