Although it can be used as a mating call, that's not all that it's used for. I've owned a female dove for 14 years (shes about 17 now), and she laughs when shes annoyed or when another animal approaches her territory. By the look of this dove- with the way he's pacing- he's probly annoyed or distressed by something.
That's not completely true. My dove paces like that when she's on her cage floor. When she sees me she gets excited, paces, jumps, then sings. She thinks I'm her mate, so no distress.
such a beautiful bird! I have an Albino Ringneck (cleverly named LadyBird). She laughs kinda like that. Doves are so beautiful. That laugh gets me everytime!!! Keep posting more vids, I can't wait to see the next one!
Yea, I loved him so. His favourite was cheese or cooked rice, though this was an occasionall treat, and not an all the time one. His most favourite food to eat were safflower seeds. He gobbled those up , and only those, whenever I fed him. He also loved sunflower seeds. I still feed my doves these seeds, and they love them.
@NiniChan20 Good point. Calling birds assholes because they're birds and make noise? That comes naturally for them. Definitely give the bird(s) to a home that loves it.
I feel so immature- here’s this really cute dove, and all I can think is that the end of it sounds like he’s farting. Repeatedly. And I’ve watch it two times. DX XD
oh, i miss this sound so much! i used to own three! the first time i heard them laugh, scared the HELL out of me! i didn't know they did that. first thing i thought of were trolls in my room!!!! LOL! lovely lovely birds, though. thanks 4 posting.
wow that has to be the funniest thing I ever heard, lol wonder when my dove will start doing that, she's still getting used to our home, but she started cooing recently. XD
Watching this made my sad.. Mine did this, to the mirror, and to me too sometimes, then he started his bowing cooing ..his name was Willy, hes passed away now, he got killed. ._. Hes so cute..I hope he lives for as long as they can live! Mine was at least 16+ years, Im sure yours will live ever so much longer.
it depends on the specie... for ringneck doves, the only trick I've learned so far is the paw's color --> pale pink is female, darker pink (almost dark red) is male ^^
lol I have 2 ring neck doves, so i was walking by their cage and I slipped on air (u know how that is) and i fell, and my male bird started laughing at me T^T
No, it's more likely this is a Ringneck Dove, which is a domestic species. Blonde color. Eurasian Collared Doves have been mixed into them to add more color mutations to both species.
Yeah, I meant Eurasian Ringneck Dove. I've seen them all over Europe, here in the UK I've seen a few but I've seen loads in the Canary Islands that look just like this.
I've fed my dove wild dove seed from the pet store. I've had her for 12 years now. They also like greens. Go online to some dove care sites and get a list of the things that will be good for your bird!
There's only one way : blood test at the vet. Since the testicules are inside of the dove's body, it's impossible just by touching to tell if it's male or female. If you don't want to go to a vet for blood test, you just have to suppose it's sex either if it lays eggs or not (still, there are some females that could lay eggs after 2 or 3 years of life, even older. so it's hard to be a 100% sure without the test) :)
This is the Eurasian Collared Dove that you get all over Europe and parts of western Asia. It looks similar the the African Collared Dove (aka Cape Turtle Dove) except the African Collared Dove has completely black eyes.
Hi, I have yet to try pure safflower seeds but I will now. I know when I put in new food he/she not sure what it is LOL goes for something in there, I have tried sunflower, but now reading this I will try the safflower seeds.. thanks!!! Sweety Dove is about 6 years old? I think.. pure white.. so cute
oh wow, I have heard doves can live up to 20 years, you had yours a very long time what a great parent you are!! What was his favorite treat? Mine loves the sprigs of seed.. cant get her to eat anything but that and seed, what else did yours eat over the past 16 years?
Oh wow, I wrote this 15 years ago? Sweetie Dove is still alive, will be 23 yrs old this Feb 2023. Sweetie Dove will now eat butter lettuce daily, think its keeping my sweet dove hydrated. Thinking Sweetie is having hard time going to the cage bottom to eat, they love to eat off a shallow bowl on the bottom, but past few months I give daily millet sprays and butter lettuce along with a cup of seeds. I now thing sweetie is a boy. Still have not clue since he is pure white. Found at a funeral grave side service. 5 let go, one couldn't fly. TOO YOUNG my daughter now 31 was 7-8 yrs old wouldn't let anyone leave with out him.
Well I got used to him! Haha! But when I bought him, the merchant said that he is a "Very Happy In Life Bird" ;) See what he meant? Always laughing and jumping lolll He's just too cute! I prefer him to a dog seriously :)
Sorry to go against your attempt to make me feel stupid, but I am actually awared of that lol I meant the way that he laughs ^^; The others sounds like weird, and their laughs are slower, his laugh DOES sound like someone giggling. I didn't know ppl would make such a big deal with comments on a bird's laugh that's kinda funny, in a way lol ^^
my dad had two of these doves. It was funny to watch people's expressions when they heard them laugh for the first time.
I have a ringneck doves that laugh all week in a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....
Me too . Ive got one shes about 13 years old
@@stevendee2831 Is she still alive?
A laughter with a weird voice ending with a fart
Elke Johanna LMAO
Haha well said.
That’s what I was thinking 😂🤣
This is fake yet funny
That wasn't a fart Is just when The dove breathes in
😂
i have doves and they always laugh when something funny happens
My Mom owned one of these when I was growing up and Everytime I'd cry about something. The bird would make this noise.
"Hahahahaha I enjoy your suffering"
„lol cry kid”
I was choking on a meatball once and my two doves laughed at me. MZy brother happened to walk in.
CANT. STOP. LAUGHING!!
When it jumps, it will laugh
And farts from laughing

