Just a word about your E-Brake. Your car is equipped with an automatic e-brake feature that will automatically set the e-brake when you put the car in park, and disengage it when you take the car out of park. But here is a copy and paste of the instructions. ■ Activating and deactivating the automatic parking brake feature With the power mode is in ON, carry out the following steps to either activate or deactivate the automatic parking brake feature. 1. Put the transmission into (P. 2. Without depressing the brake pedal, pull up and release the electric parking brake switch. - Check that the parking brake and brake system indicator (red) has come on. 3. Pull up and hold the electric parking brake switch. When you hear a beeping sound, release the switch and within three seconds pull up and hold the switch again. 4. When you hear a sound indicating that the procedure is completed, release the switch. - Two beeps indicates that the feature has been activated. - One beep indicates that the feature has been deactivated. - When you have completed activating the feature, the parking brake will remain applied after you turn the power system off. - To confirm that the parking brake is applied, check if the parking brake and brake system indicator (red) is on. There is a lot more information regarding how to use the electronic parking brake in various conditions. Well worth the read if you own the car. Just go to Honda's website and search "manuals," then put in the information for your car. I don't even own one and it was super easy to look up this information.

You just have to focus, follow the instructions, and you're done. Well worth the time spent to not have to worry about whether or not the e-brake is getting set or not with whoever drives the car. Especially when parked on a hill, it prevents a lot of wear and tear on the transmission park pawl, preventing future damage and wear.

Sounds like your new Honda is doing awesomely well. Try not to have a hang up about fuel efficiency. There’s a 101 variables. My RAV4 Adventure Hybrid started at 17.2 km / litre and now its 16.8 km / litre and I drive always in eco mode and very conservatively. I’m sure batteries degrade albeit extremely slowly mind you from day 1 of ownership. Your figures of 34-35 sounds very real world accurate to me. Don’t worry what other people say to you. I don’t use my moonroof that much to be honest and from what I’ve heard most people don’t. Honda and Toyota make the best Hybrids. Cheers NZ.
I had to return a brand new Rav4 for a shit ton of electrical and mechanical issues, 2 of which nearly got me into an accident. Super disappointed. I won't touch any models from 2021 and onward from Toyota because I have a sneaking suspicion that they're rush-building these cars to meet demand from the supply chain issue the pandemic caused. Like how in the fuck was there so much shit wrong with that car? Blew my mind. My only problem with the CRV-Hybrids is that they don't have a spare tire...it's actually a dealbreaker tbh. Are there earlier models that have a spare tire?
I agree. I have the sport touring and haven’t experienced most of the issues noted in this video. The horn is a little wimpy but I use it so rarely, it doesn’t bother me. As for the lights not being bright enough when very dark, I love that the brights turn on automatically so not an issue for me.
So I found your videos a day after I bought my brand new 2023 CR-V with only 93 miles on it. I now have 10k miles on it and this is what I've learned. I was in a position where I needed to get a car within a couple days due to work and moving. All I have to say is that I'm extremely disappointed with it. After having the car for roughly 3 months I have noticed a number of problems that I would consider to be deal breakers, and are motivating me to swap out this vehicle as soon as possible. First of all, NO SPARE TIRE! Like you mention in this video. One week into owning the vehicle I got a flat 3 hours away from home on a Saturday night. Popped the trunk only to find out that there was no spare to be had, and the included fix a flat can was unable to seal the hole. Thank god for the stranger who stopped with a plug kit and second can of fix a flat. For the phone connectivity, the fact that it will only run the maps if physically plugged into the car is infuriating. On top of that the media system has frozen up multiple times and locked the map system until I pulled over and reset the car, or unplugged, re-plugged in, and reset the application. Not sure if that's cause I have an iPhone 8 or not. My average mileage was 33mpg for the first 7k miles, and just now at 10k miles in it has gotten up to 37/38mpg. For people who like to go camping and off-roading I wouldn't recommend this vehicle. If you drive/live on a dirt road the car will throw alarms at you claiming lane departure because you aren't driving between the lines that don't exist. One of the more frustrating issues is the rear seat and trunk setup. I don't like that the rear seats don't lie flat with the trunk like in older models. There is a small lip about 5 inches of difference when you lie them flat, so you can't lie flat in the back to sleep as a mini camp setup. Also instead of having the seat behind the passenger be the wider portion to lie down, its the seat behind the driver. If you want to lay down this means that instead of moving the passenger seat you'll have to move the drivers seat and readjust it when you're ready to leave. The "Roof racks" included are completely sealed to that you need to buy cross bars to actually tie anything down, which is frustrating if you wanted to use pool noodles to hold your kayaks. And good luck with any sort of roof bar or lift kit capability outside of the crazy expensive dealer only options. And the last thing jumping to mind, and the most important is the "Lane Maintenance Assist" feature they have. It feels like its fighting me constantly, and has tried to follow the solid lines when the highway opens into on/off ramps. The has led to the car pulling me into another lane in an attempt to follow the lines when I've been trying to stay straight. This has happened a handful of times along with computer codes saying that it needs to be checked at service, only for nothing to be found. Overall I'm not very happy with this iteration of the vehicle, It feels so far divorced from the original concept behind it. With a name that has Recreational Vehicle in it, it falls short of being capable of even moderate recreational activity unless the roads are paved and there is no need for clearance. I wish I went with a RAV-4 or the gas version of this vehicle. Sorry for the rant, but you seem like the best source on this model so far for reviews. Great videos, and keep up the good work!
What trim did you get? I got the EXL 2023 (non hybrid), I got zero issues with the ones you mentioned. The lane assist can be turned off easily on mine.
iPhone 8? Yes, your iPhone is too old. My 14 pro max runs google maps wirelessly fine. Hybrids have no spare. I call for road assistance routinely for flats. Roof rails are aerodynamic & typical of luxury cars. Stock crossbars are easily added for $200 & are aero. The RAV4 is a huge disappointment. No refinement, poor handling, buzzy engine, loud transmission, not sophisticated, pseudo rugged exterior, poor engineering execution & small interior.
totally understand your complaints. For the flagship and bread/butter car of Honda, this CRV hybrid is a mistake by them (though Honda has been making a series of mistakes globally over the past decade and losing marketshare in very competiive markets like Australia for example). This car SHOULD be the best out there, but the Rav4 hybrid ironically is much better, apparently, unless a person is rather tall, ie lanky and over 6, 1" i guess, then the Rav is cramped apparently. Personally my only gripe w/ the honda is the rear floor being SOOO not-flat: in this case, honda needs to sell cheaply a modifier board to create a relatively flat long space the entire length. You can probably make one yourself, though i've not thought about how to do so exactly. You will lose a tiny bit of space of course, udnerneath teh platform, but it's meaningless amount i'd say
I am 243 miles in. Thank you for the update. I just ordered the Air Compressor, as a back up. Great suggestion. Have not yet experienced the need for the parking break or audio issue. I miss the fog lights, hopefully there will be an official Honda upgrade path, for those that want the dealer to install.
All of you are going to regret not having a spare tire if you have a nasty flat or blow out. If you're going on long trips where you're in the middle of nowhere, you're going to need one, trust me. No amount of air pressure or sealant will save you. (speaking from experience)
Thank you for the great video. I have this car in radiant red and love it. Going in next week for the emissions software upgrade. Hey if anyone cares, lift up your cup holder rubber pad. You will find holes that go through the center console. Should you ever spill anything in the cup holder it will go down and under your center console. I trimmed the small legs off the rubber cup holder mat with a razor blade. Then I used Teflon tape to cover all the holes in the bottom of the cup holder that the rubber mat legs used to sit in. ( This will make sense when you see it.) Then remove the 10mm bolt, put a dab of silicon in the bolt pocket and reinsert the bolt. Last step, put rubber cup holder mat back in place. This mod works for modest spills. Lol .. this sounds more complicated then it is.
My 2020 Honda CRV Touring Hybrid has 163,000 miles on it and still works as good as the day I bought it. No weird noises and no mechanical issues. Still getting 38MPG overall and the AWD is super useful on back roads and Sunday morning coffee on the beach, yes in Florida you can drive on the beaches.
My policy is to avoid dealerships that mark up over MSRP. I also found that it's worthwhile to call around to different dealerships when researching service/repair prices. I've saved a lot of money over the decades checking with 3 dealerships on pricing anything, including the vehicles. I used to own two Acuras, Nissans, Fords, Toyotas and Chevys, and even if I had to drive 30 - 45 minutes to another dealership it would sometimes be worth it in savings.
Love your Updates! I'm about 5.5k miles behind you and its good to know what I might be getting myself into down the road! Hope you keep doing this! Your so spot on with the ride. I HATE riding in other cars now and also always offer to drive. I feel so in my own world when I'm driving. Cabin is super quiet with minimal road noise. Like a luxury suv without the price tag.
The word "issues" is doing a lot of work here. I'm watching and I'm thinking "design choices I don't agree with" and "nitpicks" for most of these. The audio bug is definitely an issue, but it would be hard to diagnose (maybe a software update is incoming) along with the weird LKAS warning bug. The screw in the tire is absolutely not an issue specific to the CR-V.

