The CR-V looks nicer than the Rav4 in my opinion.
True, the current RAV4 is getting old. There should be a new one in a year or two.
Especially the interior.
The turbo makes me nervous as I tend to own. Cars 10-15 years…..will the turbo require mote service and hold up over that time?
@@stickbrick8219just don’t be late with your oil changes especially with a turbo and you should be fine. The turbos have come a long way and I think are good for 150k miles without issue
@@gilbs72The CR V looks better than the RAV 4 imo. It also has a roomier 2nd row and the trunk looks bigger. Great looking dashboard too! What concerns me since we keep our cars for 20 years+ is the 1.5 liter turbo engine and the CVT transmission. Some people say the turbo is good up to 150,000 miles and don’t say anything bad about the CVT. I expect a well cared for car will last 200,000 miles without major issues. I also don’t know if the tiny 1.5 liter engine can hold up with a car that large. I’m still a fan of the 2.4 liter engine which was extremely durable. The RAV4 has a naturally aspirated 4 cyclinder and a conventional transmission. I feel safer with this drive train but love the design, size and reputation Honda has for reliability. I should know we have 2 of them.
I recently pulled a deposit on a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid Limited and went with a 2025 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring. Aside from the price difference, the main reason why I went with Honda over Toyota is the "cablegate" (High Voltage Connector corrosion issue) on the RAV4. If you're not familiar with the issue, go research it - it'll definitely make you think twice about the long-term reliability of the RAV4. Not having to worry about a 6K cable going bad every so often because I live in an area where salt is used on the road in the winter is enough for me to go with the CR-V over the RAV4.
I did the same thing for the same reason. I bought a 2025 Ex-L Hybrid and I am very pleased with my purchase so far. It is exceeding the rated gas mileage.
I’d go CRV, better looking exterior, seems roomier too.
Definitely feels roomier, better interior comfort wise. It just needs everything else from the rab for power train et cetera
I have a 2024 model, sport touring, so pretty much everything shown here is in that car as well. Not buying a new CRV until they actually gove us a FULL digital gauge cluster. Its getting crazy how pretty much every other honda model has the new all digital gauge except the CRVs
I'm in the market for a new car and the CR-V is on my list of contenders, but the lack of full digital gauge cluster, ventilated seats, head-up display makes me want to wait. Seems weird that the highest trim wouldn't have these features. How do you like your CR-V overall?
I find I weird as well since Honda’s other models have a full digital cluster. Even on the lower trims. Weird that they still use a partial digital cluster on the 2025 CRV
We have a 14 CRV. I am reluctant to buy a 2025 until Honda fixes the sticky steering issue. Some folks have been without their CRV for months as the parts are on back order.
Same. And the problem has been on civics for YEARS with no fix from Honda. Pretty disappointing.
I have a 16 CRV Touring and have begun "toying" with a trade In and getting a new CRV. It's my Wife's CRV. Only 47K miles on it. I have not had a Sticky Steering issue in ours. Currently weighing either the 2025 CRV (or a 2024 = wonder if there are any differences?) EX-l or Touring vs a Sport Hybrid Touring. The Sport Hybrid Touring is about $5K more but gets more HP /Torque with 20% better MPGs. I wonder if the new Non Hybrids wth the 1.5L Turbo engine have resolved the oil /Gas mixing issue I have read about concerning that engine ?
@@Chiroman527 the sticky steering is much more prevalent on 2023-2025 models but oil dilution does seem to be fixed
@@Chiroman527 Stay away from the 1.5T engines. Better to get the 2.0L Hybrid trims instead. I bought the Hybrid Accord since I didn't want to get the 1.5T.
@@Chiroman527 I sell Hondas/ The hybrid Touring is my choice. I've driven them all. I do tell people that normally the extended warranty is not worth it, however on hybrids it's worth getting an extended for the 7 years warranty. More expensive to fix later down the line. Worth the peace of mind.

We test drive a 2025 CRV EXL, and 2024 Rav4 XLE Premium. We bought the Rav4. CRV is larger, and that's the only advantage we found. Its second row seat is not comfortable, and we don't like there are two more shifts after the "D". Plus, it is about 10 horsepower fewer than Rav4.

I’d still take the 2.5 L Toyota Rav4 with an eight speed automatic. Same set up thats in the old Camry.

