Glad i found your channel! I use the Canon C70 for video work, but i only use ef lenses with it with the focal reducer. That way, i still get the wide angles i need, with cheaper lenses, and also an extra stop of light. If im shooting handheld with it and doing walking shots, i do use lens stabilization in addition to a camera strap and that seems to help out a lot. I have an R5 and an R6, but i rarely use those for video. In fact, i havent even upgraded the firmware on those, they are strictly wedding photo cameras for me.
In the case of the C70 & the R5, it's not a Vs. for me It's a camera A and B. These 2 are great A & B combo. I have them both and I always bring them both on all my wedding shoots. I setup the C70 on sticks for the ceremony as soon as I arrive and pressed to my prep with my R5 on a gimbal. They work very well together...Interviews, they are just a beautiful combo.
Love the video dude! I’ve got an R5 and have used the C70 a bit previously for work at a marketing agency. Trying to weight my options if it’s worth the $5,500 😂
Hahaha! I also use an R5, and, in my case, it's not overheating as much as it freezes (CFExpress even at 4k ALL-I 24fps) - with the updates installed. One thing also relevant to your decision, I think, would be the resell value of the R5 is less than $2k USD (I got it for over 6k in EU at launch). Still, I use the R5 for pretty much everything I do, but I don't think my next camera will be a Cannon since these bodies devalue too quickly imo.
EF-S 17-55 is 2.8 my lens to go on my beloved c100 ii lets hope Rf coming soon also I miss the EVF on the c70 that's why I didn't upgrade yet, no one asks for 4k finishing here in italy
Thanks for comparing ! About overheating really fun ) Im thinking sale my C70 and will waiting for R5 mk2 which is hope coming soon. Hope they will do something with overheating. Need something hybrid for photo and short video. No chance go back to Sony bcs already purchased rf lenses. ).
R5 overheating has been fixed now with the newest update you can turn the auto shut off temp to high. I hadn’t changed that setting yet when I filmed this
Lol not gonna lie your C70 walking atability is trash in comparison to what I know what I’m using the 1DXII handheld with any lens that doesn’t carry stabilization is much smoother and don’t see those giant steps in the footage like I see in your C70 footage. Imo you need a little help stabilizing yourself while walking to be able to do a better stabilization comparison. I can upload walking backwards with my 1DXII just to prove that point. Experience or understanding how to balance your body, arms, shoulder blades goes a long way with eliminating being able to see every time you take a step. That played a major factor in the footage that you showed everyone so I guess the R5 does wonders for people who can’t walk lightly.

You can use de speed booster ring for using yours lenses and have the same wide angle for your primes and zoom lenses.
Why not consider the R5C, which doesn't overheat and is actually a video first version of R5?
Bat life is atrocious

I have not seen any used R5 for less than 2k. Most R5s, I see are around $2500 - $2800
I think the better audio ports is aa reason to change... using proper XLR mics.
