- Today is my reaction, review and rating for "When I'm Alone" by The Warning. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think. Thank you.
NOTE: I want to thank everyone so much for the watching my videos and leaving your thoughts and opinions in the comments. It means so much to me. I appreciate all of you.
Join me as I listen to XXI Century Blood for the first time. I will be doing a live reaction to every song from the album. In order. Giving a brief review of each song as well as a numbered rating 1-10 of the song. NO script. HONEST reaction, review and rating. All reactions have been recorded and will be released 1 at a time every 2 days. Please feel free to comment and let me know how you feel about my videos. Also, and more importantly, let me know your perspective on each song and what you would rate the song on a 1-10 scale. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you.
NOTE: XXI Century Blood is the only song from the album that I did a scripted review of as opposed to a reaction video. the reason being, when I recorded the reaction video my mic was muted. I didn't want to be fake and re-record a reaction video. so I wrote a review instead. That being said, its my favorite and I prefer that style of video. let me know what you think.
Thank you for watching. Like, comment, share, & subscribe. All that good stuff. See you in the comments.
One more thing. My initial rating for the title track XXI Century Blood was an 8. Since then however it has been upgraded to a 10. I love that song.

You probably know this, Dany wrote this song at age 15 as a homework assignment while attending Berkeley School of Music. She was feeling homesick at the time!!!🔥⚡️
Yea!!! My home state and the best music college in the world 🎉
I actually did not know that. Until I read it in the comments. That’s so awesome. This is such a beautiful piece of art.
I am a minister in Canada and I have read Dany's lyrics to a few people wrestling with depression and a few others feeling very lonely - one of whom was in her 90s. All of them remarked, "Yes! That's what it's like. How did she know?" To be able to put an intimate moment of vulnerability into her song when she's feeling abandoned is a gift. Thank you, Dany, for daring to share so others can heal.
More, she had been struggling with the assignment for several days. This was written, IIRC, the night before the song was due.
I like that Dany changed the opening. While I like this version, the way they play it now feels more fitting.
Oh. How do they play it now?
@@RichandTheWarningthey start it now with just Dany singing by herself. Alone. lol. Then the band comes in on verse two. Check out the Teatro Met version
@@RichandTheWarning as was said, Dany starts almost acoustically. It's very simple all the way through the first verse and gives the audience a chance to sing along. It hits harder, because it's laid bare for the opening.
And at the 10th Anniversary concert, Dany plays this all alone, just her and her guitar, alone on stage with 8,000 fans in the audience. She also talks while strumming. It is a magical moment. I always tear up as it is a very personal song to Dany. And who hasn't felt alone at some point in their life?!
Written by Dany who was very homesick while TW attended the Summer Program for Kids at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It is such a fan favorite and so personal to Dany that they still play it at concerts.
Thank you for the background info! That’s awesome!
I was super luck to hear them perform this song last April in Manchester. AFAIK it was the only time they played it on their most recent European tour.
@RichandTheWarning there was a vlog series posted by the Ellen show that has since been reposted on TH-cam about their time in the school and near the end you see Dany crying as she's homesick. I assume that was around the time she wrote this song.
I have 54 (soon to be 60) songs in my The Warning top 5…. they’re all 10’s 😉. & we haven’t even gotten to their cover songs🤣
This is a great example of a song that doesn’t have to be technically complex to be a great song. It shows influences of 90s-00s pop-punk brilliance. Almost a ballad if it wasn’t so punchy. I was going to go through every song you do and say it’s my favorite just to see if anyone notices, because we know that’s how it works.
Suena más a grunge. Alice in chains o algo así
The lyrics are very deep
This song is def a ten on the album
Yea. It’s great.

Thank you!

Thank you for covering some of the older songs. This one is a crowd favorite. Teatro CDMX 2022 is a great full band version. If you have not seen it, here is a solo acoustic version in their hometown last October. th-cam.com/video/mSJe0iOhksU/w-d-xo.html
It’s my pleasure. I love this song now. I was rocking out to yesterday on the way to the post office. Full volume. Singing along. It’s great.
No backing vocals in this song either, it is just Dany all alone, although the others are still playing their instruments.
I love this song more and more every time I listen to it.
