  • Go trimless and create a shadow reveal instead of baseboards, using Trim-Tex vinyl F Beads!
    Good news; thanks to ‪@trimtex‬ , you no longer have to own an Art Gallery just to get the contemporary look of a trimless space!
    If you’re looking for a way to increase the WOW-factor of a room, look no further. Architectural F Reveal beads from Trim-Tex make the trimless look accessible to everyone. To put it simply, switching from traditional baseboards and casings to theses beads can elevate everyday room details with relatively little effort. These vinyl drywall beads will be your secret weapon in crafting crisp, clean edge reveal effects that can be used instead of trim when butting up to door jambs, windows and other unfinished interior architectural components!

    But with less than 3/4 inches at floor base, aren’t you concerned about shores, vacuums etc scuffing and banging into and a bottom 4-6 inches of drywall ?

    • @johnborges5938
      @johnborges5938 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes this completely ignored the functional purpose of baseboards, but Instagram and TH-cam cool homes never need vacuuming or have furniture legs bump against the drywall, so no worries.

    Question / what color grey did you use?

    • @VanessaHammonds-gk6fk
      @VanessaHammonds-gk6fk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had to call about 4 or 5 places (around houston). A few were able to add to their stock orders to avoid shipping. Also the price varied from $80-$120/box for the f reveal that I chose…well worth calling multiple companies! Shipping was between $200-300 and I was able to avoid that…especially because I’m going room by room I don’t need it all at once and can’t justify that shipping cost! (I’m a DIYer)

    I have a question... If you ripped a piece of long wood the same height as the Trim Tex F bead and that wood piece were 6 to 10 foot long... and set it on the floor, then set a 4 foot or 8 foot piece of sheetrock on top of that wood piece like a boot, then screwed the drywall into place, then removed the 6-10 wood footing... would the Trim Tex F bead slip right into place and avoid all the cutting?

    • @cg3356
      @cg3356 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah there are different ways to do it. What you describe is called using spacer blocks. Generally you do this on the subfloor, not on the flooring (flooring needs to be installed as close to the walls as possible). So make sure you know the thickness of your flooring, underlayment and add 1/8" or so on top of the thickness of your reveal bead (So you have a little bit of wiggle room to install the beads) The advantage of your technique is way less dust.

  • @xiaoliu9160
    @xiaoliu9160 ปีที่แล้ว

    it looks like still have a gap between floor and F bead. not easy to clean the dust. Can we make them no gap at all?

  • @NatalijaZake-jd7fm
    @NatalijaZake-jd7fm 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I love the look of it, but what will you have to do if you’d want to change flooring few years later? Would you have to rip off the beading?

    • @RefreshHomeImprovements
      @RefreshHomeImprovements  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the new floor is the same thickness, our slightly less, you might get lucky- but in most cases, yes you would likely have to remove the detail and reinstall it. Another option would be to simply add baseboards over the detail with the new floor installed 🤷‍♂️.

    Tape the reveal before an install like this. Then pull the tape.
    You can get these with tear off edges to keep the mud out of the reveal.

    Normally floors need to be installed with 1/4" gap against the walls for expansion. What do we have to do to install F beads?

    • @RefreshHomeImprovements
      @RefreshHomeImprovements  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! These beads are 1/2” thick at the bottom so the floor goes under 1/4” and still has 1/4” for expansion.

    I hate old school baseboards and this is exactly something I’d do in my home,… especially with a new floating floor. I was surprised the F-Bead covered the gap and essentially replaced quarter round.
    Does this meet fire code in the USA?

    • @petemiller519
      @petemiller519 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just install blocking between studs, or use a double bottom plate (with 1 1/2" shorter studs though) to provide solid wood blocking behind the raised drywall. That will match blocking fire properties and should meet the code. Run it by your local inspector first, some get their nickers in a knot with new techniques.

    • @DanielSilverman-ge5zd
      @DanielSilverman-ge5zd 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oftentimes for commercial applications we have to use an extra layer of GWB in order to guarantee the fire rating of a fire-rated partition.

    • @FEV369

      I'd sweet and not crash the vacuum into the wall. I mean, hitting the baseboard still makes everything look bad through damage over time.
