@@imakelegostuff8684 The earlier levels up to We've Got Hostiles look straight out of 2012 in level design and texture usage. Game gets modernized up to 2016 around Surface Tension and arguably becomes 2020 in Xen.

The textures and reflection can look outdated, and the lighting is simple, but holy crap they've built such an amazing environment with what the source engine can handle. They've made it look great anyway

@@TheTruepanther valve isn't anal about IP and doesn't care if you use their assets for a source mod. the reason for these sounds are more to fit the style than anything

honestly I wish they had kept the more original sounds because they have a lot more low end than these ones and it was always really cool to hear them through your subwoofer or headphones and just shake the ground it create a real feeling that you are charging up sort of thing

I think they couldn't actually use the original assets for legal reasons, hence why even the HEV suit and announcer are different
