Chuck...there is a video of Tiger out there somewhere talking about this exact thing. Definite goat theory!

Hi Chuck: Wow, great video , something I have struggled with all my golfing career! Turning the shoulders was the root cause of my backswing problems too early in the backswing. Quick question: Are you suggesting us flat takeaway swingers not think about right shoulder back, but rather move the hands? Doesn't this encourage a handsy takeaway and early tension? Thanks again for all your work - Merry Christmas to you and yours and all the staff at Rotary Swing. Greg L.

I've often found it interesting to observe the creases that appear in the golf shirts, especially at the back, how they can "mimic" the stretching of the back muscles...

      Well I be damn....
      You know what?
Your right about the shirt creases, I just never realized it before.
I won't be able to NOT notice it from now on!😁

Chuck, best of the season to you and your staff. We (My wife and me) have been loyal members for years. Our feeling is that it is time to place some coordination to Rotary, what should we follow, the base original training regiments, Axiom or GOAT. Your confused loyal members.
This all said we do understand the left hand will automatically create rotation, and I have found less stress on the left shoulder and reduced reverse tilt and lean.
    Best regards

Yes, a few times and because of base training shoulder glide resonated. Please do not take my comments as criticism, you may find that many of us old dog students are confused

@@emiliomarrello7161 ha no worries. Im working to clarify what the goats actually did vs what the swing theories think they did - mine included. The dead drill and axiom so far line up very well with what the goats did. The downswing piece is what will be the deciding factor and then everything can be made clear based on fact and not theory

This is much simpler than the pull the right scap.

May want to read Hogan's book, Five Easy Lessons. He discusses this very topic in the backswing(e.g. the hands bring the left hip and shoulder to the right side...)

Hey Chuck, When I try the medicine ball toss with both hands it's very curious what happens. My backswing pivot is different, the left shoulder goes down pretty much immediately and it feels more pivot driven. And I'm in a different more centred position at the top. The downswing is also covering the ball more. Is this drill also going to make left arm moves you are talking about as well? Feels that way. When I go to swing with a club after this I'm actually feeling more left shoulder down, right hip back rather than pushing the left arm back. Does that do the same thing we are looking for in this video?

Hi Brian, yes the medicine ball makes this so easy to feel. I use one with handles on it so I can use both sides of the body together.

Hi Chuck, all your previous advice has been that the backswing is started by retracting the right shoulder - a six inch movement. Now you are saying that the backswing is started by pushing the left hand, as demonstrated in this video. This is confusing. Which is correct?
Also, once the initial move with the left hand in front of the right thigh, which muscles complete the turn? Best wishes!

Sure sounds a lot like pushing from the left vs pulling from the right.
