Damn I'll never forget the first time I heard this, we always partied in my buddies cabin and back then he didn't have any internet out there so it was all radio and mp3s. But on a typical night we were listening to KEXP and having some beers. I remember when this came on I wrote "Cotton Jones" on a piece of paper to look it up later. One of my favorite albums, it always takes me back to those times.
2022 for me, now I’m at the level where I can just sing along to it all. If you haven’t searched it yet check out “ spinning wheel/ midnight Monday, and a telescope “ live version on TH-cam. It’s how that song is really supposed to sound like I feel. Pure sonic greatness! Cheers
I heard this song for the first time a few days ago. I heard "I am the changer" many years ago. When I heard this song I thought it was Houndmouth.... glad it threw me back into Cotton Jones' album. Rediscovery is one of the best blessings of good music :)
I can’t believe I am just now discovering this band this amazing piece of work. Wow! This song is so awe inspiring and hits me on a different level. It’s difficult to begin to describe.
@@HalieCakes that's kind of why I like it. I was thinking it maybe had to do with that as well...and always making promises that you'll get better? I don't know for sure, but the mystery is what I like I suppose
@@lowellcarroll2442 I can see how it could be related to making promises that you'll get better as well. I enjoy the mystery as well :) That's the beauty of music.
Got yr own sound. Kind of a Luziana bayou sound. Kind of like cross Grateful Dead with New Orleans somebody. I can really feel the "personality", which is somethin missin in most bands. Other hand, the lyrics analytical, hortatory, didactic, pontificatin, and sometimes trivial, sometimes moody, which is not my bag, but some like it. SPURN THE MUSE!!
@Joshua Dowling The lead singer is still in his prime. Check out his recent solo material, which I am actually more privy to. But Cotton Jones is great, goes without saying.

Lowell Carroll The way I perceive it is that someone is on drugs but they aren’t anymore. Honestly this songs lyrics are so hard to decipher.
