"Someone else might have gotten it wrong" and the song get all the attention, but there's a moment in between that I think is the most emotional. On the way up in the elevator, he takes a deep breath, and says, nothing at all. After 2 games of him thinking and speaking at a thousand miles an hour, they give us this one moment of him quiet, at peace. There's nothing left to discover or calculate or anticipate. For any other character that moment would still be effective, but for him it's devastating.
The whole genophage arc is the best across the trilogy in my opinion. From Wrex to Mordin to Maelon to Eve to the cure has some wonderful writing and great performances from the voice actors.
You get the warm and fuzzies from taking the paragon path, but if you took the full renegade path, which included killing Wrex on Virmire, this story is even more satisfying.

There is one piece of line delivery if you stick to a Renegade path and hide the truth of the sabotage, which yields Shepard pressing Mordin to explain why he changed his mind - pressing him until he breaks. I've never played that scene, as I'm always a sickeningly consistent goody two-shoes in MASS EFFECT but watched it on another reactor's channel. Whoever voiced him NAILED that performance. Nailed it hard. Brilliant stuff . . .
This game made us feel things. Now, many years later, I still remember it with fondness. It feels like we all lived through it... Like a shared life experience.
I didn't make it even a quarter of the way through the video before giving it a like. Your playthrough is genuinely wonderful to watch. It takes me back to how I felt when I played this for the first time.

I think deep down, Mordin wanted to die for the Krogan. If you do the renegade dialogue, he makes his first complete sentence "I made a mistake!" Everything to him was numbers, statistics and variables. Now that he saw the true backlash of his work, he spent all that time ripping himself up on the inside for the part he played. This was his atonement, this was his redemption, to fix what he helped break. He gave his life happily to give the Krogan a future
To answer your question on the Drell: a resource crisis, overpopulation (11 billion) and a worldwide civil war ravaged Rakhana, the Drell homeworld, turning it into a decivilized hellhole not unlike Tuchunka. The Hanar managed to rescue some Drell (a few hundred thousand if I remember correctly) but the Drell civilization never became a spacefaring civilization and is more or less done for. The ones that were rescued by the Hanar mostly stay on Kahje, the Hanar homeworld, which is also where Thane grew up. They are more or less part of Hanar society and if the Hanar go extinct, so will the Drell most likely. Also ties into Kepral's syndrome (which Thane has) as Rakhana is a dry desert planet and Kahje is an extremely humid water world and isn't the healthiest environment for a Drell to live (Though most Drell live in a special, climate controlled dome city).
The whole scene with Eve at the Hollows is just perfect. Her voice actress was definitely the right choice. Girl, if you get...embarrassed about Wrex's talking about Krogan reproduction, just wait for the Citadel DLC lol I love the Reaper's "battle blare" before engaging the Maw. He's terrified that he's about to die and he's singing to try and calm his nerves. "A Future for the Krogan" is definitely a top 10 game OST of all time.

A suggestion for your Vanguard build, you can become incredibly powerful by leaning on powers rather than weapons, particularly if you use the nova that only burns half your barrier (you refill barrier every charge, get 2 novas, then can charge again). Use pistol/SMG only to save on weight (lightweight, faster power recharge). Frost ammo - Group buff, use on your pistol, then put the pistol away, your squad mates will now spam frost ammo Fire ammo - No group buff, go AOE, use on a SMG (Blood Pack Punisher), you get tech explosions on enemies your squad freezes All weaps need power amplifiers, SMG uses stabiliser because the last shot of the clip does a huge armour piercing shot. Build your armour set around power dmg + and cooldown +. Blood Dragon (DLC or you can buy from Omega) is pretty much the best power vanguard armour. I've used this build on multiple Insanity runs and apart from the odd boss encounter or getting stunned by ranged weapons, it pretty much slaughters everything.
Mass Effect 3 has the best missions. They went all in on this mission, there's more ways to get Mordin to cure the genophage and he can actually survive.... but Wrex needs to do die in Mass Effect 1
My 'favorite' thing to tell people who play this game for the first time: Bioware are evil masochists, you only get Mordin's song if you got his loyalty and completed *all* of his Normandy conversations in ME2. In other words, they give you the hardest hitting version of his final scene only if you befriended him. Edit: Carnage aka "What if a bullet was also a Grenade." Mordin may have called her Eve but... technically she is a Shaman. *And* Krogan Shamans forsake their names to symbolize the fact that they exist fully for the benefit of the Clan (and by extension the Krogan as the clan believes them to be). Edit 2: Graal Spike Thrower is my favorite Shotgun. Good Damage and when charged it pierces physical shields (and other small obstacles) like the ones those Cerberus guys carry. Edit 3: Piece of advice, generally if a health bar is any color other than *red* do not use Charge or Nova on it... honestly all of the Vanguard's biotics are mediocre against anything other than health.

