A big "Thank you" from North Carolina....I work for a petroleum company and my work truck is a '21 3500 Duramax utility bed. She's tipping the scales at almost 14k lbs with just my tools. I'm always pulling heavy loads with her. Popped my MAP sensor out and it looked identical to the one you cleaned out on the previous video. I'm pretty excited to run her, come Tues morning 😁
Once it is cleaned properly the little bulb is actually a blue colour. Also it’s best to clean it in the position that it sits in. This helps not to blow crud etc up into the electrical area.
Wow. My truck has 15k miles and I just pulled mine. Full of carbon! Couldn’t even see any blue on the sensor!? Not sure how it wasn’t throwing a code. Clean now! Thank you!
I have a 2023 2500HD as a work rig and truck just hit 5k when the check engine light came on, it's at 7,400 miles when I checked the MAP sensor and sure that did the trick. Thanks fella.!!
Actually helpful information. Not a sales pitch for a sponsor. Thank you. I own 2019 it’s my first diesel. I love it and I will pop the map sensor and take a look. Thanks again.
I have 54,000 miles on my 2017 L5P and I’ve never checked or cleaned my MAP… I am going to pull it out today, I can’t wait. I can’t believe I’ve never seen a video on this before…
Another excellent video Alex. I really like that you offer a solution that just about any owner can do. I’m a Cummins owner, but I’m sure all L5P Duramax owners can benefit from your video. All these modern trucks are excellent machines. Keep up the great work. Merry Christmas!
Thank you! thats the goal, I'd like to branch out to all 3 of the diesel pick up truck brands. starting with the duramax, hopefully these owners find this stuff useful!
Great video. I cleaned my sensor today as you described. Engine immediately threw trouble code #P00EB. I drove the truck for about 10 miles at highway speeds and the trouble code went away. The engine is running much better since!
Thank you for doing this video. I have a 2018 GMC HD with 80,000 Km on it. Until I came across your video, I had no idea that this was a maintenance issue. I pulled my sensor and sure enough it was covered in soot. After cleaning and reinstalling my engine seems to running better. I looked through the GMC Diesel supplement manual and there is nothing in the maintenance guide that suggests that this should be looked at. A big fail by GM if you ask me. Maybe they want this part to fail so you have to come in for an expensive fix. Anyway, 2 thumbs up.👍👍
Cleaned mine but there was no improvement. No start on the first try (2022 2500HD with 62K miles) will crank on the second after some time though. Idle is pretty good but a little high (on hot engine). No power and rough running if I take it out on the road. What do you think it can be?
I have a 2005 lly and got a trans done and headgaskets efi live with the edge insight and the monitors for the turbo vanes and egts. Got the truck back no boost no boost leaks could it possibly be the map sensor making it do that I changed the maf sensor didn’t help
Hey buddy, thank you for the great video. I pulled mine out and it looked just as bad cleaned it and put it back in. I think it’s a great suggestion you made. I’m taking this out and cleaning it at every service.
2022 with 25,000 miles. Living in Alaska and having some idle time I was expecting it to be bad. It wasn't bad at all. I do run fuel additive. Not sure if that helps or not
Have an 07 6.6. So will DPF filter cause the map to clog? Or clog faster? Have the pressure differential code, forgot the # but dealer says dpf filter and system needs cleaning.
So the MAP sensor dirty should cause poor mileage as well right? So if it’s never been cleaned or changed at 200k miles, now would be a good time? I’m still trying to learn how to drive mine for max power and mileage, you can’t hear the engine or exhaust at all so I never know what gear I’m n or how well it’s doing unless I watch the MPg screen. New diesels and all the restrictions on them are terrible. If you use a EDT additive of some kind will it keep the MAP cleaner?
So mine has a weird idle sounds like a mis but not bad and i got a p0612 witch is a ficm code and thats the only codei checked wiring no issues and it drives pretty good down the road could this be my culprit?? Please help!
Any ideas on the p0087 (fuel rail pressure low) code? Dealership replaced the o2 sensor saying that's what it is but it went right back into limp mode. A second mechanic said it needed all new injectors, o2 sensor and Map Sensor.....
GM technical bulletin indicates that a plugged TMAP on the Duramax is nothing to worry about. When you read the forums and see what the TMAP sensors look like in all kinds of L5P engines, it's quite apparent they can be totally plugged and not affect a thing. Hard to believe, but it's pretty much the norm.
GM Bulletin No.: 20-NA-043: Due to the sensitivity of the sensor, Do Not use any chemical cleaners including water and Do Not use compressed air to remove contaminates. Important: If sensor is covered in soot, this should not prevent the sensor from functioning properly and it should not be replaced. Do not attempt to clean soot off the sensor. This could cause damage to the Thermistor
Thank you! My 2021 Duramax had not had any issues but at 80,000km I figured after watching this, I should at least give it a go. There was so much soot accumulated inside that sensor I literally thought there was some kind of material/part inside that I had to work around. $15 at AutoZone for the right spray and a good soaking and everything dissolved away. Fired up and apparently I didn’t break anything. No codes…. Taking her out on the highway tomorrow and I’m guessing my pedal will feel a little more reactive after this! Thanks!
When this sensor plugs up it will not set a MAP sensor code either. It usually causes other codes that can be tricky to diagnose and might lead to misdiagnosis. I always check this sensor first.
My truck is 2018 2500 hd diesel I have 111000 something around there lol I just took mine off cleaned it so they say about 20 miles it should turn off I didn’t want reset the code I wanted to see if it t worked or f it did it should just shut off anyone?
Thanks a lot for the video. My 2020 Duramax to my knowledge has never been looked at in this area. I’m sure it will be very shortly. Quick question about changing oil. My gauge says I’m around 20%. Is it time to change oil?
That's why I did a reroute and now the oil and soot doesn't go back into my engine where it shouldn't be goes into a catch can and in turn I can empty it out however many times I need to a year or whatever
Love the vids man. I'm looking at a 2014 6.6 duramax LTZ. I cannot find a video on it. It has 100k on it and all emissions bull shit intact. Thanks for any advice.
The Gravy diesel mechanic spend no time on heavy diesel internals but instead take featherweight (yet important, MAP sensor cleaning? Just confused, that's all. Maybe it means it's so durable that there's nothing to know from a heavy mech standing
Just did mine at 24k KM and completely caked over with soot. I can’t even imagine what the rest of the engine looks like already…no way in hell are these trucks lasting 200K with this setup. Not even close.
I generally don't think it would be something I'm worried about. those pins from what I'm told are for alignment only, the gears and driven by friction from the correct torque.
Before I saw your video the Chevy dealer put a new MAP sensor in my 2020 Silverado 6.6 Duramax. They also replaced the Mas Air Flow Sensor Part Number 23324767. I would appreciate a video regarding your thoughts on cleaning or replacing that sensor. Thanks
I have a 2010 that is throwing the mass air flow sensor code p101. I replaced it, cleared the code and it's still showing back up. Could this be causing that.
Pulled the sensor on my 2019 with 38K miles and it looked like yours. Cleaned it up and the truck runs much better. Thanks for the tip!

