I know nothing about photography, but this is one of my most favorite TH-cam channels ever. The road trips, the amazing sceneries, the good vibes that I’m always getting from your “live free close to nature” lifestyle.. Watching your videos makes me relax. Keep it going..
I am into landscape photography, but enjoy the channel for the same reasons :) Plus Thomas is always so calm. Even better, it basically never feels like he wants to sell unnecessary products. Love it!
This video summarizes everything I watch on youtube; photography, camping trips, road trips, nicely restomoded JDM cars, electronic repairs and British people with messy hair. Nice job Thomas, very nice.
I really enjoy all your videos, but this kind of video - raodtrip, travelling, camping and photography is by far my most favourite! Very well done - I am really looking forward to next week! Thank you!
Love the video! Coincidentally, I am taking a short break from packing our newly completed DIY van as we prepare for her maiden voyage in a couple of days. I can't express how elated I am to get back on the road - filming, taking photos, and making more adventure videos. Since we've been "grounded" while we sold our original van to build out a much-needed 4x4 🚐van, I've been soaking up your wonderful videos and practicing with my camera whenever I can. I even inserted photographs between topics in our van build videos. (That has kept me sane and motivated 🤪). You've inspired us to take more time in locations on this 6-week trip. We're going to slow down and take more time with our photography. We often "run and gun" it while hiking, but now we're so excited to wake up for sunrise shots and savor those golden and blue-our moments. Thank you so much for your inspiration and enthusiasm. Cheers from Colorado!
What a beauty of a Sunrise that was... Loved the first shot with the Longer focal length, the second with the light hitting that snowy peak though was just perfect!!
Well , we’re off again for another fun fill adventure in Scotland 😮 Will Tom fix his electrical issues, without burning another hole in his clothes or budget?🤔🥶 Stay tuned for the next episode, right here on TH-cam. 🥳 Thanks for sharing again Thomas.
I really enjoyed all of your images in this video. Just read your newsletter. I spent 2 weeks in the outer Hebrides in my camper van on a photography trip. I enjoyed being isolated and away from people. I understand your need to be around people. I on the other hand think I have two personalities. One is that I love being around people, but two, I love isolation and solitude too. Those two weeks just spent in my own headspace, being creative with my photography, is actually my happy place. Thanks to you, you have inspired me to head back up there and recreate the first time lol. As always I love your videos and content. Also, it was lovely of you to mention dear Alyn Wallace and pay tribute to him. Sad loss indeed.
Thanks for reading the newsletter. Most of the time, I do enjoy the isolation, but this time it was a bit lonely, hence the events that unfolded in the newsletter. Such a shame about Alyn.
Wow! This is why I subscribed so long ago. Absolutely beautiful inspiring content. Even the video footage is worth the time as well! Thanks for sharing, Thomas. Best of travels to you.
Absolutely enjoy the excursions to far flung places and always find the office/sit down videos interesting, but I must say it's really nice to see the bread and butter of your channel in these UK trips.
9:20 simple beautifully exposed shot, 11:04 the colour and pattern makes this image. 11:49 the light on the peak really works, Another Great Video Thomas
I enjoyed your newsletter this week Tom , if fact , Im now eagerly waiting on the newsletter as much as I am waiting for the new flog , now , another long wait to see what you get up to on Harris and Lewis , can't wait for next week to come ,p.s. excellent Images from Loch Garry
I love super simple shoots like that. The photos were smooth, calming and beautiful. The use of Elm Lake (the song) was perfect for the vibe and the sound of nature around you really added to the atmosphere. This is the kind of vibe that I go for in my videos as well. Love your videos mate, I've been watching since 2015.
Definitely a great park up by the Loch. I didn't think the image's were boring. I loved the pastel colours. Hope you get your electrical problems sorted. Look forward to the next one.
I think you're absolutely right Thomas, you can't beat those times when you don't really have to think about your composition too much, it's just there right in front you. That first shot is absolutely stunning!😊
Tom, this video was actually more convincing to get up for sunrise than your video about why you should get up for sunrise. 😆 It's definitely worth it if you're already waking up near a good view! That's half the reason why I make so many sunset videos- I live just steps away from a good western view.
Dear Thomas, thanks for your refreshing video. I just watched it in the morning, during preparation for the day making some breakfast for my children. The light in the sky here in northern Germany was similar to your red colors in your sky in the vid. I enjoyed it a lot, thank you!
Ah, the memories. I used to live on Harris, just outside Tarbert. Spent 3 years shooting landscapes. I used to have the beaches to myself and would be shocked/annoyed if I saw another soul . I think it’s probably busier there now, certainly more expensive from what I’ve seen. I was there 2010-2013. I really miss having those beaches and mountains on my doorstep everyday. I’d love to go back one day (i now live in the Philippines) but your great videos will do for now.
