    Thanks for the video. I am from South Africa and very interesting in going further into this. Currently growing lots of fruit trees in big containers and farm softer plants, veg and banana/papaya in the ground while I look for a perminent place to put my roots down

    Would love to do what you doing - very fulfilling and rewarding - I really wish the government can make more land available for this type of lifestyle - a small 2 hectare homestead is all that a regular family would need ❤

    i moved from the city to a small town and as we all are aware all infrastracture is colapsing so i have basicly gone offgrid with water and electricity supply have a hydroponic tunnel and busy with shade netting for other crops ,you don't have to move to the sticks to go offgrid but it is by no means a cheap operation even if you do everything yourself

    Fascinating! Excellent work.
    I've recently become aware of the UN Agenda 21 & the devastating impact it has already had in South Africa. Looking forward I only see further erosion of our human rights & liberty which has sparked a keen interest in me for homesteading & creating a life where I'm totally independent and self reliant.
    I am very interested to see more & learn more. Please keep the videos coming. You're doing important work that is going to be of enormous value to every South African.

    Hi Garth, i am really glad to see that there are South Africans that really want to live off the land and provide for them self. I am one of these people and i am very inspired by seeing what other people do on their land and implementing it for myself.
    Is it possible to provide us with the plan for the biodigestor or point us in the right direction for us to find some designs and concepts on how to implement it into our land.

    Since his focus is more geared to flower garden as opposed to vegetable gardening, my questions are how does he grow enough food for his family, and why the interest in flower gardening?

    • @GarthEnsley
      @GarthEnsley  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      the flowers as far as i know sell to all the restaurants and guest houses in the area , so it brings in some revenue for the farm , the garden is more for their own personal use.

    • @heatherwolmarans7665

      And flowers are part of the cycle, they bring pollinators and other beneficial insects to eat pests in a vegetable garden.

    Nice video, terrible audio. Cannot hear the questions at all. On your solar panel side ... I decided rather than all the expense and hassle of a moving panel array I simply added one more panel to make up any losses in winter. Of course the advantage is I gain in summer and basically get what I wanted during winter all for the price of one extra panel ... just my way of thinking ..

    I would love to get some land, build a home, and begin home steading in South Africa. With the land situation and attacks on farmers though it makes it seem to be a scary leap to take if I ever were to.

    Hi Garth love what you have done its amazing to see South Africans moving off grid and homesteading. Well done hopefully I can following in your foot steps soon. We are u located? It's beautiful part of the country that u have selected. Garth I've sent you an email regarding the Biodigestor. Thanks looking forward to hearing from you and seeing more videos. Keep up the great work!

    Thank you for the very informative video. :) A few questions; where is this homestead? How much does it cost to put the whole solar system in place, and the costs of the bio fuel setup. Did you start doing cut flowers as a business which arose from the neighbouring town or was it an existing business? How much does it cost per month to maintain your property?
