Nice to finally see Pat join Dave for an interview. The Dave / Taylor combo has been seen. Pat was with Dave in Nirvana and was in the germs for goodness sakes. Well done
Pat Smear and Dave Grohl should do a podcast as they are hypnotic to listen to. Effortless talent and just nice people. I suspect they are going to be a support system for each other. RIP Taylor.
It seems like anybody who's ever met Dave Grohl or any of the Foo Fighters for that matter, have nothing but nice things to say about them. Really seem like unbelievably sincere, nice people.
Dave Grohl is my favourite famous person! The talent is only seconded to his absolute sincerity and down to earthness. He's a breath of fresh air. Watch his speech at Lemmy's funeral. The most touching, honest thing you would ever hear. And it speaks volumes to his personality. Brilliant, genuine, humble man 😊
@VinylViper your reply was brilliant, buddy, and definitely resonates with me. Im sorry to hear about your Dad, but those are brilliant memories you have ❤
I think the only time I’ve seen Dave angry is when he stopped the band playing and threw the guy that was fighting out of the concert!!! Awesome! Great guy.
@@williamz7011well actually pat was not featured on that record. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure we never got any Nirvana studio recordings featuring Pat, tho they did plan to let him in on the next record.
This is what happens when you put a great interviewer with two of rock's most humble and affable stars. Great informative interview that everyone seemed totally comfortable with.
MY Comment above is a great comment and Pat Smear is a nice guy and he is very much a member a great band that features the Foo Fighters and POSSIBLY music by the band Nirvana. IF it is all wrong then MAYBE we will have to pay the money for it?
It's interesting that people talk about wanting Dave and Pat, I've always wanted Dave and Nate to be interviewed together. I'm pretty sure Nate is the only band member who's been in FF constantly since day 1 (Pat left for a good while)
Superb interview. Man, I hope Dave and Pat and the band just keep creating and moving... with the necessary breaks of course. Long life to you guys, long and creative life!
I wish I could find the article from like 2003 where they explain Dave's strategy of saying that every new album is the best one that they've made. Almost fifteen years later still true, keep rocking lads!
These guys are so humble and grounded for being so huge. Everyone in the band seems like they are just like kid’s starting out to be so lucky to get their chance.
Dave would rarely say a bad word about anybody let alone other artists. He has a great attitude on life an that’s almost half of his success. He’s not fake and doesn’t market himself like people eg:Madonna. He will give anybody time and appreciate all the love he receives. I’m Australia we have a big radio station MMM 105.1 and it’s known as Foo Fighters FM I love it.
Dave always seems grounded and down to earth and genuine. He seems to surround himself with similar personalities. In his concerts you can tell he loves the fans and the feeling is mutual.
He is also a famous singer with a great vocal range. He recently performed with the Foo Fighters. Ever heard of 'Never Gonna Give You Up'? That's him! Thank me later. Cool guy.
besides the fact dave is a genuinely caring and nice persson aaand a musical genius, he is hot like hell. and y'all can call me a hormonal teenager but he is so fine that one forgets he is 49 in three weeks
Dave Grohl on drums reminds me of Animal from Sesame Street on drums......or does Animal from Sesame Street on drums remind me of Dave Grohl on drums??? It's a vicious circle. I think I just blew my own mind 💥😵
How many people love that Pat has never seen "The Shinning?" How many people would love to sit down and watch the Shinning with Pat!? He's the coolest cat ever.
Funny how you’d never expect some guys to be so tough that they can get an injury that would shelve most people and keep on... Dave Grohl breaks his leg and Jon Bon Jovi tears his calf muscle and both keep going. Talk about “the show must go on.”
yn we just say that the interviewer is amazing? Great questions, always keeping the whole thing in a great mood… It‘s a good conversation rather than a standand promo interview
I would assume he is talking about all the people he employs and the fact that he has an empire to run. It also might be a polite way to say he just likes working.
Just got tickets to see them in Birmingham, Al. Oct 26th. Very fucking excited...I love these guys. Can’t wait to see them. “Always be yourself, unless you can be Dave Grohl, then always be Dave Grohl”
casperld just seen them live in Seattle on the first and Portland on the tenth.....it's funny during the introduction when pat walks out the audience goes crazy lol he just has to stand there 🎸🎸🎸
Yes. When he said " .... going from the band that he was in when he was young .." and the puzzled look on his face as he turned to Pat (no doubt hoping he'd pipe up with the name of the band!) was very funny!
The shining I could watch only once. It freaked the shit out of me. SCARY film. The ring and paranormal activity. Classics. Especially the Howling and American werewolf in London Currently on Supernatural show. 67 Impala rocks(it's the heaaat of the moment!!!!). Don't forget Pink Floyd!!
Pat Smear is so chill and Dave Grohl is so down-to-earth. Such talented but grounded guys.
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate Pat Smear? Fucking legend.
When I see Pat I think of "In Utero"
He was broke and practically homeless when Kurt asked him to join the band. The Germs were dead and gone.
Pat made Nirvana complete. Yes, it was a punk trio, but they needed another and he killed it.
Fuckin Fact's
Amen. ❤
Dave makes it easy on interviewers, he really engages into a conversation.
I love how the conversation didn't start with talking about the band but about the shining
Rick Astley recently did an acoustic cover of Everlong. It really was fantastic!

He's barely a rock star. Just because you are in nirvana and the foofighters... oh

Pat actually talks on this interview yay

I love me some Pat Smear. He is just straight to the point and does it adorably.
I love Dave but he talks to much. He needs to let his bandmates to get a word in. IMO

I still can't believe that Pat Smear is 60, as far as I'm concerned, that man is 30
Nah, he has a lot of sun damage, and--with the dyed hair--he looks like he's in a mid-life crisis. So, he looks like he's at least in his 50s.
@@confusedwhale He looks exactly the same as 20 years ago interview ahah
I wish you the same :)

Time comes for us all, brother.
Dave, to Pat "... the fake moon landing that you watched in 1969." Lol.
He doesn't look close to 60

Awesome! Great guy.
I still look at that clip from time to time, it cracks me up every time. Dave Grohl is the big brother we all need in our lives.
Rick covered Everlong last year. He sounded amazing.
Pat - the under appreciated fourth member of Nirvana. His guitar work saved the day during their live shows when Kurt was too out of it to play
Plus In Utero wouldn't have been the same without the second guitar. Songs like "Very Ape" wouldn't have been quite as awesome without Pat

Pat smear is such a good guy
Pat Smear's face makes me smile:)
Probably one of the reasons Dave took him back after he quit the band, even though he had already replaced Pat
Yeah, he is a great guy, BUT, he can only go so far and the band has been seen as far as so far a GREAT band.

Is this a Smear campaign?
I'm glad to hear Dave is conscious of over saturation. It doesn't matter how good you are, sometimes you need to make people miss you.
These two are very much great blokes! I love how Dave credits his wife in the interview!

They got Stanley Kubrick to film the moon landing but he INSISTED they filmed on location.
Nah he hates flying so he had them build him a scale replica
That is fantastic sir!
Nice
Superb interview. Man, I hope Dave and Pat and the band just keep creating and moving... with the necessary breaks of course. Long life to you guys, long and creative life!
Nice to see an interview where the person interviewing knows what he's doing.
