Just for added information Ren Gill is Welsh he's been very ill since he was 19yrs old and no-one knew what was wrong. He was confined to his bed for a long time and taught himself various instruments. He never thought he'd live long enough to see his 30th birthday but thankfully and luckily, he was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease but unfortunately it had been left for so long that it had attacked his brain and destroyed the brain covering. Lyme Disease is quite rare here in the UK so it was missed and he was misdiagnosed with various illnesses from psychosis to bipolar disorder and those wrong medications also made him very ill. He has been having treatment in Canada and he felt better than ever and it was presumed he was cured, but sadly the bacterial infection that sometimes accompanies Lyme Disease is still there and has got worse so he's back to square one. The Slaughter House video is part of the "killing off of Sick Boi" representing a new chapter in his life He produces all his own beats, he's an actor, rapper, beatboxer, storyteller, Bard, plays guitar piano drums (badly he says) his team are his mates and his cinematographer is his best mate Samuel Perry Falvey who has since won awards for his Ren videos. He is independent so no music industry behind him pushing him in directions he doesn't want to go in leaving him free to use his creativity however he wants. You will find that almost every song is entirely different he has no genre

Your mic volume was a bit low (video's volume was fine). It is tough to review certain Ren tracks without knowing his life story, and without having travelled the journey of his back catalogue. Most Renegades will suggest you start with Hi Ren, do the Jenny & Screech trilogy, do Sick Boi. After that there is so much choice - try Genesis, The Hunger, Losing It. Try Diazepam, Chalk Outlines (live version with Chinchilla), How to be Me (live version with Chinchilla). Slaughter House is a symbolic killing of the Sick Boi character in order to allow a rebirth - Slaughter House is the name of his new album which will be released next year. This song is absolutely packed with metaphors: Greek mythology, Bible, literature, cinema, TV & music. You can get quite an education just figuring it all out. Basically, this is Ren closing a chapter of his life.

As others have mentioned, Ren isnt actaully english. He is welsh, as in from the country of Wales, that is in the United Kingdom. He has however lived in The seaside town of Brighton in England for some time, and also lived in Calgary, Canada

If you want to know what you got flat out wrong, hope over to one of the larger more established hip hop/music reactors like, Knox Hill. Vibe Reactions, Ryker Road, Black Pegasus etc. & you'll learn what you've missed out on in this video and this artist. This wasn't the best joint to get introduced to Ren, but then again you did say you've heard Ren's music before. If that's true then I'm surprised how off the mark you are in this reaction. Yeah, this is a song balls deep in Ren lore. You can still enjoy it but even the beat changes are an intentional part of it.
