Seeing all these Smash reveal trailers made me realize that this series has come a long way from having only 12 fighters to now over 80. And it's insane that Smash Ultimate ended with Sora, a character partially owned by DISNEY, as the final character in the game, but I think it was a good final character that got me excited, even if I've never played a KH game. Better cherish this entire roster, especially the 3rd party ones, because if another Smash Bros games gets revealed in the next 5 years, we'll most likely never see most of them again.
@@Doncut97 I think Maximilian might be discreetly hinting that Sora might not be Ultimate's final fighter implying Nintendo is secretly working on a expanded "definitive" version of the game to be announced sometime in the foreseeable future for either the Switch or their next-gen console (or even both as a cross-gen title!)- whenever that's ready to be revealed...
You know, all the fancy trailers are nice and all, but to me no reveal can compare to seeing the silhouette of Mewtwo appear on the Challenger Approaching screen in Melee. This was still at the height of the original Pokémania wave, and Mewtwo was still considered one of the most powerful Pokémon out there (hyped up even more by the first movie). So when me and my brother saw him appear on screen, we totally freaked out! At that time and place of our childhood, there couldn’t have been a better secret character than that.
Even for another Smash game, there could be other Pokemon could be Echo fighters, when the female(Leaf) could have Charmander, Wartortle and Venasaur. And then, a rival trainer(Blue) have Bulbasaur, Charmeleon and Blastoise. And then, Greninja and Incineroar could be obtained by other Pokemon Trainers from all generations of the series. Even if I watched the heavily edited American version of the first Pokémon movie, I liked Mewtwo, and I mained him (I know Mewtwo's technically an "it", but semantics) even though he was too hard to master in Melee. I really hated when he was excluded from Brawl (on the upside I got my main Wario), so when I watched the announcement for Mewtwo's return for Smash 4 I really lost it. Needless to say, I lost it again when he was the first Pokémon character revealed for Ultimate, and he's easily my secondary fighter.
Can we just talk about the first people who first unlocked Mewtwo? no internet page nor nintendo power magazine to know about it, sees the challenger screen appears and see mewtwo during the countdown
Banjo was my most requested character. However, I gotta go with Sora being the best reveal trailer. *FAQ:* I'm sure some people are gonna have questions about a few things, so I decided to preemptively answer them below! Q: What determined the order of characters shown? A: Sakurai, the Smash series' director, assigned each character with a number that identifies when they joined the roster. I followed this official source strictly, only deferring from it when it came to Echo Fighters, which I placed in their proper chronological spot like with everyone else so nothing's out of order. Q: Why did you use x clip as a character reveal? (And not y?) A: When a character didn't have an official, public reveal trailer, I decided to show a clip of the closest thing they had to one in-game. Q: Where did you find that AWESOME animation at the end with the updated mural? A: I took the final mural and attempted to match it to the original one's "Everyone is here" animation as _close_ as humanely possible. I'm overjoyed with how it turned out!
This is perfectly understandable. I do believe much of the melee newcomers did have reveals before the cinematic and in game content that's more in line with the style of brawl reveals. I think this is in the extra movies section of the GameCube disc itself and uses some beta game asset footage too.
I always thought that the other reason for the number order of characters in the game was to do with the order of which games series came out first. This changes however when the character is not revealed before the game's release or they were released in a later smash bros game, hence why mr game and watch and pac man are much bigger numbers, depsite being the oldest game characters in smash.
I have never had a "I Cant believe they added Them to smash" Moment. Any time a thought of what's possible or not crosses my mind, I remember that Sakurai added Solid Snake as the first 3rd party character. Any videogame character is possible.
Banjo-Kazooie is owned by Microsoft, and is a franchise that is essentially dead. So I was pretty shocked to hear they got into Smash, despite fan support.
@@mariomario761 dissappointing they didn't implement an actual character, his final smash could have been fucking sick, but a mii costume for roughly a buck is more then Waluigi got so I'll take it
