I call this the blue period. When there is snow, the darkness does not turn black/brown like in autumn or in snowless places, but the snow makes the darkness blue. It makes the darkness less depressing and easier to bear than winters in snowless places down south, in my opinion.

@@olsa76 that's a good word for it, Blue period!
It took a while here before the winter really started. Most of oktober there wasn't any snow. It's so much lighter now there's snow. It really makes a huge difference!

      Top comment.
When the moon is out it is even brighter than the south.

Here you are forced to live with and adapt to the different seasons of the year. We don't decide, just try to act accordingly. That's also for the hobbies, fun and relaxation - there are tons of very cool activities everyone does (only) in winter time. Isn't it OK to be more "inward" during this time of year, to be tired a bit earlier in the day and so on? We actually love the fact that every day is not the same here, or every week, or every month. We try to follow nature and just enjoy... ❤

The below zero temps are easier to live with up here than down here in Stockholm area for example, the higher humidity down here in the winters makes the cold temps feel ...... colder! ;-)

Same what we were used to in the Netherlands! Also high humidity, and its very very windy almost every day! We live here in between mountains and not close to the sea. So not a lot of wind, fairly warm summers and cold winters. But it just doenst feel so cold. We love it!

    Thanks again for sharing.
    Very much appreciated!
-20C indeed is starting to be in that range of “seriously” low temperatures. :)
Great to see you are handling the cold well, and even seem to like it.
Also good to hear it doesn’t seem to be an issue at all to keep your place warm indoors.
I had been vigilant about that issue given that the house you purchased is rather old.
Thanks to your previous videos about your newly installed heating system and the one on the windows I kinda knew already that you’d be ok but it’s good to hear that confirmation :)
The darkness is the other dimension I had been interested in / fascinated by.
It’s one of those things that people warn for. The winter season is still early of course.
But I can also see that in a way the darkness can actually give energy: more opportunity / invitation to rest and not be exposed to so much stimulation.
Personally I can see myself enjoying that. Together, indeed, with the sound dampening effect of the snow which you mention..

I think even though its an old house, I its pretty good insulated. There is some sort of sawdust/woodfilling between all the walls. Our jordvärme system measures the cold outside, and then calculates how warm the radiators must be to get a certain temperature. Right now to get a temperature of arround 19c inside, we put the system on 15 or 16 degrees. So maybe that means the house is really good insulated?
The darkness is very interesting. You are right, it give some sort of rest and peace. We do get tired earlier in the day, but that isnt a bad thing. We just go to bed a little earlier.
Indeed the winter season just begon, but december 21th is the shortest day and from then on, the days get longer again. So in two months, the days are already longer then they are now. Right now it really does not feel like a negative thing. As I said in the video, we like it actually! Really cosy. But who know how it feels after 10 years of living here. I guess we have to find out! :)
