I had a previous comment on this video saying that I have too many Doves in my enclosure. To those who might think this: How can you tell? Second my enclosure is over 8 feet high and I ship Doves out every week. This specific Aviary (yes we have others) has fluctuating numbers every week. With that being said any opinion of this sort is not based on actual facts. Thank you everyone for stopping by our channel!

Barbary Doves (Streptopelia Risoria) AKA Ring Neck Doves. This is a beautiful dove and is the domesticated form of the African Cape Turtle/Collared Dove (the African sub-species of the Eurasian Collared Dove). If they escape. these will readily interbreed with the Globally widespread Eurasian Collared Doves.

This is a Ringneck Dove in the Wild color. This is not a Eurasian Collard Dove. Those are much larger.

See my comments above, the Collared Dove is the WILD Eur-Asian 'type' species of these birds. These are slightly smaller 'Barbary Doves' / RingNeck Doves and decsended from the African Cape Collared Turtle Dove. Eurasian Collared doves are slightly larger, have a different coo (3 syllable: coo, coo, coo) have a longer tail. Coll Dove tail feathers have a different black/white barring & central black 'spike' pattern. But these 2 species can interbreed, with 100% fertile male youngsters and approx 50% fertile female youngsters (in the F1 generation).
I have worked with these species for several years as part of my research of certain 'streptopelia' species (genus of Turtle Dove species), Rob .

No not a Wild dove, a Wild color. This bird is a pet dove and is not found in the wild at all.

@@majesticdovesaviaryllc1107 Is that good for them (like is it meant to be a normal food or a treat)? o.0 I have a pigeon myself, he's a rescue and I'm always looking for new treats for him! Your birds are very beautiful btw!

@@Spaghettibox42 It's meant to be a nutritious treat. Feed it to your bird a few times a week. No more than 1/2 a cup. Great source of calcium.

@@majesticdovesaviaryllc1107 Thank you kindly! I will try this for my lil pigeon man! If it's ok to ask, is there any other lil snackies I can give my lil man? I'm not uhhh... well versed to in taking care of doves, I adopted him from a sick family member.. I'd like to give him a nice life!

@Anuhart Ground up unsalted nuts (all kinds), rolled oats, herbs like oregano, parsley, cilantro (dry or fresh.) Oregano from your spice rack works fine. Spinach leaves clipped to his enclosure with clothes line clips. Scrambled eggs. There is a list of food they can eat on an Avian vet website. This is where I got my information.
