Aurora borealis are still magical to me too, even if I have seen them every winter at many times since my childhood. Have a nice holiday in Lapland. yessss omg I literally felt like crying (although the tears would of frozen stuck tomy eye) lol this was the only oppotunity to see them on this day and we did! But we weren't even looking for them, super lucky we spotted them after coming back from lunch!

What an amazing place! We are hoping to travel to Finland next Christmas (we live in New Zealand so a mammoth trip) and this was a great vlog to watch. Summon up memories: I grew up until I was 17 years old in the region, and since then lived abroad for 50 years, and I remember from childhood when, on a cold evening, coming and going to the outdoor sauna, we saw the northern lights in the sky, so we children were advised that when you whistle, the Northern Lights change their shape. Can you imagine when we sisters stood on a snow trail on a frosty night and tried to whistle with stiff lips, and you know what, the northern lights really changed shape! 😮😃😄 Try it yourself! 😁 ❤

Awww, the place looks magical! I’m actually from Finland but have never been to the Santa Claus village :) I’ve been living in India since 2014 and Christmases here are pretty tropical 😄 this vlog brought me back to my childhood with hot cocoa, gingerbread cookies and piles of snow!

Just came home from Luosto in Lapland 2 days ago. Stopped there on the way back home. Finland and Lapland is amazing! Beautiful people in a beautiful country. Love from Wales 🫶🏻
not at all. the summer in lapland is the complete opposite of winter. the sun never sets and there's sunlight 24/7 for the summer months so obviously can't see the aurora but then again the midnight sun is another attraction in itself also so many mosquitos like you wouldn't believe
So I have never heard of Lapland until you mentioned it, and I AM BLOWN AWAY LOL. Like what in the Disneys FROZEN IS THIS MAGICAL PLACE IVE NEVER HEARD OF?? My bf and I just got back from Europe and we talked about going to Finland someday. Now, there's no doubt lol

😮omg you got to stay at Santa Village. I was there in January 2019. We stayed in a house 5min from Santa Village. It’s mind blowing standing in the Artic Circle. It got to minus 30 the night we went out on a tour looking for the Northern Lights

Welcome to Finland! You came at a good time since snow arrived a tad earlier this year (even further south where I live). How did you find the darkness? It's a tough one to deal with long-term! Also, an ATM in Finland is called Otto (remember for future ;D). Also a tip, in Finland when you come inside a home/hotel you take your shoes off at the door so you don't track snow or dirt inside. :)
I was SOOO lucky, because not even a week before there was no snow, so I was worried we wouldnt get to see the beautiful landscape! But we got lucky, heheh yes we learnt that the hard way I can't believe I didn't take my boots off 😭🤣

Suggestion for those who are interested in seeing the aurora borealis(norrsken). Check the weatherforecast up here for COLD (at least -10) and clear skies. It is like a soothing blanket of homefeeling for us who grew up here. We notice it and sigh and feel safe. So I guess it would be amazing for someone that never see the night skies like we do.

Well you were lucky to see the Aurora Borealis. Gongrats. I see them often from my balcony or my bedroom, and live in south of Finland.
Wow, those auroras must have been phenomenal, usually you cannot capture them on film, they are so dim.
I didn't know how hard it would be to capture them on film, I had to turn the shutter speed right down lol, which results in choppy film viewing hehe, but hopefully you guys enjoyed seeing it heh

Summon up memories: I grew up until I was 17 years old in the region, and since then lived abroad for 50 years, and I remember from childhood when, on a cold evening, coming and going to the outdoor sauna, we saw the northern lights in the sky, so we children were advised that when you whistle, the Northern Lights change their shape. Can you imagine when we sisters stood on a snow trail on a frosty night and tried to whistle with stiff lips, and you know what, the northern lights really changed shape! 😮😃😄
😮omg you got to stay at Santa Village. I was there in January 2019. We stayed in a house 5min from Santa Village. It’s mind blowing standing in the Artic Circle. It got to minus 30 the night we went out on a tour looking for the Northern Lights
I’ve never heard of this place and all I can think about is taking my kids! ETA: I commented before I even saw the northern lights … I was squealing OMG too! So cool!

It only took us around half a day at Santa park! It’s fairly small 🥹🌷🌷🌷 I don’t think it’s really a full day park! Hope this helps hehee

Welcome to Finland! You came at a good time since snow arrived a tad earlier this year (even further south where I live). How did you find the darkness? It's a tough one to deal with long-term! Also, an ATM in Finland is called Otto (remember for future ;D). Also a tip, in Finland when you come inside a home/hotel you take your shoes off at the door so you don't track snow or dirt inside. :)
I was SOOO lucky, because not even a week before there was no snow, so I was worried we wouldnt get to see the beautiful landscape! But we got lucky, heheh yes we learnt that the hard way I can't believe I didn't take my boots off 😭🤣

Suggestion for those who are interested in seeing the aurora borealis(norrsken). Check the weatherforecast up here for COLD (at least -10) and clear skies. It is like a soothing blanket of homefeeling for us who grew up here. We notice it and sigh and feel safe. So I guess it would be amazing for someone that never see the night skies like we do.
