  • My definition of "quick" might not fall in line with others. But I've got you know, things to say. I call these a "quickview" because it covers unboxing and initial testing. It does not speak to durability, longevity, etc.
    This is the "quick" review of the Radiolink RC6GS V3 seven-channel radio.

    It was between this and flysky 7ch for me... Bought this one and love it. Albeit, it replaced a spektrum that did 4ws in bash mode better in my opinion. I have a hobbying 1080g2 and use the yellow wire to ch5.. so now i can turn drag brake off and bash by switching left... some breaking in middle and full locked to right. love it. I need to swap the steering wheel to a bigger unit and get ch3 with something as a wheel.... loving it so far.

      Oh, there's no comparison (for me, at least) between the RC6GS and the G7P. Radiolink did it right.
      Easiest way to add a rear-steer wheel: get another steering wheel, remove the foam, drill the center out to slip-fit onto the VR knob. That's how I have all three of my 4WS rigs now.

    I appreciate your genuine honesty! I own 2 RC4GS, and they are amazing radios for the price. Both were submerged in a basement flood that caused my whole RC work area to get soaked, and surprisingly after thoroughly drying them out, one of them still works flawlessly! (The other is for spare parts now 😂) All in all, these radios are amazing, durable, and just work!

    SOLD! I haven't even reached the middle of the vid and I know that I have to try out one of these Radiolink transmitters. I currently have the GT5's on a few of my rigs and I have had good luck with them, but the features on the Radiolink I believe will be better suited for my rigs that need more channels, like my Vanquish Phoenix fleet. I'll comment again if I have questions. Thanks for the quick (re)view once again!

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I came up the same street as it were, where the GT5 is absolutely fine for 2 and 3 channel rigs, but once you really start getting into the channels you find you need programmable buttons. I only have three crawlers on GT5s now, all of which are simple 2-channel jobs.
      The RC6 is AMAZING in the Phoenix, I "updated" an RC4 to an RC6 via firmware flash and switching out the wheel section to one from an RC6 (15 bucks on Amazon) just so I could have cruise control on the Tranquish-- so with the channel mixing for the cruise, that rig is using all 7 channels. LOL

      @CrawlerCanyon  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the 6 with the R7FG twin-antenna is supposed to be good to around 600 meters, I guess aimed toward FPV guys. It's fun reading all the guys on forums/Reddit that can't figure out how to place the dipole antenna. I can get to almost out of visual range with the antennas zip-tied together in the receiver box. It's absolutely more than we need.

    Very interesting video, thanks! I've been watching a few of these lately, since I'm looking for a new and affordable radio for my wrecker. One question remains. • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sadly, it does not. I'm using several RC4s for 4WS duty, and the lack of a center detent is disappointing, but not an outright dealbreaker. I think it's still the best option for 4WS outside of vintage Sanwa (that have a perfectly positioned lever with super-short throw.)

  • @Rombo-86
    @Rombo-86 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man! First of all I want to say you’re the best. But I have one question for you that I think you can answer. Can you program on of the 3way switch to act like the original 3way on the TQI for the diff lockers? Because I want the other 3way switch for my winch 🙈😇 you think it’s possible with the mix?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Should absolutely be. You'd just be mixing two channels, and it would probably be VERY fiddly getting all of the endpoints correct-- especially if you want the one locked/one unlocked setting. I would just have the switch set to be all locked in one position and all unlocked in the other.

    • @Rombo-86
      @Rombo-86 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrawlerCanyon yes like that you said in the end I managed to set. All unlocked and all locked with one switch. I think the transmitter would have to have a more advanced mix function to get it to work properly like the tqi switch. Maybe it’s like you say. I could be done but would be very difficult.

    TX question :
    I swapped the 1060 stock esc for the 1080. Calibrated and set it up. Very smooth. I have to remind myself it's not brushless so I maybe wanting the impossible but I thought I'd ask just incase. Using a stock 8 channel dumbo rc for the rgt challenger . Paired with 1080. I have maybe 1/8th inch of dead trigger before it engages but the esc whine is there. Can I get earlier response or is this nature of brushed. There's a few parameters I don't understand. I left all stock but turned the bec up. Is there something I can mess with to get a more early trigger response? If not she's good as is again I maybe getting greedy haha

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Parameter #13 is PWM, which by default is (I think) 8k. Setting that to 16k will usually silence (most) any motor, but if you're running some kind of OE sealed can, it might never quiet down. As to the deadband in the trigger, most of that is the motor. Better motors will pick up earlier-- never like an outrunner or anything sensored brushless, but it can get a good bit better. You can turn the neutral range down (#11) but I wouldn't go more than one or two clicks as it can get real weird at minimum settings. It's really mostly down to the motor, unfortunately.

