I have to say this is the most scenic bicycling video that I have ever seen. The drone shots are at the next level. Amazing skills both on and off bike.
totally agree, I've rewatched this video for at least 10 times in last 2 weeks and it never gets boring to watch this scenery, this definitely inspired me to visit Dolomites in future
Wtf... This channel has very few subscribers... I swear I havent seen such an awesome video before you guys... Thanks for this amazing visual treatment. Pls do more. It fills my soul... 👍
For anyone who plans to do the route, I just completed some of this route. There was a major landslide on the section from Ampezzo to Sauris. It was dangerous, Class V scrambling with a mountain bike. Unfortunately my friend hurt her knee so we had to deviate a lot from the route after Sauris. Ended up catching some of the route in the Sella Ronda area. Then from Davos to Chur did the route. Looking back at the video, bummed to have missed out on what appear to be some long ribbons of singletrack :-( Also, y’all are strong AF to ride the mileage you did in this terrain!!! 8am-6pm for us several days just to keep your pace. Thanks again for sharing!
I have planed this route for July and I was wondering how bad is the land slide section? We are doing the reverse tour, from Chur to Ljubljana and I really don't want to change the route. So, is there like a vertical wall that needs climbing? I tried to look on different maps, but can't tell how bad it is. We are all experienced in mountain climbing, however, not so often carrying 16kg bikes. It make sense to carry extra weight for some climbing gear, like rope and harness, or can be done without, only with more effort and attention? Thank you in advance!
@@mariusavram6566 I really wouldn’t recommend doing the route in reverse. They definitely set it up so you have a lot of paved climbs and trail descents going east>west. Going the other way you will be climbing or pushing up some great singletrack, only to go down pavement on the other side. That all being said, the slide was between Passo Pura and Sauris di Sopra. It was VERY bad and the trails leading up to it were also not great because no one had been using/maintaining them because of the slide. That was 2 years ago though so maybe it’s better now? But you can also just ride the road from Ampezzo to Sauris di Sopra and skip all that. All this being said, if I was going back I wouldn’t do this route. There is just WAY too much pavement. I would either do a pure MTB tour in the western Dolomites and eastern Switzerland (the trails around Chur and Davos were fabulous). Or I would just take my gravel bike from and be selective about what trails I used. I think either way will be more fun.
This was the most incredible video I've ever seen! Wow!!! Speechless! Thank you so much for sharing such an incredible and inspiring journey! The shots, narration, music, adventure...5 stars!
This is the best mountain bike adventure video I have ever seen. Brilliant cinematography and edit. Perfect mix of riding, scenary, friends. This is epic!
Hello Jonas, I can tell you that each and every one of your trips and your way of showing them to the world is spectacular (videos, panoramic views, comments, editing, music, ...). For me it has undoubtedly been a source of motivation to organize my bicycle trips to the Alps. For next year I had thought about organizing part of your tour but I have tried to access your tracks and they are currently not accessible (some time ago I was able to download some tracks). Is it possible to access them in any way? Congratulations on your enjoyment and for making it reach everyone
I really like this. Im going to the alps mountain biking for a couple of months next month. The guys i usually ride with couldnt make it or it just wasnt for them. I was actually wondering whether to bother going on my own or postpone and randomly came across this video. It inspired me to just keep planning go for it anyway - so thanks for that.
This is an incredible video and was super inspiring for myself and some friends to hit some of this route coming up this summer on a trip planned to the Alps. I'd really like to replicate some of the route but the map links aren't working for me, is there any chance GPX files or pdfs or really anything could be shared to help narrow down the trails taken? Cheers!
Hey Jonas en co. I just returned from this trip with my wife yesterday. Spent some pretty long days in the sadle and still skipped some of the more gnarly technical stuff. Thanks for putting your gpx's out there for others to use - it is such an epic ride you put together and I know how incredibly time consuming it must be to make a route like this. We had an outstanding trip, fully thanks to you!
Hi Jens. But you did the whole thing? That's so cool! What was your favorite part? I have to admit that it took some late nights to map the whole thing together, and I know its not perfect, but there some really good riding and views along this route!
@@JonasMTB We were mentally prepared for a good portion of hike-a-bike so no worries there. Yes, we rode "Dag 0" through "Dag 12". The Italian part definitely was our favourite. The Swiss part has the upper hand trail-wise, but the scenery (and the food!) of the Italian part is just world class. Thanks again for creating & sharing this incredible route!
I definitely agree, both about the food, views and trail quality. I think thats whats great about traveling across the alps, you get to experience such a various culture and landscape. Really really cool that you followed in our path and I hope more people take the journey :-)
@@dgjessee Great to hear you'll be riding this one! It's still one of my favorite routes ever ridden. Am currently on a bike tour, I can send you links to our Strava rides next week. Not sure if the Strava rides will be very useful to you as most of our decisions were taken ad hoc either due to weather or time management. I do remember the very first day to be the most hike-a-bike for us :-)
I absolutely love riding in the alps (and Norway 😉👍). This is a brilliant video 👏👏👏❤️. Last year I rode from Annecy to Briançon. Loved it. This year we will do Briançon to Nice 👍. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos 😍👍. Tusen takk 👍
Jonas M Norway is amazing ❤️👍. Yeap I definitely want to give your route a try. It looked fantastic. Really enjoying going through your videos. They are amazing
This is spectacular. I'm from Slovenia and was happy to see you did some riding here as well. I will borrow some of the GPX and try to do some of your trips since they look spectacular. Thanks for the info you provided.
An entertaining yet humbling adventure . Top notch production , with efficient/informative use of GoogleEarth and elevation graphs . Appreciative and envious of your achievement & experience here . Bestist wishez from British Columbia :)
Jonas - really enjoyed your video and seeing this trip unfold ! Well done ! Curious about what your route was. Would you be willing to tell me where you started and finished? And what some of the villages you passed through along the way? What mountain passes did you have to go over? Thanks for any feedback you are willing to share 1.
Hey, I've been following your channel for a while and i must say it's the best bikepacking channel out there!!! I'm planning my own solo bikepacking trip trough the alps on a light E-bike. Are there a lot of refuges next to this route? I'd like to sleep in my tent or under the stars but I will need charging from time to time.
great video. However, I would like to know what trail they were on, what part of the country they are in, what town is in the background? This is where the video fell short.
