- What are the challenges of approaching Innsbruck Airport that's what the Ukrainian aviation blogger Oleksandr Cheban and the video team Denis Yanchukov and Vladimir Klyuev wanted to experience at first hand. Said, done and after all the necessary preparations he took a seat in the cockpit of our Embraer 195. The crew around Austrian Airlines Captain Michael Margreiter told the blogger team what makes the approach to Innsbruck Airport so special, what training our crews undergo and how quickly forecasts for the flight route can often change.

I am a flight attendant for EasyJet and I was based in Luton for one year and a half.
I had INN scheduled twice and I never had the pleasure and the honour to land there because of the bad weather, always diverted to MUN.
Now I'm based in Spain and we don't have any flights for INN but next year I'll go as tourist cos I'm so curious to see the landing..hopefully without any diversion :)
Landing at Innsbruck: the only flight that I've experienced where EVERYONE looks out of the window at the beauty :)
I keep liking again and again landing and departing INN.

Flew with you on the 30th of July this year on an a a320 From Amman to Vienna and then to Stockholm onboard an E195 with the regestration OE-LWA I’ve been dying to know who flew the aircraft that night Landing at Stockholm if you could find out who flew it would be awesome because that was one of the best flights I’ve ever been to// Happy coustomer ❤️🛫
Innsbruck ist echt ein toller Flughafen mit tollem Personal. Die Landung ist echt anspruchsvoll und man sollte ein Bodenannäherungs-Warnsystem haben.
Ich fliege mit Austrian immer Long haul flights. Ist einfach die beste Airline. Ich möchte auch einmal für Austrian fliegen!!🙃

Irgendwie macht‘s mich traurig dieses Video nochmal zu sehen, mit dem Gedanken, dass als ich es das letzte Mal gesehen habe, coronamäßig noch Alles gut war!
Ich hoffe für Austrian Airlines und generell für Alle auf eine Besserung der Situation!
Hoffentlich wird das Reisen bald, ohne schlechtes Gewissen, wieder möglich sein!

INN is one of my favourites. Maybe THE one.
Probably _the_ most famous challenging airport in the flight simulation world. It's super fun, from my experience on my desktop simulator. I can't imagine how thrilling it would be as an actual pilot, especially for the 08 approach (not shown in the video)
I've shot this approach numerous times now in XPlane11, though mostly in smaller bizjets. It's all about the step-downs, and which way you're coming in, and all that, and of course the Dens.Alt. and windage, weather, etc. it's just an extreme place to land and fly. I haven't tried it with that much real-world weather, though I will next time. In a real snowstorm, Innsbruck would be only for the most experienced pilots, that's obvious. But that short, circling approach to 08, is tight, no doubt. I'd love to go there in real life: I've read the food is phenomenal, shopping
also, and the skiing is unreal.
@@thiscorrosion900 The first time I learned about the Innsbruck approach was when I first purchased the PMDG NGX back in 2015. Gosh was I horrible at it, and I didn't try it since. Later on with XP11, I kept trying it over and over, but never really got it perfect. Then I flew there with the FF A320 and somehow nailed the 08 approach on my first attempt, with a good touchdown too. Understanding the charts and watching your instruments is so essential here, and it's so fun too.

very well now, so it's my go-to. Innsbruck actually makes KTEX or Aspen look
almost easy. The only good thing at LOWI
is, that it's not a steep approach: once you're ready and lined up, it's a standard
landing, but in crazy weather or at night,
it must be a nightmare. Is this airport even open most nights? I have no idea. I tried it in FSX early on, in some airliner IFR and I couldn't see anything until final descent into the valley for 08, then I almost managed it, then I crashed. I did fine
getting the plane there, but I overshot
and crashed. Ah well. I"m better at it now!
Is that the one where you circle around a hill? If so, that is so fun as a passenger!
oh man, i thought this was going to be a landing of 08, which happens to be the really challenging one. pitty
Some days ago the pilots of an E195 were not able to land the aircraft in 2 attempts and flew back to Vienna. Cause: Some standard Föhn with crosswind conditions. Poor. As I dont think it was the pilots fault but that flimsy Sambaplane.

Why did they need a follow-me-car. I mean, every pilot did exams etc about this airport so they should know about this taxiway, since there is only one😅
Smaller airports often have mandatory follow me cars for aircraft that are not stationed at the airport. The follow me car costs the airline a fee, and making it mandatory increases the revenue of the airport.
There are no lines to parking positions at Innsbruck Airport, that's why.
Soon they'll have a follow-me bot vehicle, droid, etc., I'm sure.