I have a sport hybrid awd, at about 1500 miles averaging 38.5+/-. I drive on B-mode & Normal most of the time for daily commuting (50/50 city/highway), so it is consistent with EPA rating. Since owning a hybrid, it has changed my driving habits (in a good way). I’m not implying I’m compromising the joy of driving, just driving smarter. I like the B-mode because it is easy regen and it helps to trigger the EV more frequently especially when cruising towards a stoplight instead of applying brakes. I also realized that this ICE rpm does not correspond to the car’s acceleration. The best way I can describe is to trust the pedal and feel the torque of the electric motor to move the car. I haven’t tried much of Eco-mode for gas efficiency, but I believe it benefits most during highway driving. As soon as I arrived at city streets, I go back to Normal-mode. @@johnnynguyen9449 From my understanding based on articles, the regen braking is done by engine braking, not brake pads. I do not know the mechanics of engine braking, but I am pretty sure it is not brake pads.Aside from downhill, it worked very well on stop n go driving (for me). The only thing I am not sure of is whether B-Mode engine braking triggers the brake lights. If it does not, then for safety reasons, I may contemplate switching back to Drive-Mode.
@@BC-5888 yea no I just got in and tried it out there’s no “engine braking” evolved Gear B is just pad braking and you can control the intensity of the braking by using the paddle shifter, “engine braking” is when you just let off the gas pedal and it slows down but that’s still not a true engine brake found in heavy duty pick up trucks.
The winter gasoline blend will typically give a ~10% lower mpg than the summer blend. This gasoline switch over time is dependent on your location. It typically occurs around March/April for switching back to the summer blend. In addition, lower mpg will also occur if the gas contains 10-15% ethanol.
@@DrHondaCRV I used Costco gas most of the time. Every winter up to late March/early April, the mpg of my suv dropped ~10% and then magically returned back to normal starting in May.
The cold also decreases gas mileage. I live in MN, I lose about 3-4 mpg in winter. And of course Lise some warming up the car when it’s single digits or below 0.
Thanks for your honest review , it really clears my view on completely unplugging honda from my life after 23 years being a loyal customer to them always early waiting for next new product, clearly declining product quality for the price paid, I have a video of my previous gen brand new car rattling sound from the dash and sold it after 4.5 years for the following cons 1. Poor Quality of Plastics knee area driver left knee and driver right knee hump causing discomfort in stop and go traffic grinding the knee. 2.Very cheap carpet through the car prone to tear the anchoring clips. 3.Boot Area plastics where very cheap and horandously cheap plastics to be carefuly about being torn with any cargo that is even slighly sharp. 4.Just 2 Airbags in EX model 5. Inferior quality of Seats very narrow and poor cushion density which collapsed in an year and this was truely the factory which was one of the cause for my final decission coudly not have suffered enough. 6. Expensive spares and Maintence and inavaibility of parts with the dealer and Always had to wait for a month or two and the explotation of service due to monopoly in the market with one dealer by which the service and brand image cannot be improved due to lack of competition and it was evedent the dealer was exploting the prices on spares and service. 7. Horrible Sound Insulation was very bad with road noise , tyre noise. 8. Door Rubber Beadings shrinking despiting of replacing then twice one in warranty and once by paying for it how can honda R&D simulate a test for torrid heat conditions had this can shrink ? 9.Roof Metal was very thin and cleaning the car with water pressure or cloth for bird dropping had to be careful being afraid of the dents. 10. Seat Belts retraction pulling was stiff legacy type and the lock clips where failing and showing premature signs of aging. 11. The infortainment was getting outdated and making the screen unusuage with no updates. 12. Small Battery frequency battery changes due to quick drain for some un known reason. 13.Window roll hiting the frame when closing the windows resulting it bad sound since brand new. 14. Break Feel was very unnatural. 15. It was hard to beleive such low quality cushions for the elbows for driver and passengers which by time feels so hard these are tou h points for comfort. No cushion in door pads 16. The door handles on the inner side feel cheap compared to previous generation which whete stronger and the grab handles had ruberized texture which shows sign of quality. 15 The support rod for bonnet goes into a metal slot in the hood which is very cheap and prone to bending when remove and stowed.

Get the RAV4. For the same money you’ll get more. Especially if you get the Touring vs Limited. For the same money in the RAV4 you’d get heated and ventilated front seats, heated back seats, and possibly a panoramic sunroof.
I just purchased this vehicle this week over the RAV4 because the interior and exterior looks a lot better..more interior room and better hybrid driving experience
A bumper hitch and 4-pin tow connector were $1000 installed at my local dealership. Only Tows 1000 Lbs in hybrid trim (1500 for the gas-only models) but I need to take stuff to the dump, use a bike holder, and move stuff to the storage unit from time to time so worth it for me.
I went with the new Accord Sport touring instead. I haven't had any issues other than some rattles, but I had the dealer address it and now it's perfect. I'm getting about 42mpg in it too on average

As an owner of a 24 CRV. Majority of your complaints are valid. The back up camera one, shows you the width of the car with the yellow lines. The horn and reverse sound is terrible. The reverse sound is much quieter on the accord hybrid.
Thanks for the video. I just bought the gas version. No spare tire in the hybrid is one of a few deal breakers for me. Your side mirrors could probably be moved out a bit more. Visibility is a combination of rear view mirror, side mirrors and turning your head. In most cars you can get almost 100% visibility on a car passing you if your side mirrors are out further (without turning your head).

I own exactly the same trim 2023 CR-V as on this video, got mine among the first ones back in December 2022, and I got to say that current Honda built quality has disappointed me. Coating of the inside portions of the doors is so poor that I got corrosion in 4 months old car, March of 2023! This is unacceptable! Went to my local dealership to claim the warranty repairs. While they were fixing it, I've been curious and went on their lot to check a few brand new CR-V's for the same area, and unfortunately, same poor coating and uneven gaps on the hood/fenders area, the lift gate and side panels as well! And lastly, what the service department manager told me about those findings shocked me! His words exactly " It's okay for the mass production vehicles" Previously, I had spent hours on the phone with the American Honda call center about this issue trying to get someone in the quality control management, but unfortunately they've said that there is no such one, so that's probably why Honda manufacturing going down in the quality I guess? So sad experience. Beware, and check on those things at the time of purchase! P.S. in addition, just a few months later, in November of 2023, two more corrosion spots showed up on both rear door hinges, took it back to the dealer and they "fixed" them by painting with the touch up pencil over corrosion spots. I'm done with it and just sold it. No more Hondas for me until they improve quality.
The hum that you hear when you back up has been legislated on electric vehicles to alert blind people, since the car cannot be heard while in electric mode! In some cases, they have mandated for cars while driving below 40Km so that blind people do not cross the step in front of an EV.
From what I was told, as for the spare tires, a lot of new cars don't come with spares. But I was also told because it's a hybrid, the battery is under the trunk which gives it no space to put spare. Nice review overall though
I have been driving the 2023 CRV Touring Hybrid for almost 7 months now and have no complaints except for the horn... it sucks!!! But great gas mileage. It's highly recommended!!! Test drive one today so you will know.
I pulled up next to a creeper in the fast lane and honked! It was embarrassing! I've ordered a kit to install the low horn. Hope it is as loud as they say!
I have a 2 month old 2023 CR-V AWD Hybrid Sport. My mileage when driving in D and ECO Mode in mixed highway/city is about 36-37 mpg. I never got any notice of a recall, so I guess the car was built with the software update already included. The mandated hybrid noise maker in reverse and low speeds going forward was very irritating, so I installed a 4 ohm resistor in place of the speaker, and I don't get any warnings on the dash and the car is quiet. Those ready to inform me about potential liability of not having the noisemaker, save your posts - I am a risk taker. I am not a fan of the factory black painted wheels, so I found a wheel vendor that stocks dealer wheel take offs. I traded in my black wheels and plus some cash and now have 2023 factory non hybrid silver wheels. Just a personal preference.

I wish you good luck with adding fog lights but be very careful that it will not interfere with your original electrical warranty. I was also considering the same solution but the dealer told me it might effect my original honda warranty. I'm very disappointed and ended up getting the new toyota rav4 hybrid. Fog lights and spare tire are lifesavers for me.
I agree with your review of the wireless charger. I ended up 3d printing a plate with a MagSafe charger that fits over the Honda wireless charger. Besides the faster charging, it also ensures my iPhone 13 Pro Max doesn't move off the charger.
11:11 You can set the parking break to activate when you out the vehicle in park automatically. Its not in the setttings on the infotainment. I think you turn the car off and then hold the parking break button up for 5 seconds.
@@johnson643 the best and and simple way is move the lever to park keep your foot on the brake paddle then press or pull the e-brake then release the brake
Not only do you loose the spare, on the Hybrid AWD sport touring (top of the line) you also loose the the lug wrench, jack and handle. Apparently they will do anything to save money. The the 21 Prius prime limited qi charger shut off in about 60 seconds with either galaxy s21 or iPHONE 12 with an Otterbox defender pro case on.
I have the same car and I absolutely love it. The only things I wish I could change are having a collapsing spare tire and I also have issues with the lane assist. I turned off lane assist but it still warns me falsely that I am departing my lane or the roadway and scares the hell out of you while simultaneously pulling on the steering wheel and fighting you. Tar lines on the road, skid marks, and disappearing edge lines all cause these false warnings. They have some work to do on that system.
Just bought a very low mileage 2009 CR-V took it in to the dealership to have the oil changed and the first words out of their mouths when I said it was a 2009 oh you got one of the good ones
As to the reverse sound, I think I’d rather hear a slightly loud choir of angels then an extremely loud beep like you hear on panel vans and municipal trucks. Thanks for this great review and considerations. It’ll give me pause for perspective during our first 5000 miles.
Good point on the E-brake. In any type of auto with e-brake, not a bad practice to activate the parking brake while you still have your foot on the brake. (Foot on brake, shift to park, activate e-brake, take foot off brake.) If you set it after you take your foot off the brake, you've already rolled and put the strain on the transmission. In some cars, that makes it clunk or feel more difficult to shift out of P. Can anyone weigh in on whether the cross bars adjust? This seems insane if they don't. Fog lights. Sheesh. It seems to be a trend. Even on an Acura RDX, you have to go up to a high trim level to get fog lights. Not even offered as a option you can add (Honda or Acura). I get it that the "modern" LED lights are supposed to be spiffy, but I live where we get plenty of fog, and there is no substitute for some low mounted lights with a wide beam pattern that you can use on the rain darkened roadways and in the actual fog. Disappointing to see many manufacturers of "SUVs". neglect this. A big reason I'm shopping SUV instead of sedan is for better winter capability - ground clearance, traction, and for my aging eyes, sitting higher so a bit less glare at night. Then they leave OFF fog lights? The wiper hitting the edge of the hood is ridiculous. What is Honda thinking? And while the wash fluid coming out the blade might be better for distributing the liquid across the glass, it would seem that the huge number of cycles of flex and UV degradation would make this ripe for failure after a few years. Spare tire. Yeah, bad. Horrible trade off. Get the 1.5L turbo version if you want a spare, or buy the after market. Great detailed review for anyone seriously considering a CRV. I'm right there with you on sunroofs.
I had left a deposit to buy the 2023 hybrid sport touring because I fell in love . But I canceled it because it doesn't have fog lights and a spare tyre even on the top trim. These reasons were the deal breaker. I owned a 2017 honda pilot which had a Sideview camera and it was a great help. But I was so much disappointed because Honda removed that camera from new cars. With my impaired vision all these things are lifesavers. Very disappointed.
Actually modern LEDs obviate the need for fogs. I had both fogs and LEDs on my last car and truthfully the dipped headlights were better than the fogs. I know people want them, and I’m inclined that way too, emotionally, but the reality is different. I agree about spare wheels, I feel more secure with one, even though they are rare now. Surround cameras are nice, but good reversing cameras and mirrors do pretty much the same job in my experience.
Thanks overall… this is very useful. Confirms my decision to pass on this vehicle - mediocre lighting, plastic gas pedal, bad wiper system, and lack of real spare tire are deal breakers and I don’t like the dash. $49K Seems very high for this vehicle.
49 is literally meaning only deeply ignorant buyers will buy it at this price. It's not worth more than about 41 or 43 i would guess? Ppl need to wake up to reality. Next summer or winter we'll be able to get much more car for 49, and cars of this calibre will be, i think, back to normal, ie 36ish