Hey Thomas Probably would have been easier to just glue some of the bits back together on the plug (if you could find them) BTW I bought the same tripod you have, and I am in love with it. So sturdy and solid, great globe clamping system. Oh man its awesome. Thanks for the tip! Cheers
Your book arrived yesterday :) :) :) I'm enjoying it in-between loads of washing. Had no idea (from watching the associated video) that you were so very sick in Nepal. Put aside the book to watch this latest Harris Is. Roadtrip. Never get bored with Thomas Heaton. The first shot down the Lake wasn't "boring" either... it was gorgeous... peaceful... I loved it.
Story of my life, beautiful geography but hard to make a good photo. Guess that's one thing I love about landscape. You have so many things you can do, to translate the scene to the card. You definitely lucked out on that loch tho. Gorgeous surroundings. So good. And inspirational. Time to plan my next trip. BRB
UK driving on left side (vs. opposite in US) freaked me out for just a split second while video was sped up…. “Watch out for that car Thomas!!”…. Another Fun, enjoyable video!!..
I have a total photography block when I am on the road. Totally unable to just stop, get a camera out and take some pictures. Yet driving hundreds of km a month in friggin arctic Norway! So good luck on your trip.
Maybe the old tire in the water could've made a nice foreground object, etc.? 😛 "Reassuring" certainly isn't the right word but somehow knowing that where I live isn't the only place where people litter is somehow... well, you know! 🙂 Beautiful images!
That view down the lake with the colour on the snow was fantastic. The pick of this outing for me sir. Hope you got your electric problems sorted out? Best.
Whenever one of the f4 guys say they didn't get any sleep I always expect their next line to be; and I have a face like... Thanks for the video Thomas.
Well hello sir, this is Gary in Canada didn't know there was a lake named after us Gary's. Fun video, great image at sunrise. My experience with the Isle of Sky more than 50 years ago was also epic. But thats a different and long story. Stay safe .
I tried wiring up one of those plugs once and it somehow came a bit loose sometime later, and I nearly burned by car down, but luckily I saw it smoking and was able to remove it before it caught alight. Since then I've been very wary!
looking forward to next week already Thomas, I actually loved the moon Image , beautiful reflections...I was disappointed you didn't manage to get a photo with that old tire as foreground though.. :) (who dumps such a thing in an amazing place?)
One more time,i love your videos, your photos, your style, everything. In this video you found a very unique and creative way to keep me watching on the sponsored section ;)
Really enjoyable video Thomas and some really nice shots, can I ask what laptop you use and the software to edit while on the move, for me this would be a useful episode. If you have already done this in the past please point me in the right direction, cheers.
My namesake Loch Garry, lovely spot and I thought the images were very nice, far from boring. Looking forward to Harris and Lewis. Your lens swapping makes me nervous Thomas 🤪
Great stuff, Thomas. I only started watching your channel a few months ago but have now watched almost everything 😂 Looking forward to hearing more about the new club. It's a fantastic idea! Greetings from Adelaide (originally from the Wirral)
Immensely. You have inspired me to get out more even if it's only for a hike in a new area to see what's on offer. The second sunrise image may have been simple, but it was still breathtaking. Also, did you make the journey to Harris without getting your plug fixed? Since you’re not under time pressure, I would have thought that the first thing to deal with.
What a great sight to wake up to after parking in the dark! Nice images, too. But it makes me so sad to see such a beautiful place, only to notice that someone dumped an old tire in the water. It’s maddening how some people can be so thoughtless.
Oh, I know. If you look closely you will also see that some half-wit left a camping toilet there. I don't understand how some people think. To me, it's completely absurd to do such things.

And rest in Peace Alyn Wallace, what a legend 😢
Just read BBC. RIP Alyn Wallace
Yeah. It was a tragedy and very shocking to hear the news.
Love the photos; Your low key videos are my favorites and I'm looking forward to next week.
Heard about Alyn in a comment on Richard Tatti's channel. Didn't want to believe it... loved him. Always looked forward to WITNS.
Finally! Oldschool Heaton video! 🤟

Nice selection of shots looking down the loch at dawn.

What a beauty of a Sunrise that was... Loved the first shot with the Longer focal length, the second with the light hitting that snowy peak though was just perfect!!
That's exactly why I always bring a hot water bottle in the van. Redundancy is key for survival :D
I kinda froze there for a second, seeing you changing the lens this way on the verge of a lake. Living on the edge!
Haha, I have good hands.

Always love seeing a new video of yours Thomas. I also love your calendar as well. Takes a proud place on my wall 😀
I do hope you didn't leave you portable loo behind at Loch Garry (see 12:20) 🤣
You missed the opportunity to have that tire as your foreground interest. Would have been a classic! 😀
Next time!