Man, that Mega Man trailer still gets me. It's not even that I'm a huge fan of Mega Man or anything, but it was the first Smash reveal that we got that really pushed the hype up to 11. We hadn't ever gotten such a cinematic, epic reveal for a character before, and it really set the tone for future reveals of a similar caliber. To me, that was the day that Smash changed from an awesome fighting game to a _phenomenon_
Sonic was definitely the most surprising at the time, but I lost it seeing K Rool announced. My friends and I dreamt of seeing him in-game ever since Smash Dojo was making brawl announcements
I lost it with Mewtwo's return and Mega Man, Ryu, and Cloud's inclusion in Smash 4; and every previous fighter returning and Ridley, Simon, Richter, K. Rool, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, and Sephiroth's inclusion in Ultimate (also with Sora, after the WTF reaction wore off).
I like how you included 64's and Melee's intros, because they were many's first introductions to the series. I remember Melee's intro started rumors all over the internet that Ridley, Wolf O'Donnell, and Samurai Goroh (all of whom cameo briefly) were "secret/unlockable characters" in the game. I remember being a little disappointed it had Falco instead, (big StarFox64 fan as a kid) but at least it allowed Wolf to get a more different moveset for Brawl & Ultimate. I remember being one of the few whom was already familiar with Mr. Game & Watch, because I played "Game & Watch Gallery 2" on Gameboy before. I remember trying to find Ice Climbers in used game stores, and such too. Finally had to get it via E-Reader on GBA. And falling in love with the game. (After getting used to it's jump physics.) SSB helped get me into many great games I never would of tried otherwise. Starting with Earthbound, and Super Metroid.
The Super Smash Brothers franchise is my favorite in gaming. I know how naive that makes me sound as a gamer in general. But I just wanted to say thank you for the video upload. You did wonderful how you edited it with character reveals.
For those of you wondering, the Brawl characters from Ike to Olimar were officially revealed in order on the Smash Dojo website all the way back in late 2007 and early 2008. Also, the unlockable characters from 64 to Brawl are in the order they're in because they are treated as if you unlock them strictly through playing a certain number of matches in regular Smash mode. And I really appreciate ZoomZike for including the Dark Pit teaser at the end of Palutena's trailer, because I feel like a lot of people forget about that.
Great job with this dude. I have so much memories during my middle school, to highschool, to college and now as an adult working with smash utimate! Smash really became a childhood gaming franchise for many people! From these trailers and reveals, im glad you put the effort of doing this for us smash fans. I hope this aint the last smash game forever but it would be nice to see the roster goes up to 100 characters. Who knows! Sakurai deserves a long rest.
Man. Just seeing all of these once again back to back. This series really was something special. Also, something i love most in some of these trailers is just...seeing characters from different series just...duke it out and hanging out. Also...subspace, and the Palutana, Lucina, and MinMin trailers really just make me wanna see a Smash Tv Show, Anime or Movie.
The Snake reveal set the tone for the rest of the series: Expect the unexpected. But I never did learn to expect the unexpected, Sakurai always found a way to surprise us again. Sonic wasn't really that surprising to me, because I just assumed it would happen after we got Snake. (Although from what I've read, it almost DIDN'T happen, which is why Sonic only shows up at the very end of Adventure mode). But... Mega Man? Pac-Man? DUCK HUNT? BAYONETTA?! BANJO & KAZOOIE!? Minecraft Steve (He didn't excite me as much, but he was damn sure a surprise)!? And now finally... Sora. The character that I thought had the longest shot to get in because Disney and yet... they found a way to make it happen.
Been playing Smash since the N64 days. There are so many memories flooding through my head as I watch these. But there was also something else that I remembered as I watched this; Sakurai’s humor. Every single smash game had 1 “who asked for this” character; aka the WTF character. N64: Jigglypuff Melee: Mr. Game&Watch Brawl: R.O.B Sm4sh: Wii Fit Trainer And finally, Ultimate: Piranha Plant Seriously, the man was hilarious.
Amazingly Every Super Smash Bros. Character Reveal Since the Beginning (Includes DLC and Sora) is nice. Everyone Is Here! Thank you, Sakurai and we will never forget.