i noticed that outside temperature plays a huge role in mpg. for example when i drive on the highways in the early morning hours or the late evening hours when its the coldest outside and when there is no traffic, mpg drops significantly to as low as 28. during the afternoon or early evening when its the warmest and there is moderate to heavy traffic on the highways, it easily gets 39-41+ mpg.
Do you have your heater on when it is cold outside? I have noticed that having the heater (A/C) on when it is cool out causes the engine to run when it would otherwise not be necessary, which decreases your MPGs.
These are not deal breakers for me. We love our 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport. The issues you mentioned are small complaints. The dealer made us well aware that there is no spare tire. The Rav4 Hybrid also doesn't have a spare. We love the design, roominess, and comfort over the Rav4, plus the ride is so quiet compared to our old 2006 Honda Pilot we just replaced. We're happy owners despite the nitpicking in this video.
You should tuck your dash camera wires on the other side of the pillar. You can pull back the weather striping along the door where the pillar is. There you can easily tuck the wires there and you wont have to see them on your dash.
I agree, I done that for my 2 channel dash cam and you don't see any wiring except where id drops from the header to the cam itself. I hard wired mine so I can use the parking mode. The rear takes a little more work because i had to drop the headliner to get to the bypass to the hatch. There are many videos on youtube to follow that.
You can turn on the auto high-beam light function. In bad weather or dark roads, the high-beam light will automatically be on to illuminate the road. And if there is another car coming towards you or when the car comes to a well-lit area, the beam light will automatically turn off. I found this very helpful.
I have a brand new 2024 CRV Sport Hybrid L, less than a week old. Love everything about the car but the wireless charger is just like this video describes, hard to get it to hold the amber light charge, inconsistent. Otherwise none of the other issues in this video have been an issue for me but time will tell the tale!
#7, Reverse sound. Sorry, it is required by law. #8 E-brake. It's an option you can activate (pg 575 owner's manual). Put the car in park, and *_don't_* press the brake pedal. Then pull up and release the parking brake lever. Immediately pull it up again and hold. When you hear two beeps, the automatic parking brake is set. Repeat (different number of beeps) to de-activate. The parking brake will be set when you power the car off, and will release when you press the gas in drive or reverse. [Aside gripe. I have the 2018 Accord, with the push button shifter that most reviewers didn't like because it was different. Besides being easier and allowing more space, you didn't have to shift into park, either. Powering down shifted into park, and set the parking brake.] Actual MPG are affected by (A) how many short trips you take, since the engine runs to warm the engine and battery up, and (B) changing speeds rapidly which messes with the battery strategy. And the computer mpg is probably more consistent (after adjusting for that 1mpg high you say it averages) unless you average the pump measurement over three or four tanks. This is because pumps shut off at different points.
Why does it do it while driving though. It’s horrid and loud! It’s also not necessary when backing up. They’re supposed to be looking…. For your car not listening😄. Also the horn works, I used to beep my baby horn on my Prius and Niro.
Excellent video. I don't have a CRV yet but are seriously considering it. We use Dupont 303 Protectant on the vinyl and rubber surfaces of our current vehicles. Don't sweat the mileage. There are lots of factors to consider. Weight of vehicle, tire pressure, outside temperature, etc., so long as it is in the ballpark I would not worry about it. Wish it had a spare, and direct injection engines can be problematic if the valves get gummed up. Some engines are prone to it. Never had a problem with my DI VW engine, but others have.
This is my 3rd hybrid. I’ve had a Prius and a Niro. have 1550 miles on my 2023 CRV Sport Touring. It’s already in the shop making odd buzzing noises from the battery. Brakes squeaking like a sad puppy. It whines horribly….yes I know they want people to know the car is there but its been getting louder and louder everyday. It’s extremely annoying! You can hear it over the radio sometimes. At this price point the luxury is almost completely absent….it actually IS absent. I can’t think of anything that’s great. No 360 camera. No ventilated seats. The middle vents can’t be turned off (what the stupid). The sunroof with the manual slide? The absence of a spare!! The Bose system that doesn’t sound like one. Mileage… 33mpg, I get around 420 miles on a full tank…I used to get 450 miles on my 6 cylinder 2012 Odyssey. The best I can hope for is it will be reliable…it not looking great at the moment😢
A couple of comments. Absolutely hate pop up screens on all cars today. So glad my 18 RAV4 Hybrid XLE has in dash screen. That horn may not meet federal safety standards for minimum decibels. Don't know but it may not. I am a low tech guy so don't use anything I don't need to. I still use a flip phone. Never hooked up bluetooth, never opened the sunroof (most useless thing ever put on a car), never use any gear except R P N and D, etc., etc. Old school and love it. And I never get distracted with all the tech stuff. Try it, You may like it. One thing I absolutely love-SIRIUS radio.
For the wipers. Turn off the car, or make sure the car was off. Push and keep pushed the windshield wiper lever up until the wipers raise vertically in your windshield. It is also good if you park in a freezing night so the wipers don't get stuck to the windshield. Honda had to do something about it, since the reason you're hitting your hood with them it's because they sit too low in order to be more aerodynamic and avoid noise while driving at high speed.
Thank you for the small-mirror upgrade suggestion. What this really helps including parking is parking next to the curve and avoiding curve-rash. Saves damages on your wheels as well as the extra need to prop open the door to see whether your car is lined-up with the parking lines.
Wiper needs to be put into service mode position before you raise the wipers. It is tucked in under the hood to reduce drag. It is definitely not a bad design.
@@jgloc25Page 617 in manual. Power mode ON, then OFF. Within 10 seconds of OFF, hold wiper switch to MIST position for more than 2 seconds. Not very intuitive IMHO!
@matthewmcgee Yup, learned of it too in anither review. In this mode, what does it allow then... to raise the wiper arm backwards? Sorry, just trying to imagine, as I dont have this yet.
@@jgloc25 I think the service position is just so you can tilt the wiper arm farther from the windshield to replace the blades. When stopped in the regular position, you cannot tilt the wiper arm all the way, it hits the edge of the hood (shown in video). I assume the wiper arm is located slightly below the hood edge for aerodynamics and the hinge angle just didn't allow the arm to clear the hood edge.

Thanks for pointing these issues out. I was thinking some of these (minor) issues could be an overlook due to a rush production after pandemic to keep up with the buyer/dealer supply demand so their quality control was lacking.
You did a great job in pointing out some of the issues that you personally don’t care for and hopefully, they’ll be addressed soon by Honda and other manufacturers. My sister just bought the 2024 CR-V Sport-L hybrid and it’s such a comfortable ride! Her biggest gripe was that Honda only offered one interior color for the white car…black. It’s ridiculous that you don’t have a choice between a dark or lighter interior. Way to go once again for manufacturers controlling costs and customer choices. 😡 (BTW, our new Lincoln’s charging pad doesn’t really work either. Could that be a problem for most of the wireless charging pads out there?)
Possible deal breaker here would be not having run-flat tires and no spare tire. I'd be really hesitant to go on a long road trip with this vehicle. Around town would be fine. Wish you would have commented on Apple CarPlay and the Nav / Infotainment screen. Is Apple CarPlay wired or wireless in these newer CR-V's and how well does it work? Too bad Honda still uses a tiny low-res Nav / Infotainment screen when most everyone else has gone more upscale --- especially at these inflated prices. For this kind of money I'd want a bigger screen with better resolution. Wife -might- get a new CR-V in 2024 to replace her 2013. Prior to that she a 2009 CR-V so we obviously love that vehicle. But at current prices and with more competition we're open to researching others especially Mazda. No interest in Hyundia / Kia. RAV-4 is OK but noisy and rough riding. Or we might go for a non-Hybrid CR-V and live w/o some of the features - but have a spare tire! Thanks.
Hey! Its wireless car play. I love the screen its clean and HD to me. Definitely nicer and more modern than the Rav4. If you’re looking for a mid size suv. It’s either RAV4 CRV or the Mazda. All great choices. I personally think the rav interior is outdated. And the mazda looks like you’re driving a shoe 👞 haha. But pick whats best for you! A 12 inch screen would be really nice. The 9 is good enough. The 7in is disrespectful in 2023. Hyundai kia shouldn’t be legal to sell given their issues. Check out my older videos for infotainment walk through. There is a 2 second delay for inputs. But that is intentional to prevent drivers from watching shows and social media while driving. Music works great. Bass on the bose system is amazing.
I bought the sport touring and was a little worried about no spare tire. Then I realized I probably haven’t had a flat tire outside of my driveway for about 30 years. And I do have roadside assistance if I should need it.
If these are dealbreakers for anyone they will have a tough time finding a vehicle to suit them. These aren’t any different than in any in the segment. You’re overthinking the backup camera. It’s a wide view to help you see things that may be just off center. It’s not an actual view of how wide the vehicle is. As far as parking line up all the lines and you’ll be perfectly in the spot. It’s literally that easy. As far as the wipers they usually have a service position which will have them at their highest setting so you can change them. How you get it there may be different depending on your vehicle. Should be able to locate that in the manual. As far as the electronic e-brake I believe there is a setting to have it come on automatically. Unfortunately on the CRV I believe it doesn’t come on until the vehicle is turned off. So if you leave your foot on the brake till you turn the vehicle off you won’t get that back and forth before it’s applied.
I once test-drove a new Toyota Camry over to the Honda dealer to compare them side-by-side. I had noticed the Honda Accord was more solid than the Toyota. The salesman told me to push down on the Honda to feel how it rebounded, then did the same to the Toyota. The Honda returned a firm rebound. The Toyota left with a dent in the hood. I took the Toyota back to the dealer and told them I didn't want it because it had a dent. I bought the Honda.
My wife bought one of these a month ago. And we are starting to discover the quirks of the car as well. Overall we like it but I think we should have skipped it due to it being a new model.

