Sit back and enjoy this vlog of our family holiday to Lapland in December 2021. This is an overall vlog of our time in Saariselkä, Rovaniemi, Inari & Taankavara, Lapland, northern Finland. We go skiing/snowboarding, visit the gold museum, go on a reindeer sleigh ride, husky dog sleds and of course, visit the amazing man in red, Santa Claus/Father Christmas/St Nicholas after crossing the artic circle.
I will create separate vlogs, with more content and information on each of the places featured so please click the subscribe button to be notified when these go live. Although the children and their excitement are omitted for this public vlog, I hope you can manage to get a feel for what a magical & special place this is in the world.
With temperatures as low as minus 27 degrees Celsius and it only being daylight for a few hours a day, it really was an experience we will never forget.
Enjoy & hopefully it will also inspire you to travel to Lapland for a once in a lifetime trip.

The powers that ought not be are having a fire party lately..food processing plants all over the USA...feiifs and fields and farms in Eastern Rurope, bridges, power converters, and tourist areas in France and Finland..all going up in smoke. So many coincidences. So very many.
We're so torn between Saariselka and Rovaniemi can u help us please. We won't be hiring a car to travel between. Our boys will be 4 and 9 next xmas
Exciting times for you ❤️. It depends what you are there for. For us we wanted to experience Finland & the winter wonderland feels up in the hills including some skiing & wilderness dog sledding/reindeers while adding in Santa experience at the traditional Santa hub in Rovaniemi. You can still experience the dog sledding/reindeer in Rovaniemi & the Santa experience in Saariselkä. However, Rovaniemi is by far Santa land & the experience of Joulukka was just fabulous so if Santa is your main focus, this is the place to be. I hope this helps & have the best trip! ❤️ x
Fellow Scot looking to book a trip here! Can I ask you the dates you went? I’ve heard mixed reviews about the snow quantity in December! Thank you x
Highly recommend honey (love your name by the way, my daughter is also Grace). The snow was perfect. Ideal for both skiing and travelling. The dates should be on the video, but we were the first week in December. The only issue going so early was the snowman park wasn’t open, but we weren’t planning on going to it anyway so make no difference for us. Being Scottish, you will be used to snow too, but different to the wet snow we get here. It is dry and the temp it a dry cold, not the same as ours. I suppose it would depend on the years (the same as snow here in Scotland) but there was plenty of normal cover in the first week of December for us where we were. Hope that helps. X

Layers layers layers…..especially a very good quality pure merino wool base layer. Good gloves, and plenty of thin warm layers. We brought hand warmers and foot warmers (the kind you activate and they heat up, you will see on the video), these were the best thing to keep you going outside for longer. Have a great time. Lynn x
