Hiking Thru Holland (3/5): Pieterpad

- The Pieterpad was a trail I'd been looking forward to for a while before starting it, because I was expecting there to be more hikers, as it's probably the most popular long walk in the Netherlands. The Pieterpad spans about 500 km from Pieterburen to the Sint-Pietersberg (Mount Saint Peter) close to Maastricht.
I walked the Pieterpad as part of a bigger adventure:
I went for a long walk (a "thru-hike") around the Netherlands, stitching together the Kustpad (Dutch Coastal Path), Pieterpad and Grenslandpad (Borderland Path) to form an 1800 km loop round the country.
Stay tuned (subscribe?!) for the next video, where I go off the beaten track a little more on the Grenslandpad (Borderland Path).

Loved your video! So well done. I’m planning on doing the Pieterpad (coming from Canada) in the fall and this sealed the deal. So few good videos of this trail. If you know of an English version of a guidebook or any other advice, please let me know if you have a chance. I also did the Thames Path a couple of years ago. Wondering how it compares. Thanks! Hi from Australia! Really enjoying your videos. We're interested in what gear you're carrying. You seem to travel lightly. Are you still sleeping on the z-pad you had on your pack in episode 1?
Hi Alistair! It's so cool to hear that a) people are still watching the videos I posted over a year ago (from Australia!) and b) that you're enjoying them - makes me very happy. 🙂 To answer your question: I am still carrying the z-pad from the previous videos, but started packing it inside my bag at this point, for a few reasons:
- acts as a back-panel for the otherwise frameless backpack I used on this trip (not super important with thoughtful packing (and a light load), but still)
- better packability: easier to reach items inside my pack and since I wasn't sleeping on it much anymore I could leave the pad in the pack most nights
- aerodynamics 😎😉

'Comfortable' isn't the right word, exactly - 'doable' is a better descriptor for the z-pad, which definitely took some getting used to! I don't have a playlist for the music (and wonder what would be.a good platform - Spotify?) but appreciate the compliment! Thanks again for all your kind words!