The air spoiler holds water. When you wash the vehicle, it leaks lines down the back window. This is my 3rd CR-V. Honda seems to always have several maddening issues with every model. Really looking at one. But the lack of fogs and the no spare concern me. The lack of spare seems to be the norm with hybrids and its ok for city driving but the lack of fogs just confuses me.

Hubby changed out the clown horn with two horns (low and high tones...there is a spot on passenger side for the second horn). Not sure how he did it, but he was able to lower the volume of that hum, but not so low that people cannot hear it on the outside. I have no issue with my phone sliding on the wireless charger pad. I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra. I think the case grips the pad better than some other cases. Mine is a Spigen Tough Armor case. It does charge slow for sure, though.
Honda recently has quite a bit of QC issues. I had a 2012 Civic that got totalled at 203K, almost mechanically trouble free with the AC compressor that died around 80K, the starter that died at 80K, and a passenger power window motor that died around 37K. Honda QC has gone down a bit because American Honda top management has cut corners here and there. I am switching back to Toyota because I do not like turbo charged engines. They do not last as long as a non turbo charged engine.
There is a recall on 2023 CRV and accord. I had my recall taken call of today. They did a software update. Ask you dealer about it. The recall is on the hybrid model which you got.
I have a 2020 Honda hybrid Touring and I fixed the charging problem by adding a black foam piece using contact cement to keep my phone in one place. Works perfectly fine after that 👍🏽
Just bought one last Tuesday and the blind spot on the drivers side is horrific! I almost side swiped 4 times now. I literally had to turn my mirror all the way out just to see.
My brother bought the new redesigned CRV and when he came to visit I thought it was a Toyota and a bigger SUV like a 4Runner. My brother drove 8 hours with 5 adults in the SUV and I didn't hear anyone complaining it had been too cramped when they arrived. I like the new look.
I bought my 2023 in December last year. I love it but the only thing that really annoys me is the stop start feature. I hate it that the engine shuts off when I come to a start. I know they say you can disable this but it does not stay disabled.
Thanks for this very comprehensive review. I'm sure it will be very reliable. There were not any available when I had to purchase a car immediately, and although Honda is very reliable, I was less than excited to buy another Honda even if one had been available. I had a 2010 Honda Civic for 12 years. It always started every morning, but there were some major repairs I had to have done on the car. For example, the heater core had to be replaced, which was a rather expensive repair, and it made the car almost impossible to drive because the windows would immediately fog up, and I had to keep wiping them with a cloth as I drove to be able to see out of the vehicle. I've never had that happen on any other car I've owned. There was also a problem with the paint, so the topcoat wore off over most of the car, and I missed the deadline for the recall on that. It happened after the time to get it fixed was up. I also never liked the wipers. Even when changed, the blades often did not work well on the driver's side. Not long after the dealer replaced the heater core, the engine idle also became rough, so much so, that the car would rattle until it warmed up or until I started driving. Moreover, the seats were extremely uncomfortable, and I couldn't wait to get out of the car after driving it for 25 miles. Shorter drives were fine. For these reasons, plus bad experiences with the dealer, although the car was otherwise reliable, I appreciated the car, but I did not love it the way I did my previous Toyota. Toyotas for 2023 were overpriced and unavailable, so I had to go with a totally different make, one less reliable than Honda or Toyota. Thus far I enjoy driving my new car, and I have no problems with it. The seats are also very comfortable, and it has a spare tire. It is not hybrid, but it gets 29-33 miles around town and as high as 43.4 MPG on the expressway. Whether I will have transmission problems down the line remains to be seen. But I appreciate your video which shows the pros and cons of the Honda CRV, so I'm informed for the future if I do have problems and need to trade the car in for a new one. By the way, many car dealers leave off fog lights on most of their trim levels. Yet they include them on the same trim levels for Canada. I don't know why they feel they can leave them off for the U.S. when customers clearly want them. Also, I looked it up. It says break-in oil should be used for 500-1000 miles. And I would be very, very surprised if the dealer will let you change the oil more often than the recommended intervals for free. With my Civic, the oil changes were never really free because they would always force me to have something else done on the car when I brought it in for an oil change, and that would always cost me way too much money.
Is anyone bothered by the rear seatbelt bulge in the ceiling on the driver side? Since it’s only on one side, it’s triggering my OCD. I want to buy a CRV, but I’m having trouble with accepting this huge cyst! Seems like they didn’t consider how symmetry (or the lack thereof) can affect us. Some advice from those who already have the vehicle would help.
I love nit-picky reviews like this. These are the type of things that can be deal breakers for many people and most car reviewers will never cover. I have noticed most of these and they are annoying. I would be less critical of my Sport-L if it was a cheaper vehicle. I also noticed that the armrests and center console are pretty hard on my elbows. Secondly, the passenger seat doesn't have that many adjustments and the rear seats are not heated. I'm satisfied with it for now, but cars are getting too expensive for what they offer.
Yep, Honda had them in the previous two generations of CR-V (2012-2022) and not sure why they removed them. Even Toyota had them at one point but removed them as well. I don’t understand why car companies sometimes remove useful features for no apparent reason…lol

The tint isn't dark as you may think. I have a tint on my windshield, it is 70 or 80% and practically transparent, sometimes I forget myself I had it tinted. Noone is able to tell there is a tint unless I tell them. So what he's complaining about could be valid.
Tint can save your dash from future cracking issues, helps keep heat out, and gives you less glare from on coming traffic. Don't knock it till you try it.
@@canabisquickGet a dash mat to protect your dash, a sun guard when it's parked to keep heat out. And keep your windshield clear so you can see out of it properly. Some states windshield tint is illegal below the AS1 line on the windshield. It also makes it harder, sometimes impossible for other drivers and pedestrians to see you and communicate at intersections or in parking lots. You can't see the driver and what they are looking at. Any reduction in viewing ability is dangerous. Please tell me more about the superficial positives that outweigh safety?
There are a two shades of tint. One is transparent or nearly transparent, the other is the dark which usually young kids get to be cool. Most adults don't get the dark because we value jobs and family. You're throwing the two into one bucket Patrick.

The rav4 door inside grab is not good , difficult to grab. The rear doors open too small. Honda has the biggest door opening. Rav4 is good vehicle with more feathers. Honda better quality

@@andyli724 I really want a new Honda Element but since they are not made anymore, I had to look. Came down to the CR-V Sport Hybrid or the Toyota RAV4 Woodland hybrid. They are both good. I thought the Toyota looks better on exterior and Honda on the interior. CR-V drives a bit better .The RAV4 gets better Mileage even with the all terrain tires the Woodland has. The door handles are fine for me and long arms. I also don't expect anyone to sit behind me as I am solo 99%of the time. If Honda still made an Element this would be a no brainier but I had to go look and the RAV4 met my needs a bit better. Cheers!
I chose the Rav 4 over the CRV last month because of the difference in engines. Honda has lost me as a customer because of the new ultra small turbocharged engines. Not a smart move.
@@DrHondaCRV yes I know the hybrid doesn’t use a turbo. That would be incredibly odd. I wasn’t talking about the Hybrid. The standard engines are dinky turbo charged models. Honda has gone to that over a decent sized engine and it’s a mistake. Shorter life span and more problems/more expensive to maintain.
5000 mile oil change is correct. The oil minder is a joke. Btw...original oil is no longer any different from normal oil. Thats the old way. Its just the same oil. The is no additional additives like some will tell you. Doesn't hurt to do the first change early. May be beneficial actually. My dealer did mine at 2500 for the first, then every 5k after.
Two months into driving our new 2024 Hybrid CRV E-CVT. City MPG from 40 to 56 MPG, Highway MPG at 60 MPH is 43-45 MPG and at 70 MPH drops to 83 MPG. Very short trips under 2 to 4 mile scan drop to 28-30 MPG then increase to 40 MPG plus after driving around 5 miles plus. Sold my 2017 CRV Touring to buy the 2024 CRV. The question is would buy the 2024 CRV Hybrid model again, YES.
Hey ZotZot! I've been following your videos when I was doing my research regarding the new CRV. We finally got one but in Sport trim which was enough for our needs. Mpg wise we're averaging 42-45mpg with city and highway combine. I baby it as it's still in its break in period (345 miles). Wish it did have a HUD, Fog lights and an option for 9 inch screen but still very satisfied with the vehicle.
Im almost at 700 miles. Sport Trim as well. How long would you consider the break in period to be? Typically I hear about 1000, but not sure with hybrids and this model. Going on a 4 hour trip soon, debating if it's too early to kick on the cruise control. Any advice? Thanks!
@@DrHondaCRV I will never cast aspersions on anyone, but the RAV4 Hybrid of mine has never achieved an average of 45mpg. And believe me the RAV4 hybrid is more fuel efficient than the Honda, but not by a lot. But like I said in my previous comment, the Honda 2023 CRV Hybrid is an awesome vehicle. Cheers.

Just a word about your E-Brake. Your car is equipped with an automatic e-brake feature that will automatically set the e-brake when you put the car in park, and disengage it when you take the car out of park. You can find it on page 575 of your owners manual on how to activate it. Thanks for taking the time to give us this informative review.

■ Activating and deactivating the automatic parking brake feature
With the power mode is in ON, carry out the following steps to either activate or

1. Put the transmission into (P.
2. Without depressing the brake pedal, pull up and release the electric parking brake
switch.
- Check that the parking brake and brake system indicator (red) has come on.
3. Pull up and hold the electric parking brake switch. When you hear a beeping
sound, release the switch and within three seconds pull up and hold the switch
again.
4. When you hear a sound indicating that the procedure is completed, release the
switch.
- Two beeps indicates that the feature has been activated.
- One beep indicates that the feature has been deactivated.
- When you have completed activating the feature, the parking brake will
remain applied after you turn the power system off.
- To confirm that the parking brake is applied, check if the parking brake and
brake system indicator (red) is on.
There is a lot more information regarding how to use the electronic parking brake in various conditions. Well worth the read if you own the car. Just go to Honda's website and search "manuals," then put in the information for your car. I don't even own one and it was super easy to look up this information.

