A lot of people are asking why he broke the tape.
I got 2 ideas:
1. He doesn't want anyone else to know that he's not actually from their family
2. Its a metaphor, breaking the tape shows that none of those memories were supposed to happen or something like that.

Ill say this, even if this was 7 years ago.
I think that he broke the tape because he understands, that even if he isnt the son of his fathers, he loves them.
As the song in the background says "Who we are and who we want to be"
The kid discovered that he isnt who we wants to be, but understands that it doesnt matter. If people learn about the tape, nothing is really gonna happen. Its just gonna hurt everybody, because lets be honest, that guy wasnt gonna be found, and even if he was, who knows what happened to the real kid.
He sees that his life was a lie, but understand that its a lie that everybody enjoys, and that breaking that tape, he can make that lie a reality, atleast for everyone else. He is willing to never tell noone about the tape, so that everyone is happy, and maybe, some day he will forget too, and be happy aswell.

I have three theories
1. The two babies were actually switched at 0:50 and the boy broke the tape to prevent his family from rejecting him (very bland ending)
2. The child in the sandbox at 0:50 and the child at 0:54 are unrelated to the boy who broke the tape this can be explained by our only way of knowing the children in the videos and the children in the present are the same is their blue hat which may I state that I doubt any hat will stay wearable (and the same color even being shown to have stains on it in the scene where he is eating and getting food everywhere and other times when he may have eaten) throughout the years this child was raised however because the sight of a child being kidnapped in front of him got to him just as I am sure got to many of you readers he decides to break the tape and attempt to forget about the terrible event he had just witnessed (happiest ending out of the three of these theories)
3. The sandbox children and the resulting child are unrelated to the boy who breaks the tape because he assumes the worst in that he has stolen the life of an innocent child and decides to break the tape to prevent others from finding out which sentences himself to live a life of needless guilt and horror with no end because he destroyed the only evidence he had that may have let him or others track down this child to prove that he need not fear his past (worst/saddest ending)
It's 1. He has green eyes and blonde hair while neither his mom or father do. Especially when you consider that the dad has brown hair and brown is a dominant allele so there is a really slim chance that is their child.

Everyone is saying this is so weird and sad, but I didn't think of it like that. I mean, the kid knows he shouldn't be in his family, and he could point it out and everyone would realize that those people aren't really his parents and she's not his sister. But he doesn't want it to be like that. He's so in love with his family, he doesn't want them to see him as anyone less than their son. He knows that family isn't about who makes you.