      I'll tell you right now that I can't answer that at this moment, but I do have on hooked up to 4 models (using ID Seed) and will 100% change the voltages for each model and see if it's retained with each model. The cheaper way is to get electronic aux switches (like this one: amzn.to/44nMMCs) so that you can control lights or groups of lights by assigning them to a button/switch on the radio. LEDs and light bars are cheap on Amazon. The non-cheap way is to get a complete light kit, which can get up past $150, but will have everything from operable brake lights to blinkers, etc. Myself, headlights, taillight, one light bar is plenty.

    I got the flysky GT5, had it not even a year and i am considering the radiolink rc6gsv3 radio. Partly mostly better switches for my use by the looks of it. And the fact i dont have to wait 4 weeks for an extra reciever to arrive as there is a hobbyshop in my country who stocks the RC6GS V3 and recievers.
    While the GT5 is very easy almost plug and play its got very little customizations, and the switch on thr handle its mode cant be changed from latching to momentary. Another difficulty on gt5 is the 3-pos switch is so stiff its hard in a competition mode with time stress to winch precisely. (My modded gt3c has a 3pos lever switch that centered itself when you released, made winching easy)
    I am curious how well RC6GS holdsnup to rain. Sometime it rains here and us scale crawling guys dont care about weather.
    Anothrr thought, rc6gs would be excellent on the summit, 2speed, lockable diffs front and rear

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dunno about rain service, honestly. We don't get much, so my Radiolinks have gotten wet but not soaked. I can tell you that the Reedy Xp120/130 will absolutely DIE in the rain-- the whole top is just open pots. The neighbor with the Bushido got rain into his 130 and it lost it's mind. The rig would just go full throttle at random.

  • @JIPPERR_1
    @JIPPERR_1 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got an honest 500m range out of my v2, its out of this world. I never have any concerns about the radiolink dropping into failsafe. Also I love equipment thats not to expensive to hand off to a kid or throw in a bag and not be concerned. To be honest this radio is almost purpose built for FPV. The mount on the top can be used for a little monitor and its one of the only pistol type transmitters with a head tracker port. Its the headphone looking type plug on the side near the power switch. I'd love to see more custom switches, dials, knobs hacked onto these, transmitter customizing needs to be more of a thing in rc.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I discovered the range potential when I tried to use a GT5 in my Limitless-- it was losing signal at less than 400 feet. The R7FG with the RC6 easily gets me out to where I can't tell which direction the thing is even facing, so I'd say far enough.
      As far as customization goes, I would LOVE to swap out one of the 3-position toggles with a double momentary for winch use-- that's the dreamiest dream.

      @@CrawlerCanyon I can see that it does make it more appealing the 2 rx bundle also makes it appealing hahaha I think I'm gonna take your advice and buy direct from radiolink so I don't have any shenanigans to worry about

    Do those radios not have model memory? Would think you could run 10 to 20 rigs w 1 remote

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thirty, actually. But we don't do that here. The only time I use individual models are to store "test profiles" on rigs that do that kind of thing, so I'm not constantly having to reverse servo and throttle channels, etc. But 'round here, one rig, one radio.

    Tranquish needs more servos! Perfect candidate for the RC6, lol.

      With cruise, he's already out of channels. He needs an RC8X, so we can add a winch. LOL.
      Somebody tell Radiolink that I need an RC8. You know. For testing.

    I really wish RadioLink would make some race-style receivers without external antennas. Similar to the FlySky G4P

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      SAME. The 7-channel really goes the opposite direction, the antenna doubles and they're even longer. But you're not getting 600M surface range with no antenna.
      I've taken to coiling the antenna(s) into a hoop and putting heatshrink around it. Not gone, but much smaller. If you need four channels or less there is a caseless Rx that is great for rigs without a lot of room. amzn.to/3Uq8pxp

    Yeah the speedometer could be out in your car or truck doesn’t work as long as you have a gas gauge and it works that’s all you need to know to get you home Yep sounds good to me 👍👍😁

    Radio Link has a great upgrade program for those with the V2. After all is said and done I think you end up paying half price for a V3 and keep your V2.

      You ain't kidding. You can literally watch the voltage drop over the course of a single pack of wheeling. I probably get 3x as long out of a set of batteries in the Radiolink.