Just bought a 2024 2500 with 13k miles Will have to check it out once it gets delivered.
I have a 2023 2500HD as a work rig and truck just hit 5k when the check engine light came on, it's at 7,400 miles when I checked the MAP sensor and sure that did the trick. Thanks fella.!!
Why code came on it ?
Actually helpful information. Not a sales pitch for a sponsor. Thank you. I own 2019 it’s my first diesel. I love it and I will pop the map sensor and take a look. Thanks again.

YEAH PART 2!! Keep kicking ass and taking names brother! Love the videos! So informative !
Thank you sir! appreciate the support as usual

Big difference after just cleaning mine. Thanks
If you have a diesel truck, get a MAP sensor relocator from BANKS POWER!
It’s good to know this stuff cause I just got myself a 2024 Sierra 2500HD this Thursday.
Cleaned map sensor and then engine reduced power light kicked in. Any ideas
I’m looking for the Barometric pressure sensor I can’t find it anywhere on this same vehicle

Do you need to disconnect battery before cleaning? Thanks

My 2023 has thrown a p0402 code 6 times dealer replaced MAF, EGR, done ecm updates. No resolution any ideas
Can you get a check engine light with this problem ⁉️if so. What that would be ⁉️ thanks
Hey buddy, thank you for the great video. I pulled mine out and it looked just as bad cleaned it and put it back in. I think it’s a great suggestion you made. I’m taking this out and cleaning it at every service.
Engine mine looked like that at 22,800 miles
Can you spray anything in the hole to help clean
Question for you mechanical people do you really need a thermostat changed that's stuck on a Duramax since they stick in the open position? Thanks
Whoa. Just turned 37k miles, definitely gonna have to have a look at this.
Do you have any videos on the cp4 issue on the 2016 LML 2500 duramax 😊
Does check engine light go away on its own or have to manually clear it?
2022 with 25,000 miles. Living in Alaska and having some idle time I was expecting it to be bad. It wasn't bad at all. I do run fuel additive. Not sure if that helps or not