i get your feelings about Sidequests being fetch quests, but hey, at least most of them are pretty fast, like really fast, well so long as you don't let them stack anyways, but most do give you a lot of credits, which is good if you want more wiggle room to experiment on what weapons to use and what upgrades to get.
To get the support of both the Salarians and Krogan you have to not cure the genophage but let the Krogan believe you have. That way means you can also save Mordin.
Game sneakily prepared/warned you for Mordin with Grunt's supposed death, whether it actually happened or not. Nice that you thought same with Liara being with Javik. Prothean dna certainly would continue with Asari and the physic ability certainly would be passed on.
There goes one of the greatest characters in videogame history. With a magnificent bang that rewards all your choices about the Genophage, from ME1 to this very moment. If you chose the "renegade" option when Eve mourned the death of Mordin, she would've replied with a "He's got it right, for everyone." which is much more impactful. A pity you're on console. There's a mod on PC that completely reworks the dreams and would truly wrench your heart.

There's a mod on the Nexus forum call Community patch that irons out a lot of bugs and glitches off the game without changing anything to the original experience, nor taxing your PC in any way. I highly recommend it. Dreams Remade (that's the name of the mod I pointed to) is more for a second playthrough, but the result is absolutely incredible and that's no exaggeration. You'll appreciate it more after you finish the vanilla game.

I had my reflexes betray me as I heard the renegade option pop up (didn’t see it) and my body instinctively reacted to shoot Mordin in the back. I may have been playing renegade but I didn’t want to betray my friends and had to stop playing the game for a while after that. I do have to recommend seeing how the renegade path plays out as it’s very emotional and powerful sequence
I dunno how well you’ll like this advice against Ravagers (I play multiplayer regularly as Vanguard) but I deal with them by Charging right up to them and then just blasting with a shotgun 😅 at point blank range they can’t do their triple long range gunfire and instead pop their sacs to release swarmers as a defense mechanism(thus loosing a lot of their armor). Main problem is that their blood and the swarmers can drop your barriers a bunch so what I then do is Charge a swarmer to get them back. Then repeat 😂 Vanguard gaming for life 💯
@@lucyjrobynI’ve learned a lot playing multiplayer, I’ve played the trilogy a lot of times but only playing mp taught me stuff like how to combo powers, biotic explosions, tech explosions, good weapons and mods, etc. Idk if you remember the specific explosions that happen when you Charge into enemies caught in Liara’s Singularity but that’s an example of a biotic explosion, so satisfying. Still I would recommend not Charging a Ravager that’s in a group with other enemies or you’d be overwhelmed easily 😅 go for one that’s isolated. Anyway, Priority: Tuchanka is honestly one of the best gaming moments for me 😢 really enjoying your playthrough so much! It’s crazy how attached we get to these characters, and Mordin is definitely one of the best in this trilogy. Looking forward to more videos, and maybe I’ll try to catch more streams live!

Actually...... not me, but I watched one player who was going to betray Wrex, but was only stopped because they would have had to kill Mordin to do it. They never mentioned the conversation with the Delatrass and the genophage was only cured because they couldn't pull the trigger on Mordin.
I do really like that. How the person was set on doing it until they had to shoot an old friend and ally in order to do it. Makes me think they would have been able to if they had the mordin stand in there.
If you kill Wrex on Virmire in ME1 or by some anti-miracle don't recruit him, Wreav becomes Urdnot Chief in ME2. I've played each game in the series testing out differences, but I have not been able to stomach my Wreav leads Urdnot in ME3 playthrough, but Wreav being in charge and Eve being dead is the only way (at least that I've found) to convince Mordin to not sacrifice himself.
Yeah, there is a way to technically get Mordin to survive, but it's very complicated. Essentially, Wrex has to die in ME 1, then you have to destroy Maelon's data in ME 2 then if your Paragon/Renegade score is high enough, you can do a speech check to convince Mordin not to disperse the cure. You really have to go out of your way to make it happen.
Nova is constantly screwing you over. ;) That's why I never used it myself! Charge in - Shotgun, Shotgun, Shotgun while my shields are still full. Then Charge again and repeat. :)

I think I saw this on twitch. Don't feel bad about tears. We all had them when we first played through. Truly. I understand there is some crazy way to save Mordin and the Krogan, but it requires lots of decisions made in a certain order back in the beginning of the game. Looking forward to more ME3 content and hoping you will choose Dragon Age One to go along with your Telltale series.