Man… Brawl’s roster seems so weak now. It was my first Smash, and I was too young to understand the weight of Sonic and Snake’s inclusion. But I have so many memories of what we had back then, and the story mode, though a pain in the rear for my inexperienced self, there was something so special about it that especially rings true now. Sm4sh, in hindsight, feels like a proto-Ultimate based on the newcomers. I remember that the first reveal that truly hyped me up was PAC-Man. I didn’t think it was possible from a moveset standpoint, but it blew me away. When the DLC ended, I couldn’t help wondering what could possibly be next. Welp, 2016 me would be in for a shock. I was FLOORED by Ultimate’s reveal, and kept up with the whole thing ever since. Ridley? Awesome. Steve? Never thought I’d see the day. Sora? Seriously, HOW DID THEY DO IT?? It was a wild ride till the end. It’s gonna be painful knowing that any future games will never reach Ultimate’s scale, or if there even will be any more. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Back in 2008 I’ve always seen the Brawl roster as a huge list of characters. It’s crazy to think that 40+ fighters feel like very little in 2021 when you put it next to Ultimate or even Smash 4.
@@CR_250 Brawl actually introduced many characters I wanted sense the N64 & Melee days. Like Kid Icarus, (because his trophy/game looked cool, but sadly I didn't play it yet) Meta Knight, (yes, I'm a Kirby fan who remembered him, and loved his trophy) Wario, and being a StarFox64 fan, I wanted Star Wolf too. (He actually cameos in Melee's intro starting rumors he was in Melee. Sadly, he didn't even get a trophy, aside from his ship.) So Brawl was pretty cool for me back then, despite the tripping, and difficult online players.
It's amazing to me how much more content smash ultimate had over all the other smash games. It's insane. I mean ultimate takes up an entire half of this video all on its own.
I grew up with smash 64. It was one of the first n64 games I’ve ever had and this series holds a deep, dear place in my heart. Melee was my first GameCube game, brawl was my most highly anticipated. I unfortunately never bought a Wii U so I never owned smash 4, either on 3ds. But when ultimate was released, I made that my first switch game. The roster, stages, items, music, AUTHENTICITY and integrity each of these games had for every asset is incomprehensible. Even though I was never a ‘competent’ smash player, even by some casual standards, this series has shaped me and so many many other people worldwide.
Man, as a kid who'd just finished Metal Gear Solid 2, seeing Snake in Brawl made me go wild. Man, as an adult who's been a fan of Kingdom Hearts since he was a kid, seein Sora in Ultimate made me go wild.
The Sora reveal is honestly one of the greatest in my eyes. From the last remaining flame reviving Mario, to him just straight up yeeting it and having it be revealed as the Keyblade, to Sora's mere entrance into the world of Smash reviving all the fighters from what might as well be their deaths, to the GODDAMN HANDSHAKE that brings back memories of the Ryu/Cyclops handshake of X-Men vs Street Fighter...it's just wonderful. Unless they pull a MK8 Deluxe on us and we just get Smash Ultimate Deluxe on the next Nintendo console 😂
And they wouldn't dare let their big money cow go to waste. With or without Sakurai...
I don't know. This game has made so much money for everyone that I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was on board for the next game.