Glad to see your video. Just turn 37k
Really enjoy my 2020 lt still run strong, but I be checking that sensor.
Great info, would it be possible for it to miss read and throw a crank pressure code for a duramax 3.0, currently has 134k but it runs perfectly.
This video was very informative. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE TO FIND THE FUEL TEMP SENSOR ON A 2016 CHEVY 2500 DESIEL??????
Can't wait for the next video. Great review 👏 👌
Thank you sir!
Mac air cleaner my question is, can you use brake clean
Excellent report Alex, really appreciate your expertise.
Thanks James! happy holidays!
Excellent vids. New subscriber….
On my 5th Duramax. (2nd L5P)
Gonna go get some MAP cleaner right away!
Thank you sir! Super easy clean and fix but if you don't check it you could be losing some power.
Update - mine was a mess with 57,500 kms. MAP all clean now. New air filter too just for S&G's!
Can dirty map sensor give you bad fuel mileage just wondering thanks for the videos
This is the problem on the X 15 Cummins too even the ISX I’ve cleaned mine on my big truck😅
What did u use to clean the map sensor?
Any ideas on the p0087 (fuel rail pressure low) code? Dealership replaced the o2 sensor saying that's what it is but it went right back into limp mode. A second mechanic said it needed all new injectors, o2 sensor and Map Sensor.....
Did you get your problem resolved? If so what ended up happening?
Does this apply to the 2024 l5p?
After I cleaned mine on a 21 duramax it sent a code… any ideas
Did you ever hear anything about GM buying back the L5P diesel trucks.
Can anyone tell me why the cool down of the 6.6 turbo does not require a cool down……do we let it run before shut off…..
I hav a 24 6.6
I just cleaned my map censor and it was extremely dirty. Please clean it and it will help.

I change mine every 4 to 5k regardless of what DIC says.
i have a 23 model l5p with 2,230 miles. My check engine light came on and the fan roars when accelerating. Any idea??
What did you find out? Bearings in fan clutch?
That's why I did a reroute and now the oil and soot doesn't go back into my engine where it shouldn't be goes into a catch can and in turn I can empty it out however many times I need to a year or whatever
You are a blessing.
Love the vids man. I'm looking at a 2014 6.6 duramax LTZ. I cannot find a video on it. It has 100k on it and all emissions bull shit intact. Thanks for any advice.
Thanks very much appreciated
would this be a problem for a deleted l5p
If you can delete it. I would highly recommend lol
You delete, dealer won't take on trade in.
Where is the BARO sensor on these trucks?
Following
Clean it once; add the S&B spacer and you're set.
Great video!. Do you recommend the S&B map spacer?
It's pretty much the same spacer from all the companies. But I have heard they last.
Is it necessary to disconnect your battery when removing your map sensor? Did clean mine and now have a check engine light.
$65 put the spacer in today, my map sensor was clogged with 40k miles
Hey Alex, any problems yet with the Power Wagon?
Yes!!!! my winch broke. That video is coming soon!
EGR on a diesel sucks! Deleted my Ecodiesel 150,000 miles ago. Oil stays clean and of course MAP sensor still clean.
Exactly EGR is a killer on modern diesel engines.
You make me clean mine after 120k km it was dirty
TKU sir!
Better check mine it has 103k and never did this since new.
The Gravy diesel mechanic spend no time on heavy diesel internals but instead take featherweight (yet important, MAP sensor cleaning? Just confused, that's all. Maybe it means it's so durable that there's nothing to know from a heavy mech standing
I had mine just as clogged as shown here…at 11k miles!!!

Just did mine at 24k KM and completely caked over with soot. I can’t even imagine what the rest of the engine looks like already…no way in hell are these trucks lasting 200K with this setup. Not even close.

This issue is minor compared to the crankshaft issue shearing pins!!!beware GM owners…2024.duramax
I generally don't think it would be something I'm worried about. those pins from what I'm told are for alignment only, the gears and driven by friction from the correct torque.
🍺🍺🍺🍺
deep dive, huh?
Once again a non issue. L5P owners know
L5P man, not 5lp 😂
We don’t need the intro and all the talking just get to the point
Imagine if he just replaced it instead quick fix it so much more power
Epa nonsense
This guys a tool , its never the map sensor, its never that easy ,1 out of 50 may be a bad sensor
This whole video is how to change one map sensor that sits right on too the engine , dudes a goof ball
Thanks