My dove Panchito laughs but he laughs differently but he makes the same lil noise at the end.

What a cute dove his laugh is so funny 0:08 he she if it's female dove farted

Y'sure ya didn't feed that bird some POPPY seeds? LOL!
Someone's got to edit together a stream of this (and other) doves, laughing continuously!
aww soo cute! i want one so my parakeet can have another friend to talk to besides my canary.
I feel so immature- here’s this really cute dove, and all I can think is that the end of it sounds like he’s farting. Repeatedly. And I’ve watch it two times. DX XD
It sounds like the Joker.

It's more likely that they just sound like a lough to us. It's not like they're actually laughin I'd think.
although this would be awesome to hear during the daytime, i would have nightmares if i woke up to that from a dead sleep! lolz!
that is so cute my Dove do the same thing
lmao thats soo cute and kinda creepa at the same time...
I had several of them. Sweet things

Ummm, wrooong! Females can laugh, bow and coo too. I work in an clinic for exautic animals, and technicians agree on that : they do too ;)
Very nice!
My dove does this.
I have a pair as well! Except they don't coo in front of me, only to each other. (And to their mirror images :o)
No, it's more likely this is a Ringneck Dove, which is a domestic species. Blonde color. Eurasian Collared Doves have been mixed into them to add more color mutations to both species.
when a dove makes a laughing sound like that that means they are angry I would know because I have doves of my own
birds are my favorite types of pet and dogs
Hahaah OMG it actually sounds like it's laughing!!
Whats so funny LOL
Oh, and mine usually follows the "heeheeheehee" with some "hoohoohoo" sounds, but this dove doesn't seem to...
nope he IS laughing like that XD and he is unique! He's the best :)
You should give your dove to a loving family and buy yourself a goldfish, they don't make any noise.... they would fit you more O_o
yup, exactly :) (Thought of Kadaj first, but he was too... umm... joyful to have such a name :) Yazoo sounds more like it ;)
@alliby
actually, its more like a greeting call... they do it when landing and when seeing something new
0:18 : Very nice !

I named him after a character of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children ;)
The sounded bit creepy though
00:07 very nice^^

The social call of the Eurasian dove is actually a "hawww haawww" squawk, while the social call of the domestic dove and African dove is that laugh.
Yazoo, you mean from the guy from FF7 advent children, what a cool name for a dove XD.
Can't be in heat, he's DNA tested and it's a male ^^;; It's a love parade ;)
i have 4 doves two budgies 2 dogs

strut, strut, strut, HOP, VOOVOOVOOOVOOOVOOO
dats kinda scary ;_; i would be freaked if one was in my room and started laughing >.
my dove started laughing when it heard it!
It wants to mate with another dove. They also flutter their wings and sit with their heads down and their bottoms right up
your dove laughs allot deeper and faster than my dove.
My sister have two of these birds and they won't stop it. It's creepy
So it's a mating call? lol my cousins dove did that and we got scared we were like whoa wtf creepyyy. Now I know :)
actually they all coo but only boys bow-coo

I had a dove 🕊 that live 26 years. He died in a flood in my father's house 🏠. The flood occurred during the night and the water covered his cage.

Hi
Mine sounds almost just like this, except but her voice is slightly different.

Well I got used to him! Haha! But when I bought him, the merchant said that he is a "Very Happy In Life Bird" ;) See what he meant? Always laughing and jumping lolll He's just too cute! I prefer him to a dog seriously :)
Cute
@bryan0102 You don't "train" a dove, I didn't teach Yazoo anything, he's just acting like a dove, that's all. He's a bird, so he DOES fly around, duh!
@alliby Whatever you wish to call it, it is what it is
When I saw the thumbnail for this, at first glance it looked like a steak on a grill...
Sure ^^ That's where I got Yazoo ^^
Aww
lol you're funny
Haha yean it just came out when I bought him, so it was obvious I was going to call him like this :o)
😍😍😍😘