@@scottgabbard662 You're very welcome. Sometimes explaining things in detail can at first look complicated. But it actually only takes a minute. You just have to focus, follow the instructions, and you're done. Well worth the time spent to not have to worry about whether or not the e-brake is getting set or not with whoever drives the car. Especially when parked on a hill, it prevents a lot of wear and tear on the transmission park pawl, preventing future damage and wear.

Try not to have a hang up about fuel efficiency. There’s a 101 variables. My RAV4 Adventure Hybrid started at 17.2 km / litre and now its 16.8 km / litre and I drive always in eco mode and very conservatively. I’m sure batteries degrade albeit extremely slowly mind you from day 1 of ownership. Your figures of 34-35 sounds very real world accurate to me. Don’t worry what other people say to you.
I don’t use my moonroof that much to be honest and from what I’ve heard most people don’t.
Honda and Toyota make the best Hybrids.

I had to return a brand new Rav4 for a shit ton of electrical and mechanical issues, 2 of which nearly got me into an accident. Super disappointed. I won't touch any models from 2021 and onward from Toyota because I have a sneaking suspicion that they're rush-building these cars to meet demand from the supply chain issue the pandemic caused. Like how in the fuck was there so much shit wrong with that car? Blew my mind. My only problem with the CRV-Hybrids is that they don't have a spare tire...it's actually a dealbreaker tbh. Are there earlier models that have a spare tire?

These are such small issues. More important issues, gas miles, transmission, engine, comfort, and safety are the most important.
I think the audio glitch isn't necessary Honda. You are using a third party system for calls. Why not use the car audio?
1.6l turbo wont make the engine last like toyotas 2.5l. cvt won't last like a regular automatic.

I agree. I have the sport touring and haven’t experienced most of the issues noted in this video. The horn is a little wimpy but I use it so rarely, it doesn’t bother me. As for the lights not being bright enough when very dark, I love that the brights turn on automatically so not an issue for me.

So I found your videos a day after I bought my brand new 2023 CR-V with only 93 miles on it. I now have 10k miles on it and this is what I've learned. I was in a position where I needed to get a car within a couple days due to work and moving. All I have to say is that I'm extremely disappointed with it. After having the car for roughly 3 months I have noticed a number of problems that I would consider to be deal breakers, and are motivating me to swap out this vehicle as soon as possible. First of all, NO SPARE TIRE! Like you mention in this video. One week into owning the vehicle I got a flat 3 hours away from home on a Saturday night. Popped the trunk only to find out that there was no spare to be had, and the included fix a flat can was unable to seal the hole. Thank god for the stranger who stopped with a plug kit and second can of fix a flat.
For the phone connectivity, the fact that it will only run the maps if physically plugged into the car is infuriating. On top of that the media system has frozen up multiple times and locked the map system until I pulled over and reset the car, or unplugged, re-plugged in, and reset the application. Not sure if that's cause I have an iPhone 8 or not. My average mileage was 33mpg for the first 7k miles, and just now at 10k miles in it has gotten up to 37/38mpg.
For people who like to go camping and off-roading I wouldn't recommend this vehicle. If you drive/live on a dirt road the car will throw alarms at you claiming lane departure because you aren't driving between the lines that don't exist. One of the more frustrating issues is the rear seat and trunk setup. I don't like that the rear seats don't lie flat with the trunk like in older models. There is a small lip about 5 inches of difference when you lie them flat, so you can't lie flat in the back to sleep as a mini camp setup. Also instead of having the seat behind the passenger be the wider portion to lie down, its the seat behind the driver. If you want to lay down this means that instead of moving the passenger seat you'll have to move the drivers seat and readjust it when you're ready to leave.
The "Roof racks" included are completely sealed to that you need to buy cross bars to actually tie anything down, which is frustrating if you wanted to use pool noodles to hold your kayaks. And good luck with any sort of roof bar or lift kit capability outside of the crazy expensive dealer only options.
And the last thing jumping to mind, and the most important is the "Lane Maintenance Assist" feature they have. It feels like its fighting me constantly, and has tried to follow the solid lines when the highway opens into on/off ramps. The has led to the car pulling me into another lane in an attempt to follow the lines when I've been trying to stay straight. This has happened a handful of times along with computer codes saying that it needs to be checked at service, only for nothing to be found.
Overall I'm not very happy with this iteration of the vehicle, It feels so far divorced from the original concept behind it. With a name that has Recreational Vehicle in it, it falls short of being capable of even moderate recreational activity unless the roads are paved and there is no need for clearance. I wish I went with a RAV-4 or the gas version of this vehicle. Sorry for the rant, but you seem like the best source on this model so far for reviews. Great videos, and keep up the good work!
What trim did you get? I got the EXL 2023 (non hybrid), I got zero issues with the ones you mentioned. The lane assist can be turned off easily on mine.
iPhone 8? Yes, your iPhone is too old. My 14 pro max runs google maps wirelessly fine.

Roof rails are aerodynamic & typical of luxury cars. Stock crossbars are easily added for $200 & are aero.
The RAV4 is a huge disappointment. No refinement, poor handling, buzzy engine, loud transmission, not sophisticated, pseudo rugged exterior, poor engineering execution & small interior.

totally understand your complaints. For the flagship and bread/butter car of Honda, this CRV hybrid is a mistake by them (though Honda has been making a series of mistakes globally over the past decade and losing marketshare in very competiive markets like Australia for example). This car SHOULD be the best out there, but the Rav4 hybrid ironically is much better, apparently, unless a person is rather tall, ie lanky and over 6, 1" i guess, then the Rav is cramped apparently. Personally my only gripe w/ the honda is the rear floor being SOOO not-flat: in this case, honda needs to sell cheaply a modifier board to create a relatively flat long space the entire length. You can probably make one yourself, though i've not thought about how to do so exactly. You will lose a tiny bit of space of course, udnerneath teh platform, but it's meaningless amount i'd say
I am 243 miles in. Thank you for the update. I just ordered the Air Compressor, as a back up. Great suggestion. Have not yet experienced the need for the parking break or audio issue. I miss the fog lights, hopefully there will be an official Honda upgrade path, for those that want the dealer to install.

All of you are going to regret not having a spare tire if you have a nasty flat or blow out. If you're going on long trips where you're in the middle of nowhere, you're going to need one, trust me. No amount of air pressure or sealant will save you. (speaking from experience)

Thank you for the great video. I have this car in radiant red and love it. Going in next week for the emissions software upgrade. Hey if anyone cares, lift up your cup holder rubber pad. You will find holes that go through the center console. Should you ever spill anything in the cup holder it will go down and under your center console. I trimmed the small legs off the rubber cup holder mat with a razor blade. Then I used Teflon tape to cover all the holes in the bottom of the cup holder that the rubber mat legs used to sit in. ( This will make sense when you see it.) Then remove the 10mm bolt, put a dab of silicon in the bolt pocket and reinsert the bolt. Last step, put rubber cup holder mat back in place. This mod works for modest spills. Lol .. this sounds more complicated then it is.

My 2020 Honda CRV Touring Hybrid has 163,000 miles on it and still works as good as the day I bought it. No weird noises and no mechanical issues. Still getting 38MPG overall and the AWD is super useful on back roads and Sunday morning coffee on the beach, yes in Florida you can drive on the beaches.
What hybrid engine does that model have? My dealer told me they only started making the new ecvt hybrid engines in 2023.
You make me glad I bought a 2023 RAV4. I’m very satisfied with it. My Rav even has a spare tire.

My policy is to avoid dealerships that mark up over MSRP. I also found that it's worthwhile to call around to different dealerships when researching service/repair prices. I've saved a lot of money over the decades checking with 3 dealerships on pricing anything, including the vehicles. I used to own two Acuras, Nissans, Fords, Toyotas and Chevys, and even if I had to drive 30 - 45 minutes to another dealership it would sometimes be worth it in savings.

The word "issues" is doing a lot of work here. I'm watching and I'm thinking "design choices I don't agree with" and "nitpicks" for most of these. The audio bug is definitely an issue, but it would be hard to diagnose (maybe a software update is incoming) along with the weird LKAS warning bug. The screw in the tire is absolutely not an issue specific to the CR-V.
Because of a lack of spare tire, he had to use a repair kit and stop for air (refilling twice), so it's still note worthy.

I have a sport hybrid awd, at about 1500 miles averaging 38.5+/-. I drive on B-mode & Normal most of the time for daily commuting (50/50 city/highway), so it is consistent with EPA rating. Since owning a hybrid, it has changed my driving habits (in a good way). I’m not implying I’m compromising the joy of driving, just driving smarter. I like the B-mode because it is easy regen and it helps to trigger the EV more frequently especially when cruising towards a stoplight instead of applying brakes. I also realized that this ICE rpm does not correspond to the car’s acceleration. The best way I can describe is to trust the pedal and feel the torque of the electric motor to move the car. I haven’t tried much of Eco-mode for gas efficiency, but I believe it benefits most during highway driving. As soon as I arrived at city streets, I go back to Normal-mode. why are you driving in B mode?? that wears down your brakes faster that only used if your going down a long hill
@@johnnynguyen9449 From my understanding based on articles, the regen braking is done by engine braking, not brake pads. I do not know the mechanics of engine braking, but I am pretty sure it is not brake pads.Aside from downhill, it worked very well on stop n go driving (for me). The only thing I am not sure of is whether B-Mode engine braking triggers the brake lights. If it does not, then for safety reasons, I may contemplate switching back to Drive-Mode.
@@BC-5888 yea no I just got in and tried it out there’s no “engine braking” evolved Gear B is just pad braking and you can control the intensity of the braking by using the paddle shifter, “engine braking” is when you just let off the gas pedal and it slows down but that’s still not a true engine brake found in heavy duty pick up trucks.
The winter gasoline blend will typically give a ~10% lower mpg than the summer blend. This gasoline switch over time is dependent on your location. It typically occurs around March/April for switching back to the summer blend.
In addition, lower mpg will also occur if the gas contains 10-15% ethanol.
What brand gas do you use?
@@DrHondaCRV I used Costco gas most of the time. Every winter up to late March/early April, the mpg of my suv dropped ~10% and then magically returned back to normal starting in May.
The cold also decreases gas mileage. I live in MN, I lose about 3-4 mpg in winter. And of course Lise some warming up the car when it’s single digits or below 0.