Mewtwo is still considered strong.
Okay well in comparison to Zacian I guess not but my point stands.
@@eduardogomez4275 Mewtwo's first movie was way better.
Can we just talk about the first people who first unlocked Mewtwo? no internet page nor nintendo power magazine to know about it, sees the challenger screen appears and see mewtwo during the countdown
Banjo was my most requested character. However, I gotta go with Sora being the best reveal trailer. It just felt so magical and them saying he’s finally here perfectly sums up his fans who have been waiting for his inclusion as well as the development team’s thoughts on finally getting Disney and square to play nice and let him join. Also that music is just pure magic.

*FAQ:*
I'm sure some people are gonna have questions about a few things, so I decided to preemptively answer them below!
(And not y?)
A: When a character didn't have an official, public reveal trailer, I decided to show a clip of the closest thing they had to one in-game.
Q: Where did you find that AWESOME animation at the end with the updated mural?
A: I took the final mural and attempted to match it to the original one's "Everyone is here" animation as _close_ as humanely possible. I'm overjoyed with how it turned out!
Awesome
EVERYONE IS HERE!
except Waluigi :(
This is perfectly understandable. I do believe much of the melee newcomers did have reveals before the cinematic and in game content that's more in line with the style of brawl reveals. I think this is in the extra movies section of the GameCube disc itself and uses some beta game asset footage too.
Love the thumbnail!
Iwata-san. Rest in Peace. Sakurai and his team did it.

Then your moment was when they announced Snake, haha.
"Any videogame character is possible."

SSBU's "Everyone is here" trailer really got close to this though
(After getting used to it's jump physics.)
SSB helped get me into many great games I never would of tried otherwise. Starting with Earthbound, and Super Metroid.
It's great to have all of these in one place. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

Yes I’m late, I only just bought smash
Yes we hope so

Of all of these Joker surprised me the most.
Joker and Cloud were some of the biggest surprises among all of these reveals.

Likewise, been there since Brawl and because I heard Sonic was in it, that was enough for me
Back in 2008 I’ve always seen the Brawl roster as a huge list of characters. It’s crazy to think that 40+ fighters feel like very little in 2021 when you put it next to Ultimate or even Smash 4.
@@CR_250 I know huh crazy
@@CR_250 Brawl actually introduced many characters I wanted sense the N64 & Melee days. Like Kid Icarus, (because his trophy/game looked cool, but sadly I didn't play it yet) Meta Knight, (yes, I'm a Kirby fan who remembered him, and loved his trophy) Wario, and being a StarFox64 fan, I wanted Star Wolf too. (He actually cameos in Melee's intro starting rumors he was in Melee. Sadly, he didn't even get a trophy, aside from his ship.)
So Brawl was pretty cool for me back then, despite the tripping, and difficult online players.
Steve’s reveal doesn’t feel the same without the screams of TH-camrs reacting to it
Neither does sephiroths reveal
Many reacted the same even over niche characters. I remember some cheered when even Pichu came back in Ultimate.
It's probably for the best you didn't own Smash 4. It was... apparently a very odd and un-iconic game
64 was a legendary beginning, Melee was godly in it's inclusion and gameplay, Brawl was dope upgrade and had by far the best adventure mode

Man, as an adult who's been a fan of Kingdom Hearts since he was a kid, seein Sora in Ultimate made me go wild.
If I hadn't had my tonsils removed around that time, id have been screaming at the top of my lungs
You know as much as I like sonic, snake had a much bigger impact in the sense that any character can get in since he was the first one to be announced before sonic, but I still can't believe that sora got announced and he is the last character he's been a character that I've wanted for awhile and when we got him it made me feel happy but bitter and I say that because he's the final dlc and a important one at most
Bless you, for making this. (:
I still can't believe this was Samus' first time in 3D. She still looks cool!
Now this is the true smash character reveal history. Some of the other videos I've seen miss so many of them. If I had to pick a favourite reveal, it would have to be Sephiroth. I remember one time before the reveal searching up who Cloud's villain was (I was alive after FF7 came out), and when I saw who it was, I thought he was gonna be so broken with the long sword. Low and behold, he gets revealed and is easily a high tier character, crazy right?
I like how melee says "directly from Fire Emblem" when you unlock Marth and Roy. Like anyone outside Japan knew what Fire Emblem was back then.
Sonic being added to smash will forever be the greatest moment in smash reveal in history. Over snake, Mega man, cloud, Ryu, and even Sora.