The thresher maw fight is one of my favourite moments in the trilogy, seeing it experience losing a 1v1 fight was cathartic.

Game sneakily prepared/warned you for Mordin with Grunt's supposed death, whether it actually happened or not. Nice that you thought same with Liara being with Javik. Prothean dna certainly would continue with Asari and the physic ability certainly would be passed on.

There goes one of the greatest characters in videogame history. With a magnificent bang that rewards all your choices about the Genophage, from ME1 to this very moment.
If you chose the "renegade" option when Eve mourned the death of Mordin, she would've replied with a "He's got it right, for everyone." which is much more impactful.
A pity you're on console. There's a mod on PC that completely reworks the dreams and would truly wrench your heart.

There's a mod on the Nexus forum call Community patch that irons out a lot of bugs and glitches off the game without changing anything to the original experience, nor taxing your PC in any way. I highly recommend it.
Dreams Remade (that's the name of the mod I pointed to) is more for a second playthrough, but the result is absolutely incredible and that's no exaggeration. You'll appreciate it more after you finish the vanilla game.

I had my reflexes betray me as I heard the renegade option pop up (didn’t see it) and my body instinctively reacted to shoot Mordin in the back. I may have been playing renegade but I didn’t want to betray my friends and had to stop playing the game for a while after that. I do have to recommend seeing how the renegade path plays out as it’s very emotional and powerful sequence

I dunno how well you’ll like this advice against Ravagers (I play multiplayer regularly as Vanguard) but I deal with them by Charging right up to them and then just blasting with a shotgun 😅 at point blank range they can’t do their triple long range gunfire and instead pop their sacs to release swarmers as a defense mechanism(thus loosing a lot of their armor). Main problem is that their blood and the swarmers can drop your barriers a bunch so what I then do is Charge a swarmer to get them back. Then repeat 😂 Vanguard gaming for life 💯

@@lucyjrobynI’ve learned a lot playing multiplayer, I’ve played the trilogy a lot of times but only playing mp taught me stuff like how to combo powers, biotic explosions, tech explosions, good weapons and mods, etc. Idk if you remember the specific explosions that happen when you Charge into enemies caught in Liara’s Singularity but that’s an example of a biotic explosion, so satisfying.
Still I would recommend not Charging a Ravager that’s in a group with other enemies or you’d be overwhelmed easily 😅 go for one that’s isolated.
Anyway, Priority: Tuchanka is honestly one of the best gaming moments for me 😢 really enjoying your playthrough so much! It’s crazy how attached we get to these characters, and Mordin is definitely one of the best in this trilogy. Looking forward to more videos, and maybe I’ll try to catch more streams live!

Actually...... not me, but I watched one player who was going to betray Wrex, but was only stopped because they would have had to kill Mordin to do it. They never mentioned the conversation with the Delatrass and the genophage was only cured because they couldn't pull the trigger on Mordin.
I do really like that. How the person was set on doing it until they had to shoot an old friend and ally in order to do it. Makes me think they would have been able to if they had the mordin stand in there.

Is it me or are you extra-Irish this episode?
If you kill Wrex on Virmire in ME1 or by some anti-miracle don't recruit him, Wreav becomes Urdnot Chief in ME2. I've played each game in the series testing out differences, but I have not been able to stomach my Wreav leads Urdnot in ME3 playthrough, but Wreav being in charge and Eve being dead is the only way (at least that I've found) to convince Mordin to not sacrifice himself.

Yeah, there is a way to technically get Mordin to survive, but it's very complicated. Essentially, Wrex has to die in ME 1, then you have to destroy Maelon's data in ME 2 then if your Paragon/Renegade score is high enough, you can do a speech check to convince Mordin not to disperse the cure.
You really have to go out of your way to make it happen.

That's why I never used it myself! Charge in - Shotgun, Shotgun, Shotgun while my shields are still full. Then Charge again and repeat. :)

I think I saw this on twitch. Don't feel bad about tears. We all had them when we first played through. Truly. I understand there is some crazy way to save Mordin and the Krogan, but it requires lots of decisions made in a certain order back in the beginning of the game. Looking forward to more ME3 content and hoping you will choose Dragon Age One to go along with your Telltale series.
