Don't get confused with Nihilism... which means, EVERYTHING is so utterly meaningless that making your own meaning is completely meaningless which in turn makes life completely pointless (which is where the quote 'Should I kill myself or have a cup of coffee' came from....it doesn't matter because its all pointless)... Existentialism is -- making your own meaning.. which is a meaning in itself and in turn NOT pointless. This is exciting and liberating and freeing to know.....that it is in your hands and you can have any purpose or meaning you want. Absurdism means -- We can't really know either way, but we have to make the choice to make a meaning anyway....

The absurdist view is that the universe is inherently lacking in the possibility of meaning, and yet (as Camus suggests) we must never stop our search for it, despite being conscious of the fact that this search is bound to fail. 2) I wouldn't say that the existential realization is supposed to be "exciting". That creates a very bad picture of what existentialism is about. Almost all of the existentialists were against the idle hedonistic tendency of people, and explicitly advocated the necessity of embracing despair, angst, anxiety and ambiguity instead of fleeing away from them. 3) 'Should I have a cup...' is a quote by camus (founder of absurdism) and so was really not meant in the existential nihilistic sense, though you could stay it stemmed from that perspective.

He is using misinterpreting many of the words when he is trying to give a quick explanation of existentialism. It is too in depth to do in this length of time. I couldn't watch more than a few minutes because of this. I appreciate what you are trying to do, though. I think many people would be positively impacted by existentialism in their everyday life. Refine your talk and keep educating people!