1. Poor Quality of Plastics knee area driver left knee and driver right knee hump causing discomfort in stop and go traffic grinding the knee.
2.Very cheap carpet through the car prone to tear the anchoring clips.
3.Boot Area plastics where very cheap and horandously cheap plastics to be carefuly about being torn with any cargo that is even slighly sharp.
4.Just 2 Airbags in EX model
5. Inferior quality of Seats very narrow and poor cushion density which collapsed in an year and this was truely the factory which was one of the cause for my final decission coudly not have suffered enough.
6. Expensive spares and Maintence and inavaibility of parts with the dealer and
Always had to wait for a month or two and the explotation of service due to monopoly in the market with one dealer by which the service and brand image cannot be improved due to lack of competition and it was evedent the dealer was exploting the prices on spares and service.
7. Horrible Sound Insulation was very bad with road noise , tyre noise.
8. Door Rubber Beadings shrinking despiting of replacing then twice one in warranty and once by paying for it how can honda R&D simulate a test for torrid heat conditions had this can shrink ?
9.Roof Metal was very thin and cleaning the car with water pressure or cloth for bird dropping had to be careful being afraid of the dents.
10. Seat Belts retraction pulling was stiff legacy type and the lock clips where failing and showing premature signs of aging.
11. The infortainment was getting outdated and making the screen unusuage with no updates.
12. Small Battery frequency battery changes due to quick drain for some un known reason.
13.Window roll hiting the frame when closing the windows resulting it bad sound since brand new.
14. Break Feel was very unnatural.
15. It was hard to beleive such low quality cushions for the elbows for driver and passengers which by time feels so hard these are tou h points for comfort.

16. The door handles on the inner side feel cheap compared to previous generation which whete stronger and the grab handles had ruberized texture which shows sign of quality.
15 The support rod for bonnet goes into a metal slot in the hood which is very cheap and prone to bending when remove and stowed.

Get the RAV4. For the same money you’ll get more. Especially if you get the Touring vs Limited. For the same money in the RAV4 you’d get heated and ventilated front seats, heated back seats, and possibly a panoramic sunroof.
I just purchased this vehicle this week over the RAV4 because the interior and exterior looks a lot better..more interior room and better hybrid driving experience
A bumper hitch and 4-pin tow connector were $1000 installed at my local dealership. Only Tows 1000 Lbs in hybrid trim (1500 for the gas-only models) but I need to take stuff to the dump, use a bike holder, and move stuff to the storage unit from time to time so worth it for me.
Gonna get mine from a rent a truck dealer. It will be almost 1/2 your cost you paid.
I went with the new Accord Sport touring instead. I haven't had any issues other than some rattles, but I had the dealer address it and now it's perfect. I'm getting about 42mpg in it too on average

As an owner of a 24 CRV. Majority of your complaints are valid. The back up camera one, shows you the width of the car with the yellow lines.
The horn and reverse sound is terrible. The reverse sound is much quieter on the accord hybrid.
Thanks for the video. I just bought the gas version. No spare tire in the hybrid is one of a few deal breakers for me. Your side mirrors could probably be moved out a bit more. Visibility is a combination of rear view mirror, side mirrors and turning your head. In most cars you can get almost 100% visibility on a car passing you if your side mirrors are out further (without turning your head).
Right. I actually use the blind spot mirrors to see more of the lower side of the road, like when backing up.

I own exactly the same trim 2023 CR-V as on this video, got mine among the first ones back in December 2022, and I got to say that current Honda built quality has disappointed me. Coating of the inside portions of the doors is so poor that I got corrosion in 4 months old car, March of 2023! This is unacceptable! Went to my local dealership to claim the warranty repairs. While they were fixing it, I've been curious and went on their lot to check a few brand new CR-V's for the same area, and unfortunately, same poor coating and uneven gaps on the hood/fenders area, the lift gate and side panels as well!
And lastly, what the service department manager told me about those findings shocked me! His words exactly " It's okay for the mass production vehicles"
Previously, I had spent hours on the phone with the American Honda call center about this issue trying to get someone in the quality control management, but unfortunately they've said that there is no such one, so that's probably why Honda manufacturing going down in the quality I guess? So sad experience. Beware, and check on those things at the time of purchase!
P.S. in addition, just a few months later, in November of 2023, two more corrosion spots showed up on both rear door hinges, took it back to the dealer and they "fixed" them by painting with the touch up pencil over corrosion spots. I'm done with it and just sold it. No more Hondas for me until they improve quality.

The hum that you hear when you back up has been legislated on electric vehicles to alert blind people, since the car cannot be heard while in electric mode! In some cases, they have mandated for cars while driving below 40Km so that blind people do not cross the step in front of an EV.
I noticed it was very loud on the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid I test drive the other day. Thanks for pointing out this may be a standard requirement.
From what I was told, as for the spare tires, a lot of new cars don't come with spares. But I was also told because it's a hybrid, the battery is under the trunk which gives it no space to put spare. Nice review overall though

I have a 2 month old 2023 CR-V AWD Hybrid Sport. My mileage when driving in D and ECO Mode in mixed highway/city is about 36-37 mpg. I never got any notice of a recall, so I guess the car was built with the software update already included. The mandated hybrid noise maker in reverse and low speeds going forward was very irritating, so I installed a 4 ohm resistor in place of the speaker, and I don't get any warnings on the dash and the car is quiet. Those ready to inform me about potential liability of not having the noisemaker, save your posts - I am a risk taker. I am not a fan of the factory black painted wheels, so I found a wheel vendor that stocks dealer wheel take offs. I traded in my black wheels and plus some cash and now have 2023 factory non hybrid silver wheels. Just a personal preference.

I wish you good luck with adding fog lights but be very careful that it will not interfere with your original electrical warranty. I was also considering the same solution but the dealer told me it might effect my original honda
warranty. I'm very disappointed and ended up getting the new toyota rav4 hybrid. Fog lights and spare tire are lifesavers for me.

I agree with your review of the wireless charger. I ended up 3d printing a plate with a MagSafe charger that fits over the Honda wireless charger. Besides the faster charging, it also ensures my iPhone 13 Pro Max doesn't move off the charger.

11:11 You can set the parking break to activate when you out the vehicle in park automatically. Its not in the setttings on the infotainment. I think you turn the car off and then hold the parking break button up for 5 seconds.

I was told the proper way to use the e brake is to put the car in neutral, use the e brake, and then place it in park.

Not only do you loose the spare, on the Hybrid AWD sport touring (top of the line) you also loose the the lug wrench, jack and handle. Apparently they will do anything to save money. The the 21 Prius prime limited qi charger shut off in about 60 seconds with either galaxy s21 or iPHONE 12 with an Otterbox defender pro case on.
I have the same car and I absolutely love it. The only things I wish I could change are having a collapsing spare tire and I also have issues with the lane assist. I turned off lane assist but it still warns me falsely that I am departing my lane or the roadway and scares the hell out of you while simultaneously pulling on the steering wheel and fighting you. Tar lines on the road, skid marks, and disappearing edge lines all cause these false warnings. They have some work to do on that system.
Just bought a very low mileage 2009 CR-V took it in to the dealership to have the oil changed and the first words out of their mouths when I said it was a 2009 oh you got one of the good ones
As to the reverse sound, I think I’d rather hear a slightly loud choir of angels then an extremely loud beep like you hear on panel vans and municipal trucks. Thanks for this great review and considerations. It’ll give me pause for perspective during our first 5000 miles.
Good point on the E-brake. In any type of auto with e-brake, not a bad practice to activate the parking brake while you still have your foot on the brake. (Foot on brake, shift to park, activate e-brake, take foot off brake.) If you set it after you take your foot off the brake, you've already rolled and put the strain on the transmission. In some cars, that makes it clunk or feel more difficult to shift out of P. Can anyone weigh in on whether the cross bars adjust? This seems insane if they don't. Fog lights. Sheesh. It seems to be a trend. Even on an Acura RDX, you have to go up to a high trim level to get fog lights. Not even offered as a option you can add (Honda or Acura). I get it that the "modern" LED lights are supposed to be spiffy, but I live where we get plenty of fog, and there is no substitute for some low mounted lights with a wide beam pattern that you can use on the rain darkened roadways and in the actual fog. Disappointing to see many manufacturers of "SUVs". neglect this. A big reason I'm shopping SUV instead of sedan is for better winter capability - ground clearance, traction, and for my aging eyes, sitting higher so a bit less glare at night. Then they leave OFF fog lights? The wiper hitting the edge of the hood is ridiculous. What is Honda thinking? And while the wash fluid coming out the blade might be better for distributing the liquid across the glass, it would seem that the huge number of cycles of flex and UV degradation would make this ripe for failure after a few years. Spare tire. Yeah, bad. Horrible trade off. Get the 1.5L turbo version if you want a spare, or buy the after market. Great detailed review for anyone seriously considering a CRV. I'm right there with you on sunroofs.
I had left a deposit to buy the 2023 hybrid sport touring because I fell in love . But I canceled it because it doesn't have fog lights and a spare tyre even on the top trim. These reasons were the deal breaker. I owned a 2017 honda pilot which had a Sideview camera and it was a great help. But I was so much disappointed because Honda removed that camera from new cars. With my impaired vision all these things are lifesavers. Very disappointed.
How often are you using spare tires? I'm truly flabbergasted that would matter to anyone. I haven't had to use a spare in 20 years of driving.
Actually modern LEDs obviate the need for fogs. I had both fogs and LEDs on my last car and truthfully the dipped headlights were better than the fogs. I know people want them, and I’m inclined that way too, emotionally, but the reality is different. I agree about spare wheels, I feel more secure with one, even though they are rare now. Surround cameras are nice, but good reversing cameras and mirrors do pretty much the same job in my experience.
Thanks overall… this is very useful. Confirms my decision to pass on this vehicle - mediocre lighting, plastic gas pedal, bad wiper system, and lack of real spare tire are deal breakers and I don’t like the dash. $49K Seems very high for this vehicle.

