I've had my livescope for about a month now, used it four times mostly in forward view. Prior to purchase I watched a lot of videos and read reviews until my eyes bled. You guys do a fantastic job of comparing out of the box settings, and I think active target has a slight advantage here but I believe you need to dial in the settings on the Garmin to see who comes out ahead. I also believe everyones eyes will see a difference on certain color settings, my 67 year old eyes didn't like the setting in the comparison but there again thats me. Overall your videos are great. Thanks
Cannot compare these 2 units when the settings are not adjusted for all the conditions. They needed to do their best to dial each one in to maximize the clarity.
Problem is that the Garmin settings are crap and needed to be tuned in. The garmin kills all others when dialed in. States he was trying to dial it in and didnt do anything. The AT is as good as it will ever get right there. They would not be able to tune that any better and its one of the best I have seen from any Lowrance AT. The garmin is shocking with the settings they are using in those conditions. I could tune the backside out of that Garmin cleaning it up hugely and I bet we couldnt get the AT any better.
Lol you LS fan boys are ridiculous, i have both LS and AT. You can fine tune the AT for even better pictures then that. But even When both LS and AT are tuned, AT is still shows better picture quality and can see fish and structure more defined.
@@sho9636 That may be the case, but that is not my point. To have a fair comparison, both units need to be dialed in to their best, t he guys doing this comparison are not rookies using this technology. So how about you do a great comparison and post it. You will get many views. Also, I am sure Garmin will come up with something new shortly to one up this Technology, so this will be mute in short order, I am guessing.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
They are both great, but the bottom line is active target is definitely a little crisper/clearer, with better range… I use AT, but I’ve seen both in person myself, anyone saying live scope is better is kidding themselves…great video!
🔥🔥 Lowrance is definitely the winner, I have absolutely no regrets in the investment I made with my HDS LIVE and Active Target, thank you boys for everything you do 👊👊👍
I would like a comparison video with each unit dialed in to their best settings. That would be more telling than auto mode. Are we taking full advantage of their capabilities here?
I was just thinking the same thing and I scrolled down to comment, and you already touched on that point. I agree let's see them at their best settings dialed in....to me I think that would be a fairer comparison than with default settings.
Got both and Garmin is still better because this is factory setting, I can dial in the garmin to be super clear yet with the AT factory settings is as good as it gets!
Being a livescope owner you definitely can dial it in way better than auto settings. My 1/32 ounce crappie shows up better than that monstrous jig being used. Before you buy either one find someone that can show you both on the water dialed in.
Gain for Garmin needs to be set much higher to see past 50 feet. All the tutorials show the user is about 70 or a little higher. Auto settings are BS when you want to dial in a certain distance away
You line you transducer up by the direction your pole or trolling motor is facing. Pretty easy to do. I prefer the pole because when I'm spot locked you can keep the image still vs. on the trolling motor mounting which is always moving left and right.
You see it on the screen when using it, just not on the export of the recording. Also, the quality of the recording is a lot less defined on the export then on the actual screen when using in front of you. This also can include the noise too. In short, it is at least 2-3 times better and clearer on the screen opposed to the recording export. 6 months of heavy use for me has determined this.
Won a tournament last weekend with forward mode livescope in 12-6 feet water with jerk bait caught some on Livescope following bait and others on blind cast like normal but live scope helped
Yep, and the recording believe it or not does not give it justice. What you see on the unit itself while using it, is at least 2-3 times better in terms of clarity and definition again.
Guys need some help. $2500 to spend updating Electronics: like a lot of your subscribers are doing a lot of research. What I have now: Lowrance 8” HDS Gen 2 console w structure scan and a 5” in bow hooked to a Ultrex Minn Kota all networked together .Also have the old 332 color still in the console dash of the ranger Z21-2006. Possible plan: 1. Lowrance Live 9” in console and move my 8” to bow. I lose the ability to see waypoints-units don’t talk to each other? 2. Lowrance Live on console and Bow. Next year add active target; however really don’t want to get below a 9” unit. Can go Garmin and Hummingbird as well. Your thoughts and u may have other ideas. Thanks.
Garmin is not set up to run in Auto mode. Go watch the PROs tips, they all dial in their units based on depth, water clarity, and how far from the boat the targets are. There is a huge difference in 60% gain and 70+. These comparisons are OK but each unit needed to be dialed in to their best settings to compare fairly.
@@bassmasterbrewski7392 You need to understand how Garmin units are supposed to be set up. My unit looks so much better than what they showed in this video. Auto settings are for beginners.

Lowrance for me.
The Garmin was interesting, but how do you know if your casting to the left or right of a Target?

Did you look at the bulldozer on the bottom with the active target?
Is this active target 1 vs lvs32?
So wich one is the best for the money 💰
How do you know how far your out on the active tater I don’t see no depth numbers no depth range lines no distance numbers and no distance range lines

You need to adjust the settings on the Garmin and you would see much better detail out to 80'. My gain is always near 70 or higher.

There is 2 types people in the fishing world the ones who bought live scope and the ones who wish they would’ve bought live scope
thank you so much
I wonder how much this stuff could benefit from some of these AI denoising and Image enhancement algorithms.
Would you ever consider just using livescope by itself? Why even have the other traditional transducer views anymore?
That’s the dumbest comment I’ve read in a while
Active target is easier for my eyes.
Add transformers to increase power to transducer .
Livescope
So Lowrance it is...
I can see the garmin better in all honesty. From everything I've seen garmin is still a win 🏆. I'm sure garmin is coming up with something new
