    Looking forward...and, I mean, I'm REALLY looking forward...you your (hopefully to be released soon) range test in a large open area without interference. Since you mentioned a signal booster, I think a LOT of people would be interested in a range test (again, in an area without signal interference) with a 2W and/or 4W signal booster installed on the Radiolink.

    You really need one of those drones that can follow the dongle and just strap it to the drone. Like the skydio and maybe even yours. That would be awesome. It can literally dodge trees and everything and keep line of sight on its own.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a ton of research on the capabilities of a dongle like connection to a drone. Such as the skydio, Which I believe is the only drone on the market that has that tech. Even it, is not reliable for following accurately something is quick and nimble, and small, as an RC car. Quite frankly with the technology just isn’t there yet
      I was close to buying a Skydio. But after researching. I determined it would be more frustrating than useful.

    I can't believe they don't have a stock failsafe that goes into drag brake when you lose signal. That was close and lucky when it decided to take off away from that car. I've been freaked out about my nitro lately and not driving it cause it took off full throttle and just happened to not go towards a field of parents and kids plays soccer. Scared me for sure lol

    Also what batteries are you using in the radio link radio. I have the rc4gs v2 same radio but 4 channel. I was told if I use a lipo with a little more power than the dbl a's it helps with range a bit. I've not tried it but just what I was told

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, more power likely equates to longer range connectivity. I haven’t officially tested this yet but plan to
      th-cam.com/video/Z2sY509dfnw/w-d-xo.html
      I’m not sure if the v2 is capable of 4s. So double check that

    If you would have mounted the long antennas with the RC6GS as high as you can, you’d get further. I used heat shrink tubing to make the antennas stiffer and ran them straight through the top of the cars body and bent them outward at a 90 degree spread (as recommended in the instructions)
    My maximum range in a hilly subdivision is 614 meters.

    • @danielthornton1633
      @danielthornton1633 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My RC car has gps module, and I mounted a DJI camera and VTX to it, and it transmits video to my DJI Goggles. Lots of fun shredding the neighborhood lol

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love it! I do definitely agree with you that if I were to run those antennas out the body getting them up in the air a bit more, I would definitely dramatically increase range. I chose to instead keep them Tucktaway under the body to protect them. As I’m worried with all of the gnarly Wrecks and rolls I would rip one out of the receiver or something bad. I may take your advice though, and change things up. If I decide I need even more range doing what I’m doing. Thanks for the heads up.

      @@EastTactics hell yeah man, I understand what you mean. My 1/8 Traxxas sledge is my basher that I tear it up with, especially at the gravel yard. But the car I use for FPV neighborhood roaming is a cheaper HyperGo 1/16 BM. Little thing moves at a good clip with a 3s battery, but that’s mainly for quick getaways when I’m trolling someone on the streets. 😂I’m overly careful when I’m rolling around the neighborhood, definitely don’t need a roll over a quarter mile from home! I learned that after chasing the neighbors cat lol My daughter named it the Neighborhood Watch Ground Rover lol

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He had an interesting test however I think leaving the vehicle stationary with the top off and the Antanas exposed, and only moving the steering…Requires A lot less pressure for performance on the connection. I’ll get out to an open space soon. And use my drone again to take the vehicle as far as possible away. If it doesn’t perform up to 600 m. It will either be because my antennas are not sticking up through the body combined with possible interference from my drone. But we’ll see it’ll be interesting.

      @@EastTactics wow yeah of course man Especially if it's batteries that you recommend. Also bars and tone same issues they got puffy after one or 2 runs. You can still use them but there definitely something wrong with them as in not normal for any lipos to do that. Good ET yeah I love using Hoovo pack and Zee. Both have been great over the past 2 years of use. Hoovo actually might be better since the cells stay very healthy over my Zee packs. 👍👊

    How's the gyro??
    Does it actually work?

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does work quite well. You can’t have it up to 100% though at least with my big tires on. For whatever reason it gets jittery. But that’s OK just push the dial down to like 25% and it’s good. I’ll be doing a video specifically on using it in the field. Stay tuned.

    In all seriousness though, imagine this house kraton smashed into, being your 3yo kid...
    extremely stupid way of testing range on a runaway RC car. Why it didnt have runaway safety ON?
    My way of testing range:
    2 people, 2 phones on a call with loudspeaker on(bluetooth headset preferably), you ask noobie to sway steering gently from left to right and to give the car slow acceleration to half throttle and back to zero and to do one after the other. YOU take the RC in your hands and walk away with it. You being experienced will notice glitching better, and once noticed, you can report, ask for repeat, ask for full throttle, ask to stop the test on a call. Full safety and more consistency.

    • @EastTactics
      @EastTactics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you’re right. I could’ve done a lot of things better/safer. Unfortunately there is no runaway safety functionality built into the stock set up. Which is actually one of my favorite features of this new transmitter/receiver. It has that automatically built-in. Did I know that the stock receiver/transmitter did not have runway safety? Honestly, I wasn’t sure, sort of didn’t think it did. So I kind of figured at some point my car was going to go a little bit AWOL. Which is why I admit I wasn’t exactly being as safe as I should’ve been and I’ll take the blame for that, fortunately, I know all the neighbors down that street really really well. And I knew none of them would have any major problems with my RC. but yeah, i hear ya.

    Failsafe is important, get a third party cheap failsafe maybe? Or just tie a rope to it?
