especially for me, i have autism with bad issues from it, ME2 and ME3 grissom hit so close to home i was ugly crying... ME2 overlord dlc that ending ive never wanted to gut someone more in my life then his brother. because i have been taken advantage of because of some of my ignorance, on not picking up on some social things and that rang home so bad i genuinely was so angry i was shaking.. i mean thats the upside of having it i get "over immersed" into some game and ME was 1000%.
Fun fact: if you bring EDI and someone else (not Garrus) to the school and meet up with Jack, she will immediately recognize her and say "hey EDI, I see you went from a sex toy to a sex bot".
Opening the map while in hub areas (such as the Normandy) saves a lot of headache and running around since it shows all the interactable NPC's locations (they sometimes wander around after specific missions). This is the single biggest quality of life feature in the game. I see too many youtubers missing crucial dialogues because of being unaware of this feature.
I played me3 so many times and I've never seen Javik go "explore the ship"! This game keeps on surprising. The courtyard fight was sooo crazy with all the charging around! Wild!
Just FYI... powers in ME3 are significantly buffed vs. ME2. I am playing thru ME3 right now as a Sentinel and the majority of my kills come from Warp and Overload - so much so that I rarely have to use my gun. I cut this comment way down to minimize the chances of spoiling anything.
Sentinel is the most overpowered Class for Shepard to beat Insanity-Difficulty. Engineer can do even more damage theoretically, but is a glasscanon. Infiltrator is another great pick but requires more skill.
Glad to see you survived one of the hardest missions of ME3! xD Seriously, Grissom Academy is pretty fun, but it’s also one of the pretty tough missions to get through considering that Cerberus threw everything at you all at once, especially in the dreaded Orion Hall section, not to mention that it’s still very early into the game and you don’t have the best abilities and equipment to make you unstoppable yet. Seeing Jack, Kahlee, and David all there make them all worth it, though. Great job!

Dude, this part of Grissom Academy where you kept dying was the toughest part for me on my insanity run. It's CRAZY. Enemies coming from ALL sides, some with shields, some deploying turrets, others throwing grenades and smokes. Not to mention the giant mech shooting rockets at you. Weird difficulty spike. Next time I'll try going there later in the game, if possible.
You do want to get the upgrades to medi-gel capacity and more importantly USE your medi-gel when your health is down to just one bar. It isn't just exclusively for bringing fallen squadmates back into the fight like it was in ME2. You could also try using Nova in combination with Charge more often. Charge automatically recharges your shields and the strength of your Nova is based on how strong your shields are (and fully depletes them when used). When you're using them in synergy, a Vanguard Shepard can become essentially a bouncing ball of death with a shotgun or pistol shot thrown in once in a while.

Oh that open area Grissom academy fight can be so brutal until you work out that you need to go through the enemy spawn point on the bottom level to get to the other side of the area.