49 is literally meaning only deeply ignorant buyers will buy it at this price. It's not worth more than about 41 or 43 i would guess? Ppl need to wake up to reality. Next summer or winter we'll be able to get much more car for 49, and cars of this calibre will be, i think, back to normal, ie 36ish

i noticed that outside temperature plays a huge role in mpg. for example when i drive on the highways in the early morning hours or the late evening hours when its the coldest outside and when there is no traffic, mpg drops significantly to as low as 28. during the afternoon or early evening when its the warmest and there is moderate to heavy traffic on the highways, it easily gets 39-41+ mpg.
Do you have your heater on when it is cold outside? I have noticed that having the heater (A/C) on when it is cool out causes the engine to run when it would otherwise not be necessary, which decreases your MPGs.
Those cross bars will create drag and lower the fuel economy. I would remove them when not in use.

These are not deal breakers for me. We love our 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport. The issues you mentioned are small complaints. The dealer made us well aware that there is no spare tire. The Rav4 Hybrid also doesn't have a spare.
We love the design, roominess, and comfort over the Rav4, plus the ride is so quiet compared to our old 2006 Honda Pilot we just replaced. We're happy owners despite the nitpicking in this video.

You should tuck your dash camera wires on the other side of the pillar. You can pull back the weather striping along the door where the pillar is. There you can easily tuck the wires there and you wont have to see them on your dash.

I agree, I done that for my 2 channel dash cam and you don't see any wiring except where id drops from the header to the cam itself. I hard wired mine so I can use the parking mode. The rear takes a little more work because i had to drop the headliner to get to the bypass to the hatch. There are many videos on youtube to follow that.

You can turn on the auto high-beam light function. In bad weather or dark roads, the high-beam light will automatically be on to illuminate the road. And if there is another car coming towards you or when the car comes to a well-lit area, the beam light will automatically turn off. I found this very helpful.
I have a brand new 2024 CRV Sport Hybrid L, less than a week old. Love everything about the car but the wireless charger is just like this video describes, hard to get it to hold the amber light charge, inconsistent. Otherwise none of the other issues in this video have been an issue for me but time will tell the tale!

#8 E-brake. It's an option you can activate (pg 575 owner's manual). Put the car in park, and *_don't_* press the brake pedal. Then pull up and release the parking brake lever. Immediately pull it up again and hold. When you hear two beeps, the automatic parking brake is set. Repeat (different number of beeps) to de-activate. The parking brake will be set when you power the car off, and will release when you press the gas in drive or reverse. [Aside gripe. I have the 2018 Accord, with the push button shifter that most reviewers didn't like because it was different. Besides being easier and allowing more space, you didn't have to shift into park, either. Powering down shifted into park, and set the parking brake.]
Actual MPG are affected by (A) how many short trips you take, since the engine runs to warm the engine and battery up, and (B) changing speeds rapidly which messes with the battery strategy. And the computer mpg is probably more consistent (after adjusting for that 1mpg high you say it averages) unless you average the pump measurement over three or four tanks. This is because pumps shut off at different points.
Great video. BTW the humming noise when in reverse is a safety design. When in EV car can't be heard. And the humming is to make others aware.
Why does it do it while driving though. It’s horrid and loud! It’s also not necessary when backing up. They’re supposed to be looking…. For your car not listening😄. Also the horn works, I used to beep my baby horn on my Prius and Niro.
Excellent video. I don't have a CRV yet but are seriously considering it. We use Dupont 303 Protectant on the vinyl and rubber surfaces of our current vehicles. Don't sweat the mileage. There are lots of factors to consider. Weight of vehicle, tire pressure, outside temperature, etc., so long as it is in the ballpark I would not worry about it. Wish it had a spare, and direct injection engines can be problematic if the valves get gummed up. Some engines are prone to it. Never had a problem with my DI VW engine, but others have.
This is my 3rd hybrid. I’ve had a Prius and a Niro. have 1550 miles on my 2023 CRV Sport Touring. It’s already in the shop making odd buzzing noises from the battery. Brakes squeaking like a sad puppy. It whines horribly….yes I know they want people to know the car is there but its been getting louder and louder everyday. It’s extremely annoying! You can hear it over the radio sometimes. At this price point the luxury is almost completely absent….it actually IS absent. I can’t think of anything that’s great. No 360 camera. No ventilated seats. The middle vents can’t be turned off (what the stupid). The sunroof with the manual slide? The absence of a spare!! The Bose system that doesn’t sound like one. Mileage… 33mpg, I get around 420 miles on a full tank…I used to get 450 miles on my 6 cylinder 2012 Odyssey. The best I can hope for is it will be reliable…it not looking great at the moment😢
A couple of comments. Absolutely hate pop up screens on all cars today. So glad my 18 RAV4 Hybrid XLE has in dash screen. That horn may not meet federal safety standards for minimum decibels. Don't know but it may not. I am a low tech guy so don't use anything I don't need to. I still use a flip phone. Never hooked up bluetooth, never opened the sunroof (most useless thing ever put on a car), never use any gear except R P N and D, etc., etc. Old school and love it. And I never get distracted with all the tech stuff. Try it, You may like it. One thing I absolutely love-SIRIUS radio.
For the wipers. Turn off the car, or make sure the car was off. Push and keep pushed the windshield wiper lever up until the wipers raise vertically in your windshield. It is also good if you park in a freezing night so the wipers don't get stuck to the windshield. Honda had to do something about it, since the reason you're hitting your hood with them it's because they sit too low in order to be more aerodynamic and avoid noise while driving at high speed.

Thank you for the small-mirror upgrade suggestion. What this really helps including parking is parking next to the curve and avoiding curve-rash. Saves damages on your wheels as well as the extra need to prop open the door to see whether your car is lined-up with the parking lines.
Wiper needs to be put into service mode position before you raise the wipers. It is tucked in under the hood to reduce drag. It is definitely not a bad design.

@@jgloc25Page 617 in manual. Power mode ON, then OFF. Within 10 seconds of OFF, hold wiper switch to MIST position for more than 2 seconds. Not very intuitive IMHO!
@matthewmcgee Yup, learned of it too in anither review. In this mode, what does it allow then... to raise the wiper arm backwards? Sorry, just trying to imagine, as I dont have this yet.
@@jgloc25 I think the service position is just so you can tilt the wiper arm farther from the windshield to replace the blades. When stopped in the regular position, you cannot tilt the wiper arm all the way, it hits the edge of the hood (shown in video). I assume the wiper arm is located slightly below the hood edge for aerodynamics and the hinge angle just didn't allow the arm to clear the hood edge.
I Don’t have a CR-V hybrid but I did buy a 2023 Accord EX-L and will compare some of your issues to my own with the new models. Thanks for these consumer perspective videos.

Thanks for pointing these issues out. I was thinking some of these (minor) issues could be an overlook due to a rush production after pandemic to keep up with the buyer/dealer supply demand so their quality control was lacking.

You did a great job in pointing out some of the issues that you personally don’t care for and hopefully, they’ll be addressed soon by Honda and other manufacturers. My sister just bought the 2024 CR-V Sport-L hybrid and it’s such a comfortable ride! Her biggest gripe was that Honda only offered one interior color for the white car…black. It’s ridiculous that you don’t have a choice between a dark or lighter interior. Way to go once again for manufacturers controlling costs and customer choices. 😡
(BTW, our new Lincoln’s charging pad doesn’t really work either. Could that be a problem for most of the wireless charging pads out there?)

Possible deal breaker here would be not having run-flat tires and no spare tire. I'd be really hesitant to go on a long road trip with this vehicle. Around town would be fine. Wish you would have commented on Apple CarPlay and the Nav / Infotainment screen. Is Apple CarPlay wired or wireless in these newer CR-V's and how well does it work? Too bad Honda still uses a tiny low-res Nav / Infotainment screen when most everyone else has gone more upscale --- especially at these inflated prices. For this kind of money I'd want a bigger screen with better resolution. Wife -might- get a new CR-V in 2024 to replace her 2013. Prior to that she a 2009 CR-V so we obviously love that vehicle. But at current prices and with more competition we're open to researching others especially Mazda. No interest in Hyundia / Kia. RAV-4 is OK but noisy and rough riding. Or we might go for a non-Hybrid CR-V and live w/o some of the features - but have a spare tire! Thanks.

If you’re looking for a mid size suv. It’s either RAV4 CRV or the Mazda. All great choices.
I personally think the rav interior is outdated. And the mazda looks like you’re driving a shoe 👞 haha. But pick whats best for you! A 12 inch screen would be really nice. The 9 is good enough. The 7in is disrespectful in 2023.
Hyundai kia shouldn’t be legal to sell given their issues. Check out my older videos for infotainment walk through. There is a 2 second delay for inputs. But that is intentional to prevent drivers from watching shows and social media while driving. Music works great. Bass on the bose system is amazing.
I bought the sport touring and was a little worried about no spare tire. Then I realized I probably haven’t had a flat tire outside of my driveway for about 30 years. And I do have roadside assistance if I should need it.
If these are dealbreakers for anyone they will have a tough time finding a vehicle to suit them. These aren’t any different than in any in the segment. You’re overthinking the backup camera. It’s a wide view to help you see things that may be just off center. It’s not an actual view of how wide the vehicle is. As far as parking line up all the lines and you’ll be perfectly in the spot. It’s literally that easy. As far as the wipers they usually have a service position which will have them at their highest setting so you can change them. How you get it there may be different depending on your vehicle. Should be able to locate that in the manual. As far as the electronic e-brake I believe there is a setting to have it come on automatically. Unfortunately on the CRV I believe it doesn’t come on until the vehicle is turned off. So if you leave your foot on the brake till you turn the vehicle off you won’t get that back and forth before it’s applied.
I once test-drove a new Toyota Camry over to the Honda dealer to compare them side-by-side. I had noticed the Honda Accord was more solid than the Toyota. The salesman told me to push down on the Honda to feel how it rebounded, then did the same to the Toyota. The Honda returned a firm rebound. The Toyota left with a dent in the hood. I took the Toyota back to the dealer and told them I didn't want it because it had a dent. I bought the Honda.
My wife bought one of these a month ago. And we are starting to discover the quirks of the car as well. Overall we like it but I think we should have skipped it due to it being a new model.