I bought a 2022 CRV and to this day love it just as much as the day I bought it.
I had a 2017 CRV EX-L and it was a good vehicle. It looks almost the same except for a few interior upgrades. The last three vehicles have been Toyota’s, but probably going back to Honda for the next one.
Stick with Toyota. Honda reliability drop off so much. There’s too many problem with Honda now and they don’t fix it quick like Toyota when there is an issue. Look up FCW/LDW failure on TH-cam for Civics and Accord. Honda dealership wants 1500 up to 3000 dollars to replace the ABS module but it should be a recall.
I have a 2007 CR-V. Love the body style and has a higher ground clearance than the newer ones. Not loving the new CR-V’s body style. Not ready to give up my 2007 yet.

but the worst innovation i saw them do was on the 2019 CRV they moved the rear washer nozzle to the corner, when for decades it's always been top center....logically.
Why move it to one corner and expect it to be able to spray all the way to the opposite corner??? it was the worst 'improvement' I ever noticed.
The crv has so much more room and comfort in the back seats,and quite honestly I want my kids to be comfortable the car is for them also.

I prefer the crv design over the rav4, I’m sorry it’s just the rav4 just looks so outdated and the interior on that one just feels more cheap then the crv. Again this is just my opinion
These turbo 1.5l engines are prone to oil dilution. It’s a widely known issue and Honda haven’t found how to completely fix them. Get the hybrid for better reliability

I liked the body style of the previous gen better, but it could just be because I'm not used to it yet. I have a 2015 CRV I use as a work vehicle and it's been great. It has over 200k on it and I'll be looking at a newer version soon. I'm glad they are stepping up the fit and finish game it was sorely needed. They (Honda's in general) had too much loud hard cheap feeling plastic in their vehicles recently. Is the ground clearance lower on these or does it just look like it? I can change the oil in my 2015 without ramps etc. and that is something I really like about it and my wife's 2021 Outback. Thanks for the review.
RAV4 is better built no CVT no Turbo its more reliable for sure on long term ownership than crv

Not even a contest, I would not even think of buying the Honda. Between the two vehicles one has a 100k to 125k expected transmission life and the other one has a 250k to 300k transmission life. Also one transmission cost double to fix. No chance.

My own life experiences (mine) are that Honda and Toyota make the most solid and reliable vehicles. They used to be the least expensive back in late 70's and 80's but not anymore. A few other real good makes have taken those places. Just said goodbye to a Honda Pilot I drove for more than 20 years and had to have nothing fixed until 180,000 thousand miles. Was down to these two but went with the CRV because of price and also that I think it is every bit as good as the RAV. Would have prpb. done CRV at same price actually myself. Both great vehicles but Id predict neither will last 20 years though with the modern technology. Having to fix things that shouldn't be critical from getting from A to B. But that's a different argument. If I had it all over to do again I'd still do what I did. Or get that new Pilot I got 20 years ago for same price. Maybe add bluetooth though lol.

Not in my opinion.
Back in 2021 I had needed a new vehicle. I specifically wanted either a rav4 hybrid or crv hybrid - this would be the current rav4 hybrid or previous gen crv hybrid. Both of them were brand new, I test drove the crv hybrid and did not care much for the interior, and when you had the a/c on (probably heat too) and came to a stop or anytime the engine turned off, you could tell by the blower speed and temperature difference. I did not like this. I then test drove the rav4 hybrid and you could almost not even tell if the engine was actually on or not. I then bought a rav4 hybrid and had it for a year and 14k miles. I ended up selling it because I wanted something with more power, a better heated steering wheel (rav4 only heats on sides), ventilated seats, and a better sound system (I had the jbl in the rav4, which wasn't bad I just wanted better) and most importantly - being a hybrid...I made $4k more than I paid for the vehicle new.
I wasn't sure what to get then though and didn't have a single issue with the rav4 lol. But this new crv was out, so I went and test drove one. Definitely better than the previous gen, but I dunno..I still don't like it. So, I went and ordered a new rav4 exactly like the one I had previously. I was told it would take about 3 months to come in (or less). I waited a little over 4 months and ended up buying a 2023 santa fe limited - which had all the features I wanted except I didn't get the hybrid version. Figured I would just trade it in when the rav4 finally came in but then I enjoy everything about the santa fe more so than the rav4 except the fuel economy so I ended up just keeping the santa fe.