Grissom Academy was a nightmare for me combat-wise but it's one of my fave side-quests. I love seeing Kahlee's cameo, seeing David doing well and... What can I say about Jack? Absolutely love seeing what they did with her character ❤
That large hall (I like to call it "the killzone") is one of my favourite, most intense memories of playing ME3. There is zero margin for error on Insanity difficulty and between the mech, the turrets and the grunt troop there were some . . . tense moments! I always forbid squadmates using their powers until I direct them to do so: that way I can combining Liara's Singularity with EDI's fire effect - dear Lord in heaven!
If you romanced Jack as male Shepard (or FemShep with mods) there'd be a lot more PDA involved. Also, what she says to Garrus if you romanced him is hilarious.
All three books Revelation, Ascension and Retribution are great! Kahlee Sanders is a great protagonist in the books. I love Mass Effect and the lore. Been a fan since I first played Mass Effect on Xbox 360 back in 2007. It’s an amazing gaming experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Are you going to play Mass Effect Andromeda when you finished the trilogy? It got a lot of hate when it released but I highly recommend it, it’s very underrated imo
I'm v excited to read the other two books as well. Will defo give Andromeda a go, I don't think I will play it straight after ME3 but defo later this year at some point.
The reunion with Jack does have two alternate unique pieces of dialogue, which can only be triggered if she's in relationship with MaleShep, or if FemShep is in a relationship with Garrus (most of the game dialogues changes for them).
You commented on the music when talking to David. I guess you remember that was the music that played in the closing section of the Overlord DLC in Mass Effect 2? Jacks dialogue really is hilarious. One thing, one of her trainees shouts as a joke "I will destroy you", you might remember if you met random biotics who were your enemy in Mass Effect 1, that they would shout that, it would also be used by Jack in combat in Mass Effect 2. You picked up the Mattock in Grissom Academy, in the room David directed you to. I always had a soft spot for that weapon. Its slower firing than most Assault Rifles but more powerful per shot. If you know guns at all...think of comparing it in power between an M-14 and an M-16.
Grissom Academy is one of the best missions in the early part of the game, and would be even without the reunions with David and Jack. They just put several extra layers of icing on the cake! But yeah... that fight in the atrium is tough. Don't feel too bad about dying so many times in that part. We've all been there!
It was a really good one! I love the story of this game mainly but it’s nice when they sometimes throw in a really challenging combat, forces you to learn a bit more about your weapons and powers. So fun!
So yeah, Grissom Academy. It's hard. Especially the atrium section. Especially on insanity. No matter what difficulty it forces you to really learn your playstyle and strategize. Because things will get as hard or harder than that. You learning the charge > nova > shotgun technique over the course of the mission is what the devs strive for. And from this you can consider the gun weight options. You can do that combo more the less your total weapon weight is. Up to you how much you balance abilities and shooting. I remember playing as an infiltrator focusing on heavy sniper and assault rifles and just using my cloak. Then another playthru as an adept with just a pistol spamming biotic attacks nonstop. ME3 gives you a lot of creative freedom in playstyle. I hope you grow to love Vanguard more and more as you go. It was my second trilogy playthru build as a renegade femshep.
If you haven't already, you can put weapon upgrades on your guns by using the weapon bench down in the shuttle bay (there are sometimes weapon benches in levels too). These weapon upgrades (they include stuff like different scopes or barrels) help give you an edge in combat, as they alter your weapon stats.
1 sidequest down, many left to go (though to be fair most are super quick, it take an hour to do most of them combined, but i suggest to do all of them before endgame). 16:18 dont worry about attracting reaper attention because you can always dip out of the solar system and go back in (if you can do that (you will know by the color of the outside ring being green, if red, it means no other solar system to visit and most likely no reapers will show up)
You might want to prioritize all the side missions when they pop up. If you wait too long you will miss them. Most side mission fleshes out the missing context of the war. The N7 missions too, they have short time period.
46:45 yes, Charge and nova basically work together, Nova to sacrifaice all barrier to do massive AoE damage and Charge to go and Replenish your barriers but keep doing what you where doing with Charge and Nova. But keep using them and you should be a deadly force to reckon with. 1:12:29 yeah so your companions will move around the Normandy every now and then, depending where you are in the story, so keep a look out
Not sure how far along you are but it needs to be said that in Mass Effect 3 uses stats unlike the last game. Your armor is divided into pieces, and can be changed at the terminal next to Cortez in the Shuttle bay. The armor can be customized on each part of the body trailered to your preferred play style. The armor you have on right now in this video only improves health and nothing else Weapons can be upgraded to be lighter so it doesn't hurt your carry weight as bad, improving biotic power recharge. I know you hate menus but it's important to go through them since stats plays a huge role in this game
Never the books but maybe I should. I have seen Mass Effect Paragon Lost which was ok. Taking Javik and Edi on certain missions will give you some new dialogue. You need to buy better weapons or use the better guns you find during missions. It helps to use your squad to take out enemies too.
Shotguns are the heaviest weapons in game, if you do plan on swapping to other weapons and not being too heavy you might have to swap out the shotgun, there are alot of very powerful guns you can buy in this one
Be a bit more thoughtful? Nah, the chaotic bouncing around with charge and shotgun is how you vanguard. But be careful with Nova, since it deletes your shields so leaves you vulnerable, better to charge, shotgun, charge, shot gun rinse and repeat if you have people and turrets attacking from all over the place. Nova if there is an isolated group of enemies.
Not a story spoiler but just a strategy for dealing with those bloody turrets. Overload. You gave to Garus and EDI, but never used it. Forgivable and I could understand why you maybe didn't want want to check your twitch chat out of fear of story spoilers. Twitch is notorious for that

Cannot overstate how much i hate the combat sections of this mission... Endlessly respawning enemies all around you is incredibly obnoxious, and the fact that the cerberus shield troops guys that drop the turrets were designed by a sadist to begin with certainly doesnt help.

the grissom acadamy combat in the courtyard is pretty tough. nice work. also the backward roly poly up stairs is peak athleticism.

I've always thought had Shepard not arrived here, Jack would've ended up dead. She was tired already, that's why she didn't attack the mech