The air spoiler holds water. When you wash the vehicle, it leaks lines down the back window. This is my 3rd CR-V. Honda seems to always have several maddening issues with every model. Good luck with the map/firmware updates! My last one came with 5 years worth of "free" updates. There was only one, in 5 years!
Really looking at one. But the lack of fogs and the no spare concern me. The lack of spare seems to be the norm with hybrids and its ok for city driving but the lack of fogs just confuses me.
Buy aftermarket fog lights and don’t drive over nails. 😂
How often are you using fog lights?
@@judasblewit its useful in the snow or wet roads more then it is for fog. So fairly often. I ended up going with a accord which also lacks fogs.

@@judasblewit i have had it a week. Its been stellar. Going from a gas to a hybrid means its my first car with regen braking. Its probably my favorite thing about the car. Rides extremely quiet and I have doubled my MPG of my old car.

Hubby changed out the clown horn with two horns (low and high tones...there is a spot on passenger side for the second horn). Not sure how he did it, but he was able to lower the volume of that hum, but not so low that people cannot hear it on the outside.
I have no issue with my phone sliding on the wireless charger pad. I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra. I think the case grips the pad better than some other cases. Mine is a Spigen Tough Armor case. It does charge slow for sure, though.

The glasses complaint I just went through in my 2018 CRV, I thought i blew a speaker it was my glasses in it. I added padding no more rattle sounds.
Yeah in the 2018 was even lauder.
Honda recently has quite a bit of QC issues. I had a 2012 Civic that got totalled at 203K, almost mechanically trouble free with the AC compressor that died around 80K, the starter that died at 80K, and a passenger power window motor that died around 37K.
Honda QC has gone down a bit because American Honda top management has cut corners here and there.
I am switching back to Toyota because I do not like turbo charged engines. They do not last as long as a non turbo charged engine.
There is a recall on 2023 CRV and accord. I had my recall taken call of today. They did a software update. Ask you dealer about it. The recall is on the hybrid model which you got.

I have a 2020 Honda hybrid Touring and I fixed the charging problem by adding a black foam piece using contact cement to keep my phone in one place. Works perfectly fine after that 👍🏽
Just bought one last Tuesday and the blind spot on the drivers side is horrific! I almost side swiped 4 times now. I literally had to turn my mirror all the way out just to see.

My brother bought the new redesigned CRV and when he came to visit I thought it was a Toyota and a bigger SUV like a 4Runner. My brother drove 8 hours with 5 adults in the SUV and I didn't hear anyone complaining it had been too cramped when they arrived.
I like the new look.
I bought my 2023 in December last year. I love it but the only thing that really annoys me is the stop start feature. I hate it that the engine shuts off when I come to a start. I know they say you can disable this but it does not stay disabled.
I am so happy to have installed a cheap kit, which was really easy to install on my 2024 CRV. No more stop start crap.

The brake pedal is strong by law. You cannot have that fail ever. The plastic gas pedal is cost cutting i havent seen before.
Thanks for this very comprehensive review. I'm sure it will be very reliable. There were not any available when I had to purchase a car immediately, and although Honda is very reliable, I was less than excited to buy another Honda even if one had been available. I had a 2010 Honda Civic for 12 years. It always started every morning, but there were some major repairs I had to have done on the car. For example, the heater core had to be replaced, which was a rather expensive repair, and it made the car almost impossible to drive because the windows would immediately fog up, and I had to keep wiping them with a cloth as I drove to be able to see out of the vehicle. I've never had that happen on any other car I've owned. There was also a problem with the paint, so the topcoat wore off over most of the car, and I missed the deadline for the recall on that. It happened after the time to get it fixed was up. I also never liked the wipers. Even when changed, the blades often did not work well on the driver's side. Not long after the dealer replaced the heater core, the engine idle also became rough, so much so, that the car would rattle until it warmed up or until I started driving. Moreover, the seats were extremely uncomfortable, and I couldn't wait to get out of the car after driving it for 25 miles. Shorter drives were fine. For these reasons, plus bad experiences with the dealer, although the car was otherwise reliable, I appreciated the car, but I did not love it the way I did my previous Toyota. Toyotas for 2023 were overpriced and unavailable, so I had to go with a totally different make, one less reliable than Honda or Toyota. Thus far I enjoy driving my new car, and I have no problems with it. The seats are also very comfortable, and it has a spare tire. It is not hybrid, but it gets 29-33 miles around town and as high as 43.4 MPG on the expressway. Whether I will have transmission problems down the line remains to be seen. But I appreciate your video which shows the pros and cons of the Honda CRV, so I'm informed for the future if I do have problems and need to trade the car in for a new one. By the way, many car dealers leave off fog lights on most of their trim levels. Yet they include them on the same trim levels for Canada. I don't know why they feel they can leave them off for the U.S. when customers clearly want them. Also, I looked it up. It says break-in oil should be used for 500-1000 miles. And I would be very, very surprised if the dealer will let you change the oil more often than the recommended intervals for free. With my Civic, the oil changes were never really free because they would always force me to have something else done on the car when I brought it in for an oil change, and that would always cost me way too much money.

Is anyone bothered by the rear seatbelt bulge in the ceiling on the driver side? Since it’s only on one side, it’s triggering my OCD. I want to buy a CRV, but I’m having trouble with accepting this huge cyst! Seems like they didn’t consider how symmetry (or the lack thereof) can affect us. Some advice from those who already have the vehicle would help.
I love nit-picky reviews like this. These are the type of things that can be deal breakers for many people and most car reviewers will never cover. I have noticed most of these and they are annoying. I would be less critical of my Sport-L if it was a cheaper vehicle.
I also noticed that the armrests and center console are pretty hard on my elbows. Secondly, the passenger seat doesn't have that many adjustments and the rear seats are not heated.
I'm satisfied with it for now, but cars are getting too expensive for what they offer.

Yep, Honda had them in the previous two generations of CR-V (2012-2022) and not sure why they removed them. Even Toyota had them at one point but removed them as well. I don’t understand why car companies sometimes remove useful features for no apparent reason…lol

The tint isn't dark as you may think. I have a tint on my windshield, it is 70 or 80% and practically transparent, sometimes I forget myself I had it tinted. Noone is able to tell there is a tint unless I tell them. So what he's complaining about could be valid.
Tint can save your dash from future cracking issues, helps keep heat out, and gives you less glare from on coming traffic. Don't knock it till you try it.
@@canabisquickGet a dash mat to protect your dash, a sun guard when it's parked to keep heat out. And keep your windshield clear so you can see out of it properly. Some states windshield tint is illegal below the AS1 line on the windshield. It also makes it harder, sometimes impossible for other drivers and pedestrians to see you and communicate at intersections or in parking lots. You can't see the driver and what they are looking at. Any reduction in viewing ability is dangerous. Please tell me more about the superficial positives that outweigh safety?
There are a two shades of tint. One is transparent or nearly transparent, the other is the dark which usually young kids get to be cool. Most adults don't get the dark because we value jobs and family. You're throwing the two into one bucket Patrick.

The rav4 door inside grab is not good , difficult to grab. The rear doors open too small. Honda has the biggest door opening. Rav4 is good vehicle with more feathers. Honda better quality

@@andyli724 I really want a new Honda Element but since they are not made anymore, I had to look. Came down to the CR-V Sport Hybrid or the Toyota RAV4 Woodland hybrid. They are both good. I thought the Toyota looks better on exterior and Honda on the interior. CR-V drives a bit better .The RAV4 gets better Mileage even with the all terrain tires the Woodland has. The door handles are fine for me and long arms. I also don't expect anyone to sit behind me as I am solo 99%of the time. If Honda still made an Element this would be a no brainier but I had to go look and the RAV4 met my needs a bit better. Cheers!

I chose the Rav 4 over the CRV last month because of the difference in engines. Honda has lost me as a customer because of the new ultra small turbocharged engines. Not a smart move.
The hybrid is not turbo! But understandable for the gas. I wouldn’t buy that either
@@DrHondaCRV yes I know the hybrid doesn’t use a turbo. That would be incredibly odd. I wasn’t talking about the Hybrid. The standard engines are dinky turbo charged models. Honda has gone to that over a decent sized engine and it’s a mistake. Shorter life span and more problems/more expensive to maintain.
Blind Spot monitorig DELETION on so many models was a deal breaker for me.
There's nothing wrong with the plastic gas pedal. Saves weight and cost and it will never break (physically)
5000 mile oil change is correct. The oil minder is a joke. Btw...original oil is no longer any different from normal oil. Thats the old way. Its just the same oil. The is no additional additives like some will tell you. Doesn't hurt to do the first change early. May be beneficial actually. My dealer did mine at 2500 for the first, then every 5k after.
Wind resistance will give you lower mileages on the same highways - depending on the wind directions.

Two months into driving our new 2024 Hybrid CRV E-CVT. City MPG from 40 to 56 MPG, Highway MPG at 60 MPH is 43-45 MPG and at 70 MPH drops to 83 MPG. Very short trips under 2 to 4 mile scan drop to 28-30 MPG then increase to 40 MPG plus after driving around 5 miles plus. Sold my 2017 CRV Touring to buy the 2024 CRV. The question is would buy the 2024 CRV Hybrid model again, YES.
Hey ZotZot! I've been following your videos when I was doing my research regarding the new CRV. We finally got one but in Sport trim which was enough for our needs. Mpg wise we're averaging 42-45mpg with city and highway combine. I baby it as it's still in its break in period (345 miles). Wish it did have a HUD, Fog lights and an option for 9 inch screen but still very satisfied with the vehicle.

Im almost at 700 miles. Sport Trim as well. How long would you consider the break in period to be? Typically I hear about 1000, but not sure with hybrids and this model. Going on a 4 hour trip soon, debating if it's too early to kick on the cruise control. Any advice? Thanks!
@@JustinNichols66 After 1000 miles nothing really changed much for me. With the software update being the exception.
@@DrHondaCRV I will never cast aspersions on anyone, but the RAV4 Hybrid of mine has never achieved an average of 45mpg. And believe me the RAV4 hybrid is more fuel efficient than the Honda, but not by a lot.
But like I said in my previous comment, the Honda 2023 CRV Hybrid is an awesome vehicle.
